Sleep training was honestly the BEST THING we ever did. In this video I cover ALL.THE.THINGS about my baby's sleep and our sleep training experience. I talk about our experience using the Ferber and Cry it Out method and how I still feed him to sleep every night. He has been doing all his naps on his own and sleeping through the night since 8 months old.
Emanuel's routine:
Wake up between 6.30am-7.30am (is left in cot until 7.30am)
Nap: 10am-10.30am
Nap: 1.30pm-3.30pm
Asleep: 7.30pm

Great video regarding sleep training! So glad to know that it didn’t take that long for Emanuel to adjust to the new sleep routine❤️.

I don’t really agree to hold off sleep training until they no longer feed at night. Sleep training earlier than that can actually help eliminate nighttime feeds. That being said, sleep training should be held off until 4 months, so that way night time feeds are no longer an issue to begin with.

@@ehsanzumrut4060 started with my youngest at 4 months and she’s gone down to 1 feeding per night on her own, but half the time she doesn’t wake to feed at all. Regardless, she will be weaned off it entirely at 6 months.

@@candisham1978 how long did she take to stick to a routine? It’s day 13 here and he still has some bad nights when he wakes up screaming intensely
@candisham1978
@candisham1978 9 дней назад
@@ehsanzumrut4060 just 2 days. She caught onto it quick. She did wake up in the night screaming a couple times, but if it wasn’t to eat, I left her there to put herself back to sleep. It was a little rough, the amount of time she was crying, but it paid off. My husband desperately wanted to intervene, and even got mad a me a couple times because I said no. It’s important that during the “bad nights” that you don’t change a thing. Whether it be teething, fussy from vaccines etc. Also, if your baby doesn’t have a strict bedtime and scheduled naps, please fix that, because it really does help.

Very helpful video! my bub is 4mo so its good tips for me to consider. What was E's overnight sleeps like before 8mths? My bub still wakes up every 3hrs wanting a feed (day + night). I tried to pat him in the hopes to skip a night feed but he always looks wide away.

At 4 months Emanuel was on 1 feed a night, and didn't drop that one until about 7 months. But after that he still frequently woke up once a night unsettled, needing help falling back asleep.

I have a question on baby camera and whether you can hear the baby from another room. How do you make sure you can hear him crying in the middle of the night if we put him in another room, and which camera helps to do this?

Hi Jo I read that you leave him in cot until 7:30 am before picking him up, would he cry after waking up or was he ok playing?
@LoveChicStyling
@LoveChicStyling Год назад
sometimes he would fuss or cry on and off. if he was full on crying one of us would sit in the room with him until 7.30am and he'd stop crying. By now he is happy to actually be awake and in there quiet until we get him :)

How has the fixed routine been long term? I have a 6 month old and his naps are mainly based on his wake windows (2h) so everyday looks different. He still wakes up every 3h a night to feed 🫠 I wonder if the fixed schedule would help the night? 🤔

No he wasn't teething yet but he started to teeth about a week or so in. And yes, he's been on solids since about 5 months. oh no! Maybe he's routine during the day is a little off causing the night wake? Would be useful to speak to a sleep consultant x

omg, how cruel to let baby cry for 1.5 hours..... to each their own of course.
@candisham1978
@candisham1978 2 месяца назад
This is how sleep training is done🤷🏻‍♀️ Some babies cry more than others. Independent sleep is a learned behavior for babies. Some just need the extra help. You cannot think of it as cruel. Can’t be a good parent if you’re exhausted and frustrated daily. Additionally, the better sleep a baby gets, the happier they are.
@marianemashkalo4182

@@candisham1978 good rationalisation for torture . Quite sophisticated. Interesting research on a baby that can't verbalise their feelings yet. Or they can- by crying. And yet when a mom hears her infant cry, it's an instinct to take the baby,soothe,feed,kiss. I know we're tired. I have twins almost 18 months old. They still wake up at night,so what. But I chose to have them not to torture them in infancy, I am an adult and I can handle myself. They can't. I am guessing you're an American. You guys see kids as a problem. Just sad...
@candisham1978
@candisham1978 2 месяца назад
@@marianemashkalo4182 stop being so dramatic. This isn’t torture, it’s giving your kids the skills they need to be less dependent on others. Baby cries during sleep training because they want the comfort, but they don’t actually need it. Want and need are 2 very different things. There is a huge difference. Letting them be helps them realize they don’t need it and can do it themselves. Once again, sleep is a “LEARNED BEHAVIOR” in babies, and if you don’t believe me, ask any expert and they will tell you the same. I myself just had my 4th baby 10 weeks ago. I sleep trained all my kids and this one is also being sleep trained once he hits 4 months. He is by far the worst sleeper of all my kids. Tell me how my son waking up every 30 minutes day and night is sustainable? It’s not. Not only am I, my husband, and my whole family at our wit’s end, but my son is so cranky 24/7 because he barely sleeps. Do some babies not need sleep training? Yes, some are lucky and adjust themselves. My niece slept 8 hours right from birth and never cried. But that’s not realistic for most babies, so they need the extra assistance. There is absolutely no difference between a 4 month old crying to be rocked to sleep, and a 3 year old throwing a temper tantrum because they’re not getting the toy they wanted. Want, and need, learn the difference.
