I agree most of the people I came across wanted to be homeless and were not prepared to stop taking drugs and alcohol...I chose to stop everything and work my way out of the situation and change my life...
@Donnell Okafor Thats a separate issue, I'm saying the streets not being safe for someone who clearly has no money is a problem, also she's just a kid, yes its to some greater or lesser extent her choice but does she deserve to be beaten up for that? many greats like Miles Davis, Antony Keidis were junkies before greatness
I am living in my SUV at the moment and I the cemeteries are actually safer than most places since there's never usually anyone there after dark. But police are going to at least make u leave if they cme across u. But yea, I used to be creeped out just driving thru a graveyard at night...now getn an hour or 2 of actual deep sleep is only possible at a cemetery.
For sure your rite ,this is a shamefull country ,from top to bottom mainly because of greed ,and simply for years and years affordable housing ,hasn't been high on any leaders list because there all ok .
@@patrickcarroll1261 good riddance to bad rubbish, crackheads should all be knocked on the head, horrendous smelling scumbags that commit bad crimes to feed their habits.
Being a taxi driver I lately picked up a salvation army worker who said most of their centres are mostly empty because homeless have to abide by rules ie no drugs or drink etc and believe me I know what it's like homeless myself for quite awhile over winter time thought I was going to die but attitude on some of them is unreal
Many have drink drugs addiction to self medicate from abuse. Maybe salvation army should be more Jesus and forgiveness and acceptance. Provide rehab and counselling and other services that support change and support. PioUs and controlling people
Going cold turkey with alcohol and drugs needs support and medical intervention. You can't expect these people do it without that. The salvation army should knows this.
If governments had not "obliged" local councils to house dross from abroad, legal or otherwise then there would be plenty of housing for our own, and no one would be living on the streets!!
Many homeless people suffer with mental illness and combined with the life they lead it's just tragic. These people should be priority over illegal migrants.
@@FallenAngel9979”Homeless veterans” do you think this is America? You wont find any homeless veterans. Homeless are homeless, simple as that. If there has to be priority, it belongs to the young and vulnerable, but everyone on the streets should get help.
Been there. I know how it is. But good for me i never took drugs and i dont touch drugs or alcohol, and recently quit smoking in the last 5 weeks. Also i have a house now with me and my kids, so im thankful. Just remember if you can help someone as you dont know there story. Please help them
if the world wasnt the way it is and having to protect peoples identities and stuff for good reasons it would be nice if the people from the bbc that interviewed the people in this video could of made some sort of social media account for each person or something of that sort not with their full names or nothing like that just so that people who watch this video and other videos that want to help or able to help in any way are then able to contact that person and help in whatever way they can.....i know this videos from 5 years ago but i hope things have got or getting better for the people in this video and any others at that time and now
I am very confused. As an adviser for many years I don`t think a single homeless female on the street like this ever sought help, I never saw a single homeless female on the streets in local town,, just loads of men. so where did they find these women for this video i ask.
Yeah because she doesn’t wanna be alone, quite rational for a pregnant woman. Maybe they should let the guy stay at her place, and the problem would be solved.
but they dont need no man yeah ? these are the strong independent women ive heard about for 50 years. yep, i get it. why would you choose a man, a house and comfort over this lifestyle.
@waldopepper4069 All because a woman who gets her sh.t together, works pays rent or mortgage payments and doesn't get addicted to drugs or alcohol wouldn't be on the streets. That's the same with men who are addicted to those things ending up on the streets. They need to go get help and come off that sh.t. Got nothing to do with the woman needs a man to do that for her. Men are important just as women are, bored of the crap however that she needs a bloke to do that.
Hearing Suzie talking about sleeping in a bed again, and how nice it was to have pillows after such a long time was a real wake up call to me about how much stuff I take for granted.
I've been homeless, but I was the hidden homeless unlike these people, I didn't look it as I was so ashamed to be homeless I kept invisible, and i was not hanging about on streets , when I went to the council many times for help they never believed I was homeless, and never helped me. so many homeless dont get help because they dont fit in with these people in this documentary.
Power has been taken away from folk, and the ability to generate wealth, and stuck with a System that is out of control (only Human Wrongs motivate). If you dont like it all there is is a one way ticket to the middle of nowhere...
Hi, I can relate to that; the discrimination. The more polite, caring, decent, middle class and the more vulnerable you are; the more the MP, Councillors, Public Servants and the whole lot of those criminals in power DO NOT CARE AND EXPLOIT YOU
One of the saddest things is seeing homeless people turned away from shelters because they have a dog. Near where I love we use to walk past a man with a dog sleeping rough in an underpass in Dundee where he did the decent thing by refusing to abandon his dog - even though society had abandoned the dogs owner. A entitlement on those who operate homeless shelters in Dundee and those who fund shelters who have zero grip on reality
there's a homeless man in Liverpool and him and his dog cuddle into each other at night. He now has a very small tent and best believe his dog sleeps in their with him under the blankets too. dog isn't underweight he's always got food in his bowl and looks more loved than some dogs ive seen with homes to be honest.
@user-fg7vc3wp3e ,bless that man and his dog. I have a friend who is helping those homeless with dogs get into accommodation as the dogs more often than not give those people a purpose and of course help their mental state, dogs are wonderful companions❤
This girl made a passing remark at the start of this video that spoke volumes for the reason many homeless people stay on the streets, she said she would find it very lonely being in a flat without having people all around on the streets.
You have to be aware and comfortable with yourself and alone in your own world before being truly happy. Coming up in absolute chaos can bring about a discomfort if they then not surrounded by it constantly. It's definitely time to have adjustments made because even the roughest animal in the world relents and loves comforts such as quiet and warmth and love. Ask every stray dog and wild animal saved from near death...love and care is always received well
That scares me been homeless. Lose in my home having no where to live is a extreme bad dream to me!. I have no kids but I have a lovely lad nice family etc. I am so grateful for what I have got.
Lee Hollebon, yeah she is very pretty, infact she's a fuckin stunner, and no fella she isn't single, she's my number one love of my life, ppl commenting saying how pretty she is etc just makes me realise how lucky I am too have such an amazing, petty and sexy as fuck girl such as Kathleen in my life .... Plenty more fish in the sea buddy ;-)
It's so hard to be in a hostel with strange men. You get put in hostels with men who threaten to sexually assault you.. Wish where were ones for just women. I pray for these women.
@@yofinance1777not as “astonishing” as the actual sexual assaults that take place. that the problem with you attention seeking men, you see women’s genuine problems and you think “hm how can i make this about me?”
If I were homeless, I would make my way to Dover , get a ruck sack and puffer jacket , get tanning lotion, throw any ID away , then start walking along the M2 towards london Get picked up by police , wont speak English , then I will get a nice hotel room and food and a bit of spending money , at least I would be warm and dry
People don’t realise these girls need more then a room . There should be assisted living for these girls . They need someone there to fully support them for there mental health as well as there drug addiction . They need long term assisted live so there’s always someone until they are strong enough with life . A room and medication just isn’t enough
This is not right, most of these young girls, are inglish, yet they are putting people that come over hear in boats in hotels and giving them money, in my book charaty begins at home, our people should come first, there are good people around but our government should do more for our homeless
Yeah it does.but the tories like foreigner better…it’s cos, they travelled the world,in the 1800s they have a affiliation with them and think more of them then their own people ..they may be homeless ,but their our homeless people.
I really feel for those homeless people at the end of the day they are human beings with feelings ,we thank the lord that’s not us in that predicament ,as we don’t no what is around the corner ,so I never judge
be careful feeling sorry for them. pity won't help them at all. many of them aren't willing to do what it takes to function in society, like following basic rules...
Pisses me of ... Why does the UK government keep sending millions of £.s to other country's for people who need food n shelter what about our own for god's sake god bless the homeless . Bob UK 🇬🇧
But Caroline lucas spent millions on cycle and bus lanes and pissing about with stiene gardens remoddle, can't help thinking tax payers money has been wasted , 60 yrs ago taxes were lower and the council ran everything brilliantly , no way I would move back there now
If 1 in 8 are Women then 7 in 8 are Men. OBJECTIVE non Sexist reporting doesn’t make a biased statement about only ONE Gender. If you are implying that many men are womenHATERS who either attack & rape at women or who sympathise with men who attack & rape at women- then you need to objectively state this in your report, not just write a sexist based statement about 1 in 8 being women while failing to state that the majority are Men.
The length of this documentary would be cut in half if an editor went back to edit the phrase "do you know what I mean" out. YES, we speak English too...we know what you mean. Geez!
This video brings memories of a Tracy Chapman song : "People say it doesn't exist Cause no one would like to admit That there is a city underground Where people live everyday Off the waste and decay Off the discards of their fellow man" ❤ to you all, fellow.
She's not officially homeless but has a flat...she chooses to stay on the street with her boyfriend. Probably because where she lives has rules and he's not allowed.
This thing about "Tanya has a flat, but thinks it is not safe, so sleeps on the streets....." they should follow up on what she means by that, because it makes it look like she might be one of the professional beggars out there, saving, or burning up money on something, and hanging out on streets to get money from people who need it more like - or instance - a person with no flat.
If you arrive via the RNLI you get 4 start hotels and all expenses paid, plus spending money. These homeless people need to be squatting in the council offices, asking where their free stuff is. Because they are entitled to it all, and more.
The one pregnant should be absolutely taken of the streets, wth are they gonna do with a baby in that conditions?! So morally wrong to bring a child in this world to suffer like that
They have plenty of help available to them, don’t buy the sob stories, sleeping on the street is a choice and/or a product of drug abuse in this country, people who are unwilling to help themselves cannot be helped until they decide to accept it
@JamesBrown- These people could go into care if they increased funded to the NHS, expanded mental health and social support programs, built social housing and had heavy sentences for the illegal manufacturing and distribution of hard drugs.
Aww that poor woman saying jails nice and she,d rather be in jail is very sad , it shows how dangerous and rough the streets are to say prisons nicer , it must be terrifying being homeless especially being just 21 god why haven't her family taken her in
I hate hearing pregnant people say “half of everything goes to the baby. Half my food, half my meds, blah blah” that’s not true. That’s what caused pregnant women to become so over weight while pregnant or to have such over weight babies. That’s the wrong mentality. And she is so easy going about the fact her baby is going into care and the fact that the baby is going to be going through withdrawals. It’s very sad. But that’s mental health issues for you.
At the end of the day, they are human beings. And they have been tossed aside and discarded - like the mentally and physically sick, the unemployed and the low-waged - by the Tories who look down their noses at those they deem NOT FIT TO LIVE!
You're assuming they do it by choice. A lot of men don't wear condoms and get abusive when women suggest they do. That's the last thing a homeless woman needs - getting aggro from their partner who is likely the only person who looks out for them.
@@jbjaguar2717 If they're dumb enough to do drugs and make stupid life choices, they shouldn't have kids. It wasn't like they were r*ped lol. Having s*x with unscrupulous loosers is another one of their dumb choices. They're the cause of their own issues🤣, their pity p*rn seems to work on enablers like you lol.
Lady with a redhead really needs help… the other two with the pregnant woman are homeless because of drugs. He was smoking weed so they have money for that… no sympathy on that respect
For a lot of homless because after a few weeks they start too get used too being homless then fitting back into the normal way off life again can become vary difficult for them specialy if they have got drug addiction issues or alcohol addiction issues its not always straight forward too just put them in a house or a flat they need a for recovery first so they can think straight
She’s showing off because the camera is there, please believe me not all homeless people are like this, however don’t give them money buy things like for women sanitary products
People who have to live on the streets it is time That Council ms should rehoused them these Men and Women are Human for Goodness sake take care people
The hostels staff can throw them out in an hour. They hold that power. They seem to enjoy to hold the power over the homeless people. Rules are crazy and its like a prison. They can throw peout for v little and are often bullying the residents. Hostels can be v scary places to be. Drug adicts ex prisoners on release. Bed bugs. No smoking even a cigarette or yiur room is locked up and yr thrown out. Seems unfair the immigrants get housed and fed. The bullying in hostels is yet another factor including the staff.
There have been times, when I have put myself in their shoes, gone out on the coldest nights, to feel what's like for these people. It makes me never forget, those shoes could fit my feet. It also, reminds me, of how lucky I am, and appreciate it. Unwanted, ignored,, stereotyped, rejected. These people are humans, not animals, and feel emotions like we all do. Every story is, different., but many have been abused. My heart goes to them all. As for the mentally ill, Is this what they call, care in the community is?.
That is such bad news , she had real charisma and obviously a lot to offer . Probably could have been a great social worker , with her natural savvy and experience she might have made a real difference , even saved a few lives ? Just from watching her on this , you can tell if she was stable she would be a great mum - looked to me like she had a lot of love to give
They have help available to them, don’t buy the sob stories, sleeping on the street is a choice and/or a product of drug abuse in this country, people who are unwilling to help themselves cannot be helped until they decide to accept it
@@DavidDoble I have compassion for them, you’ve missed my point which is that the help is available to them, they choose not to take it and until they make that choice no one can force them. Very few people in the comments seem to realise that and instead assume that the government is to blame. And you’re talking utter nonsense that it’s people like me that affect poor people with health problems.
