Believe it or not, because this is an older game so reading the expressions always threw me off, I had doubts about Jackie and I watched him closely. I regret that. I will never doubt Jackie. Mainly because he's dead...... Wished he didn't. I would've paid his wedding just to say sorry.
I wish that after beating the game that you get to pick your ending whether you get to stay as the Water Street Gang Leader/Red Pole or stay in the police force
The DLC Year of the Snake takes place after the events of the main story so if the DLC is canon then that means he stays in the force. Also, all the Redpoles know he is a cop after Pendrew sold him out so there isn't going back to crime after that.
I think the line means that Po and Pendrew are not so different, if anything, they are the same person, but in different sides, after all, both are bad people with very good publicity, although Po is more respectful of tradition. Po is a criminal, but at least he is honest with himself about it, whilst Pendrew deludes himself with acting for the greater good, but in reality he only seeks power at all costs.
@@basidan4488 its pretty obvious. Uncle Po is a criminal Pendrew is a high ranking cop the only difference between the two is that Uncle Po knows hes a criminal but Pendrew being a high ranking cop thinks what he's doing is good (he thinks he made Hong Kong a better place) but is really just as corrupt and power hungry as Uncle Po. I mean he literally let the leader of the Sun on Yee Uncle Po operate in exchange for boosting his career as a police officer. The point is both of them are bad guys at the end of the day but the only difference is that Uncle Po knows hes a bad guy Pendrew thinks hes good but really hes the same.
I like the ending part where Jiang order her men to leave Wei Shen be. On the outside she was like all tough but deep inside she like.. WTF this Wei Shen came out from being totured, single handed take down whole gang triads, gothough a chase sequences, took a direct hit from a shot gun and still live to proceed grind big smile lee. Currently she in good term with Wei Shen and fucking with him will likely earn her a spot in grinder.
Well, that, and Wei actually did a lot of good for the Sun On Yee even while being a cop the whole time. She has no reason to hunt him. He genuinely, legitimately helped her and the triad during his time with them
lol, no. she was smart, more clever, and tougher than the others. wei would have been dead in a heartbeat. that scene was supposed to show their respect and honor for his deeds.
@Sugetsu Natsuomi Yes you are right.. in a honorable sense that although Wei lied of being undercover cop that He help her in alot of ways What i just implying is if she want to be a scumbag and put hit on him to "tie" up loose end or as punishment for lying as undercover cop. It will be unwise decision.
Plus, he killed Dogeyes and his second Johnny, who helped Lee's prostitution scheme and were with him, and Lee's second in command Tong, and his third in command Ponytail, so NO ONE can pick up the pieces.
originally it was planned by the Game Developer, but unfortunately because Sleeping Dogs is an "Underated Game" whose income only reaches tens of millions of dollars and doesn't reach the income expected by the Developer, that's why the video game Sleeping Dogs was not made a sequel and only made into Post-form DLC after the main story of the game Sleeping Dogs has been completed. Coupled with that the Game Developer Sleeping Dogs named "United Front Games" has been bankrupt since 2016, because their game is low budget and also very underrated, so it's impossible for us to expect this game to be made into a sequel like the example Watch Dogs 1 & Watch Dogs 2 which was worked on by a Game Developer named "Ubisoft"
no he was not a gangster he left the sun on yee. Hes just doing his own thing basically now that his work is finished and the sun on yee spared him for helping jiang win the election and singlehandedly killing people. And in return he likely is not oging to mess with them anymore or do anything in that regard and in the post game dlc he became a regular police officer lol he can enver be an undercover cop again
Adrenaline is a seriously powerful effect everybody has, I remember crashing my car when I was a kid, racing around and shit. 80+mph crash. I managed to wake up, get myself out regardless of being stuck, run from the police and hop into my girlfriends car and drive back home. Didn't feel any pain until I lay down in bed, the Adrenaline shut off and the pain kicked in
Sleeping dogs is the best game I have ever played. Not only because of the amazing combat, the gory gun fights, parkour, and the fun ass driving mechanics. But the amazing and emotional storyline, I felt so much in this storyline. I was happy, I was angry, I felt hatred, and I felt like crying. The only thing I didn't like is that the storyline was so good so I can't enjoy any other storylines now...
Block Trollwell I really felt like I was a part of the gang. I didn't even want to be an undercover cop. It felt like a burden to me. The atmosphere of the game was excellent and had this vibrant, living feeling that not many games can pull off.
Winston and Jackie's deaths were too predictable, Big Smile Lee's ending boss fight was a triangle fest countering over and over again, then you throw him in a icechipper. It was boring. A Tong fight part two like battle with Lee would've been awesome, but we didn't get that. The atmosphere in the game was great, but Wei as a character was boring and just annoying. It was a great game with a bad ending and predictable storytelling. Also, Fuck, the cars in this game fall apart so easily.
Good game yes but the best? Hell fucking no. Story is predictable from the start, combat is just button mashing, and girlfriends are just one-off mission to unlock collectables on the map, wtf? I have SO many complaints about this game (but I won't talk about them here). You can feel that the whole game is just half-baked. If Activision finished the game instead of selling it to Square Enix it would be a much better game. That said as a Hongkonger I like it. I laughed a lot at the pedestrians' dialogues.
And it’s likely that Jiang used Wei’s cop status as an opportunity to expose Pendrew’s corrupted actions as an act of vengeance on Uncle Po’s death. Jiang saw Wei as being more honourable and respectable, despite him being an undercover cop the whole time. Once you have a cop who’s more loyal to the Triads than the police system, then you know that he is a useful asset.
Still one of the most shocking and realistic deaths I've ever seen, that's the realistic scenario of being killed by triads and there's no cliche last words
I just won this game, and gotta say i really enjoyed it. The story was really good, and i like the ending... But i gotta say, it's a pretty sad one. Yeah you beat the bad guys, make Hong Kong safer, but in the journey you lost almost everything and everyone. And Jackie's death really caught me off guard... Like personally Wei didn't really win anything at all... And i think that is what makes the game's story special, it's unique and well done. Anyway, love this game a lot and it's sad it never got a sequel. But the legacy of Sleeping Dogs will live on!!
From what I get, Pendrew did want to make Hong Kong a better place, but that degenerated into obtaining personal power at all costs. Remember what Sifu said to Wei about justice("Those who go seeking justice are the ones who highly risk losing sight of it".)? Because that's exactly what happened to Pendrew: He went to seek justice but eventually lost sight of it.
My ramen went an hour uneaten at the wedding... I completely forgot it was there in the first place. Just shows how much a video game could immerse a teenager just looking for a quick game for twenty bucks... I still think it's one of the best written games ever, and it's up there in the hall of fame for me along with red dead redemption, and the modern warfare trilogy (ayy)
My fav games of all time, like my top 5 list, has rdr2, sleeping dogs, mw, fallout nv and mw 2019 in it. Such good games, yet sleeping dogs is so sadly underrated and unpopular. I love this game and it was such a good part of my childhood
@@silkwind7618The studio were forced to make a "live service" game called Triad Wars. I played the beta of it for like 10hrs but there wasn't really much to do in it at all, you kinda designed your base and then other players can attack it but there's no actual multiplayer with other players in the game with you at the same time so it all felt kind of pointless to me. I understand why that game was cancelled, it just wasn't that fun. I wish they had a chance at a sequel.
I had an awesome alternate ending: After meeting Teng, Wei goes to Jackie's grave and pray for him. And then Conroy, Duke, and Calvin confront him, and they already know about Wei's status as an undercover cop. Wei confesses this and apologizes. But they tells Wei that it's no longer matter because Wei had helped them and Winston so many times, and killed Dogeyes and Big Smile Lee. They said that no matter who Wei is, he always be a part of Sun On Yee, and a member of Water Street Gang, and tells him that Jackie will agree. Wei thanked them and leave to eat at Golden Koi. But not before Wei turns around, feeling that Jackie looked over him just then.
Nice, I will search the cutscene on RU-vid. And this means that Wei can comeback as Sun on Yee in the sequence. Man, I love this game so much. One of my favs all time
@LuxRealmz Yeah people are under the impression that Jiang spares Wei only out of compassion. Nah bro, Jiang spared Wei to save her ass and get Pendrew to jail so the Sun On Yee can continue
This game was a masterpiece. I got it right after I came back home, living and working three years in HongKong. It definitely has that vibe in it. P.S. Free HK!
The worst thing people aren't seeing is that Jacky was still alive during that cutscene. He was squirming, meaning they cut him open and just left him hanging there.
When I finished Big Smile Lee's battle I thought I am still going to fight Pendrew while running away from Cops at MAX Heat level. Lee's fight is a lot easier than fighting Tong with his stupid weapon that deals a ton of damage when countered at the wrong time. I really wished this had a sequel until I discovered the developers closed down their studio.
Still hoping for Sleeping Dogs II. With a more expanded look on being a cop and being a Sun On Yee. Plus more look at dating cause we had like a few girls *though Not-Ping and Sandra where the only ones i actually liked* and they just end. I think a sequel would be good to get a more in depth look.
I only played its 1st mission in my cousins house it was great and i had watch dogs in ma computer it took me 4 months to complete watch dogs as it had very slow performance if u move a little ahead it'll take 10 seconds
I am so so glad they have mission replay cause my dumbass decided to play this after smoking so i forgot what happened . Thankfully i just found out u can replay them . Im so atupid
The whole game is half-baked but the ending frustrated me particularly. I thought there was one final mission after killing Lee to deal with Pendrew, and I was going to see how Wei Shen was finally exposed as a cop and how the triads were going to react to that but no, all we get is this cutscene, no conversations between Wei Shen and his former comrades which is anticlimactic af. There are a lot left unexplained. What happened to Sun On Yee as a triad (the civil war left many members and all red poles dead. How are they going to beat 18K now?)? How did Conroy and other former comrades react when they know Wei Shen is a cop? Wei Shen killed A LOT more people than Pendrew, how is he not the one going to jail? -_-
@k17 Yeah dogeyes just left as stated in one of the missions. (I'm replying 2 years later you're probably doing something interesting with your life and won't see this)
I know it's a late reply but....... Did you even pay attention while playing this game?? Broken Nose Jiang took over the Triads after Wei left. Wei Shen was not arrested because he was still an undercover cop and so the department understood that he had to cross some lines to maintain his cover. Pendrew on the other hand made deals with the Triad and they had solid evidence regarding his crimes. I can agree upon the ending requiring a bit more expansion but to call the entire game "half baked"?? That's some bullshit
@@anjaneyasreetrout2444 Do you really think being undercover excuses all the things a cop does? Of course we all know this is fiction, but come on, that bit is unrealistic as hell. About the half-baked bit, I am not only referring to the plot, but also the girlfriend missions, which are very obviously just fillers, and the combat system which is just "press counter and button-mash".
The game never explains what happens to Wei, which is strange. His case is done. Uncle Po is dead, and Aunt Jieng is the leader now. So does Wei go after her? Or does he stick with the gang? He’s still a cop after all.
There's a DLC that shows Wei becoming a regular street cop. As for Sun On Yee, I don't think the cops bother to deal with them again especially after knewing their Superintendent is involved in their shenanigans
Deserves a part 2 Its just like GTA Franchise When storyline ends ... you get to do too many stuff like: dating_ Drug chasing "CCTV"_ Kungfu _DLCs "Year of the snakes_ a BNW movie looking Kungfu DLC_ POLICE DLC"
1st they make him un-dead there game developers, and 2nd it took like 7 yrs to get sleeping dogs 1 out, I am prepared to wait another 5 or 6 years to get sleeping dogs 2.
you're playing as an undercover cop, not just some random clan thug sent in to spy on the triad or some shit. this isn't about you its about your character
WHY HAS NO ONE TALKED ABOUT THE TENG'S FINAL LINE?!!!! WHAT DOES IT MEAN?! FOR OVER A DECADE I HAVE HAD THIS SAME UNANSWERED QUESTION! And the worst part is, there's nothing about it, it's never brought up in any forum, any chat, reddit page, yt video, this strange line that has not rhyme or reason too it just went right over people's heads excet mine.
The ending is kind of shit. So abrupt. Felt rushed (it probably was rushed). Sleeping Dogs tricks you into thinking there is so much to do in this big open world and then you reach the end and it's like... That's it?
