I just got a tattoo 13 days ago on my forearm and my muscle is sore does this have to do with the way I sleep? I do sleep very uncomfortable. There’s no infection it looks perfectly fine and peeling and healing.
You do a good job with this channel and I am a collector. I have 14 tats and counting. To be honest I never had a problem with sleeping with a fresh tat. Never got infected or ruined. Live your life ppl don’t be paranoid. The tat will Be there when you wake up.
Actually, my tattoo artist recommended I leave the bandage on overnight and wash it gently the next morning. Then wait another entire day before putting lotion on... Just shows how much opinions vary on the subject. 🤔🙄
Oh yeah, everybody has a different method of doing things. I have a lot of trial and error with my tattoos but I perfected my system to make all my tattoos heal perfectly
I’ve watched loads of your videos the last few days after having had my tattoo. They are great, but the more I watch them, the more things I find I’ve been doing wrong. There are so many rules with aftercare I doubt anyone gets nothing wrong at all!
I have about 70% of my body tattooed and personally I haven’t had any issues sleeping normal after being tattooed. I remember when I first started getting tattooed I was trying to be so careful when sleeping but after a while I realized that I was totally over thinking the whole situation. Now it’s just a normal thing and I have never had any healing issues.
@@alyssavoorhees3712 I did the same with my first few tats. You can buy second skins like Derm Shield or Santiderm and apply them yourself after you do the first cleaning of your tattoo when you get home.
Saniderm is awesome to avoid a lot of these issues. Only problem is when it's on a spot that you move a lot, it might peel off a little earlier than you'd like. Just got a decent sized shoulder piece done and some of the edges have revealed the ink because of how much I move it.
Not sure if anyone can relate but I remember waking up from being dead asleep and completely forgetting I had a fresh tattoo and just scratching the hell out of it. Damn near had a panic attack! Luckily, I didn't ruin it haha
I did the same thing last week I woke up and my new tattoo was really itchy and since I was half asleep I just scratched it...when I realised I nearly screamed xD But it did heal well tho
Using Tegaderm/Saniderm for my last 3 tattoos has been a miracle! Really helps considering it’s on the first 5 days and I don’t have to worry about touching it while sleeping (but I still have to sleep in a comfortable position where I’m not on it).
I had that too but it's really uncomfortable on the neck lol... I had to take it off after 24 hours, it was peeling on the backside and pulling my hair, and itching...
@OJWRU-vid it does. That’s why saniderm is awesome. It still lets oxygen through to the skin. Hence why it’s also used for the healing process of burns and other wounds. Just acts as a protective barrier from germs etc
@OJWRU-vid I did have a bad experience once where the color DID come out. Since my original comment 2 years ago, I’ve gotten about 5 more tattoos and used saniderm with all. Healed perfectly and still look great.
What's sucks is when you get a huge chest piece and you're a stomach sleeper. It takes me literally almost 2 hours to finally fall asleep on my back. Sleep sucks right now. I'm on Day 4 so not much longer to go I can see the finish line lol
The first two nights I put on plastic over it just because I don't trust myself. It worked out fine for me last time but I don't know if this would be great for everyone.
i just got my first tattoo and the aftercare was even more worse than the pain while getting tattoed... i slept 1 week on the couch, worked better for me than the bed... right now the have like 30°C here in germany and i cant even go outside anymore, its hot, the sun is shining and i dont want to wear long sleeve, i would just swet and ruin my tattoo.. Honestly, i took myeself ecpecially for the tattoo 2 weeks off from work and i could not done it better.. i cannot imagine how to handle this properly while working...do your self and your tattoo a favour, if you are getting a bigger tatto, do it during your holidays!

See I’m one of those people, that likes to be completely covered with the blanket, and I’m also a deep, deep sleeper. Like, I remember while on vacation, my family all screamed at me, and shook me violently to wake me up, but I was still sleeping. I have train tracks right behind my house, so I’m already used to sleeping through sounds. So I’m worried once I get my first tattoo, sleep, roll over on it, and not wake up. The pillow idea sounds like it’d work a lot for me since whatever position I sleep in is never the same one I wake up in.
I just got an upper arm blackout sleeve two days ago, and I’m really struggling with sleep. I can’t move my arm much, never mind get it in a position where it’s not touching anything

Hey Mike, i slept like that at first like you did at 4:04 with my new tattoo but it made my arm tired to just hang like that so i moisturized and cover my tattoo with food wrapping plastic around my arm so i can sleep the way i use to sleep.
@@EvolveINK it healed good, i felt less itching and my arm doesn't touch the bed or blanket so it felt great and i just keep my tatto hydrated all the time til it fully heal
@@EvolveINK well that's what my artist said to keep my tattoo hydrated for it to look good when it fully healed, it will look bad if i dry healed my tattoo
When I got my sleeve, I tore off a long section of paper towels and tucked it under my arm, so my arm wouldn't touch the bedding. Believe me I kept waking up bc I was so aware and kept checking to make sure the paper towel hadn't moved. It worked great!
TFW you make sure to be 100% careful keeping your new ink out of the sun and applying lotion just to catch yourself scratching tf out of it in your sleep
I got my daughters portrait last Tuesday and about three days in,I was dead asleep and woke up in pain because I scratched the shit out of it just once but enough to where I woke up and regretted right away ,no damage it just hurt and stung really bad
@@EvolveINK it's not terrible but it's not great, it's good for places that dont bed, like forearm, but on the upper half of your arm where it bends, it starts to sweat more and the saniderm just doesn't stick for me, also taking it off is usually a bitch, feels like it'll probably slow down the healing process, I'll probably still use it until I find something with a less aggressive adhesive
me watching this while wearing a breathable tattoo sleeve on my two day old tattoo because my artist said it was ok as long as i put ointment on it first, debating whether or not to take it off

Got my second tattoo two days ago and started the healing process yesterday and me being stupid slept in a white t shirt with a new big all black shoulder tattoo. Woke up with ink all over the inside of my shirt.
My tattoo was good first and second day, 3rd day my tattoo artist finished the other half and he put numbing spray. Now still the 3rd day I could not sleep because it’s been itching me all night I have been going crazy all night. Im praying it’s not infected
So If I am a back sleeper and I pretty much sleep everynight on my back lol I'm so use to sleeping on my back.. what do I suppose to do in the future when I plan on getting a relatively big size tattoo on my back?
what would you recommend for a tattoo on the hip? would it be better to wear loose fitting shorts to keep a blanket from rubbing it or would it be better with just the blanket for more airflow? (Sadly sleeping in the birthday suit without a cover is less than favorable for me lol)
I used to follow the advice of never letting it touch anything and I have to say I disagree with you man. I see no difference. I could even make the case it healed faster than it used to when I kept it free from being touched. I got a large tattoo on my bicep/shoulder and the only parts that ever tried to scab and heal badly were the parts I left exposed. I'd hide my arm under my pillow and it felt better to sleep on, on top of it healing better in general. But I outside of that. Thanks for the video! Love ya man

Hey, quick question can you drink other than water? When u get your new tatto? Example Apple juice/energy drinks? Etc or is water best? Taking my first tatto tommorow btw :) kinda nervous
I love drinking juice before. The sugar will help you deal with the pain of the tattoo and cause you to not pass out. I would recommend staying away from any drink that have caffeine because it can thin your blood. Hope it helps!

Sooo, I got two chest pieces touched up AND got my first tattoo on the back side of my body, (my neck). Two worst places to get tattooed at the same time for sleeping. Did not think this through well at all though my tattoos are super cool. I've been trying to sleep on my side but I can't even cuddle up to my pillow properly because my tattoos go up to my shoulders. I am dying, dude. I have barely been sleeping at all at night. I got the JoJo birthmark star on my left back shoulder. The tattoo artist put a type of tattoo tape on it and recommended I leave it on for 3-5 days. The thing is, I'm a side sleeper, will sleeping on my tattoo ruin it??

Well like I addressed in this video you want to make sure you keep it away from Touching anything. You might have to sleep a little awkward the first couple of days but then you’ll be fine
as a side sleeper who just got a pretty large bicep tattoo, saniderm save my ass. i did keep off of it for about 3 nights as best as i could, but found myself sleeping on it anyway a couple times.

i have gotten a back piece 3 days ago and it stuck to my clothes when i was asleep for the 2 nights, but i dont see alot of residue coming out. The scab is thicker than my other pieces that i had and it still have a little stinging pain at the part where was stuck to the shirt once in a while , does it affect the healing?
It could if the scab was deep enough in your skin. Once your tattoo is fully healed ask someone or your tattoo artist to examine your tattoo to see if you need. A tattoo touch up.it’s not a big deal if you need one.
Great question! I would say no. I always recommend to remove the wrap when you get home. Reason being the tattoo need to breath to heal. Leaving that wrap on for too long can cause bacteria build up that can infect your tattoo. If it is a product like sanidern then that’s a different story lol
bro i can fall asleep in a uncomfy position but as fast as I fall asleep I'm gonna be like a tornado i can't sleep in one position and I have really deep sleep
What I have always done is I'll get a clean paper towel and put it under the spot of the tattoo so it can lay on that instead of the sheets and everything.
Got a half sleeve. And im taking off the seniderm today. Theres no way to avoid touching the tattoo on the bed lol. Unless i tie a string to the ceiling and hang feom the wrist
Honestly, sleeping with my new tattoo isn’t easy, but having to work with a shirt over my chest tattoos (whole pecs) is way more difficult. You feel so limited and sore but you have to work so no choice. And then having to clean and moisturize it at work multiple times a day and having your shirt sticking to you is great lol
