I've watched a lot of different versions on youtube (the music is enthralling!!) but this will always be my favourite version. sure she wobbles but she chooses to hold her balance for a coupla seconds each time, instead of just instantly grabbing the next guy's hand - now THAT's brave and risky, and i think thats what makes it great. she dances with enough passion to challenge herself in front of thousands instead of playing it safe!

This is the best Aurora I've ver seen...she is brillant, delicate, but also very strong. I like her much more than Alina. It doesn't matter that her balances are a little shaky because her grace and beauty are superior.

I have to say that is amazing! the way she dances in convex pointe shoes is amazing. she is not only a gorgeous dancer filled with love for the art but, a very technical one as well. Bravo!

Those complaining of Sofiane's "balance problems" should bear in mind that Ms. Sylve uses convex pointe shoes to allow herself greater spin. It's like balancing en pointe on an area equivalent to a dime. She attended Academie de Ballet de Nice, and that particular academy insists (or used to) that convex shoes are worn, as opposed to concave shoes which allow for greater balance and precision, but less spin.

I agree - the opening developees were astounding, I thought! It's true, her final series of balances were not as secure as one would wish. The most amazing sequence of balances I ever saw were from Cynthia Gregory, performing with ABT on Great Performances back in the 70s. She transitioned from attitude to Arabesque slowly and deliberately and then held Arabesque for a few counts. It seems that broadcast has been lost!

honestly, if some of you are getting on her about how long she can balance, think about this dance. The "Rose Adaigo" is a very hard piece, and I'd like to see you do it perfectly. Personally, I think Silvie was wonderful and a joy to watch.

I'm a fan of ballet and by no means a ballerina in any respect (I've taken classes and have danced modern and that is all); but watching this and reading the comments.......if half of you could do what you say that she is lacking; then wouldn't I be watching you up here and not her? Just a thought. I think she was absolutely lovely and graceful and portrayed Aurora well.

@NickyLess the good thing is that more and more schools are accepting girls with curvy figures whereas it used to be only those who were stick thin

Will someone please teach the wardrobe department at the Dutch National Ballet how to cut a tutu?!
@superdancestar1398
@superdancestar1398 13 лет назад
its not about the foot work as much as it is for the passion of dance. because if you dont heave the heart to do it you wont get the steps..... heart and passion come first then you can learn the steps to the dances. :)

hmm, i don't agree, she is totally shaking when she does the attitudes and the promenades...i've seen maria eichwald from the stuttgart ballet dancing the aurora and she has been the most amazing one, i've ever seen, i really recommend you to watch her!

Does anybody at the Dutch National Ballet know how to cut a tutu? From Aurora to the lowliest fairy, they flatter no one and that's a real shame because there's some truly gorgeous dancing here.

may I suggest you watch Alina Cojocaru's Rose Adagio... that'll make you re-think a little bit your statement... nothing against zakharova.. but this was indeed painful to watch...

I adore ballet. Both watching and dancing it (more the watching as I stopped before en pointe, so I can't do too much). The only thing I don't like is that the girls are so thin. Maybe it's just me but I don't like that they are very straight up and down. Yes they dance beautifully but...I dunno it just seems wrong that they all have no boobs or waists. This piece was amazing though. Beautifully turned legs and extensions.

she's definitely an amazing dancer. i'd agree with you cat12154 that she needs more of a commanding presence. she's got big town ballet skill with a small town feel..but she's lovely. lol

Well, I thought she was just lovely! I mean, sure, she's no Darcey Bussell, But I'm sure none of you guys are either, so be quiet! She is a phenomenal dancer and anyone should aspire to look like that! Now stop putting down professional dancers and get back to the studio and work!

Her heart-felt lightness is captivating, and wow, those are gorgeous feet and legs! But I have to agree with the other posters who said that her balances were very scary (that's the most I've ever seen an Aurora wobble), and she deserves a prettier tutu that makes her stand out from the other ladies.

people who doesn't like silvie just because of minor problems should be ashamed, ballet should be a dance about passion and beauty, not about the person who can put it leg higher or stay on balance! Dear lord
