I just said this, why would anyone want him back in this state. He was seriously struggling with something heavy and trying to cope with his music, ie the “unhinged” and crying more than now Vessel. Poor baby needed a whole ass hug 🥺😭 I REPEAT…. WE DO NOT WANT THE OLD VERSION OF VESSEL. He actually smiles and laughs now, why would we want to take that away 😒
@@fromthesky1050 to be fair, no one really knows what’s going on in anyone’s life, his included. We can all assume, myself included, but actions do speak volumes here. 🤷🏽♀️
@@TatiMarieee as someone who was approached by someone in the industry who had connections and wanted me to join them.. u have no idea the things some of these artists do...
Just commented somewhere else on how amazing he still sounds despite being sloshed LOL. I was expecting an embarrassing karaoke rendition, but was pleasantly surprised 😂😂
@@codymathes4450 don’t know, it’s just a common assumption that goes around the fandom about this performance.. probably based on the first seconds when he drops the bottle and his movements in general, idk..
@@codymathes4450 Combo of jerky movements that stop suddenly at the apex, the stumbling and unsteadiness you often see in really intoxicated people. For Vessel in particular his vocals are much less controlled than they usually are in live performances from the period - he even goes flat on a couple of sustained notes which is *so* uncommon for him. Truly it might not be that he's drunk at all; it could be another (harder) drug. But the unlabelled bottle full of ?spirits is something you see with a lot of functional alcoholics so I'd guess alcohol was involved somehow at least
LOL so I searched for drunk vessel on YT because I saw a short clip of him licking IV and someone mentioned he was hammered. I honestly wouldn’t have noticed he was drunk in this video if no one had pointed it out 😂. The dude still sounds amazing.
The first SECOND, the way he took that sip and just dropped the bottle, was a dead give away that he’s trashed. Then that first line to Nazareth along with wrapping the mic cord around iv… 😮💨 Who hurt him… He definitely was struggling with something and trying to cope through his music, which is why back then a lot of his behavior was unhinged and he cried a lot more 😭 Poor bby needed a hug.. 💜
I just checked. You're right it does say he composed this. That's really fascinating. I would have thought Vessel was 100% solely responsible for all of the early music at the least. The lyrics are so different, and disturbing, in this one though. That might explain it. Still want to find out more
So that’s actually something you’ll notice he does a lot towards the end of songs or right at the end - it’s the signifying moment of “offering” the song to Sleep. (per the lore, each song is a token/offering to the deity Sleep)
As good as the new album is - there's something about those first 2 EPs that just hits so much deeper - like Vessel's wounds were so fresh then and the songs just have more RAW emotional power, unadorned by glossy recording techniques etc. I dunno, it's just the first 2 EPs, Jaws, and Sundowning are the pinnacle for me. PS it's cool to see these old vids when they used guitar amps on stage. Seeing III plugged in with a cable is funny - there's no way he'd survive being tethered via a cable like that these days with the amount of spinning and skittering about he does!
@@frostfang1 that or Vessel's mic cord wrapped around his throat. Those guys know how to play it up haha. It's all in jest but unfortunately some people are taking it way too seriously.
I don't know why people are knocking the performance here. It matches the music and lyrical content. Don't get so hung up on who they are. WHAT they are as a unit and what they're becoming is so much more intriguing this way. I appreciate performance art for what it is. Keep the mystery.
1:35 vessel wrapping the mic cord around VI neck and then III acting like he's got a gun and acts like he's going shot himself. Then vessel just going crazy like he's fighting something they isn't there. So fucking intense and now I'm obsessed with finding other videos like this. And some of those funny videos to like is anyone can post a link to the video of vessel licking VI right before he starts singing Nazareth or the one where VI falls right in front of vessel and you can see and hear him giggle a lil I need that in life right now
This has soooooo many elements in it 🤘💃❤️ I've watched it 5 times to check out each individuals stage presence & the woman on the keyboard is right there with every beat 💓 LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this video 🫶Worship
@@raylenlovesiv yh i was just wondering if someone actually seen him drinking on set, tbh vessel is the last artist id belive to get drunk on stage hahah
The more the “algorithm” pushes us to a normal reality, the more we need weird shit like this performance to remind us of the beauty of imperfect human expression.
I’ve never seen a lead singer use the drum beat … like he’s getting beat up and punched like Vessel . At 3:55s he is fighting for his life and I’m sooooo into it . Worship
Wow, this is...different. The song is a fast favorite of mine. And man, he is soaked. Well, I think Vessel would agree that the first two lines were painful to the ears, but by god Sleep did he pick it up by line 3 and 4, then almost flawless. Impressive. Anyone that can sing that well while being drunk as a skunk. Wow. But dont do that Vessel. You should not have been on stage, but backstage having a little nappy-nap. 🖤🖤🖤🖤
I think maybe he was having a mental breakdown or he was just feeling the music or maybe he was relieving what the song was about cuz it looked like he's kinda Fighting himself or whatever sleep was showing him at that moment. Idk but it's very captivating.
I think it's several factors that are not necessarily linked to substance, tho still could be. This is 2018, they were just starting out, bro still does the same kind of weird dance, just more confidently now. Also I think that specific mask made it hard to see, so while trying to offer a performance where he's feeling the music and not just standing there, he had to be careful not to fall and loose his hood, which might affect the way he was moving on stage
Compared to the latest concerts, Vessel behaves bizarre at this one, first he strangles IV in play, then stumbles across the stage like in pain or drunk and then takes a sip from his bottle and spits it out across the stage at 4:19.
Two questions (if anyone is even still here lol) 1. Is that the same III we have now? 2. Why the hell does his bass have like three strings out of five on it??
Weird enough, my opinion is his posture and the ability to stand still, not fall when going in circles etc mean he is not drunk….Hammered singers fall on their ass lol. Plus his vocals tell me otherwise. But then again I could be very wrong hahahahaha
@@alexasginsburg4361 now that ive been seeing more and more old videos, im realizing that!! i wish i was around in 2018, i luckily found them with sundowning :)
