I’ve stood in that line, waiting to board a plane, leaving my family behind, more times than I can count. I only recently discovered this song. I still stand in that line. Thank you for helping me put things in perspective. I tear up each and every time I listen to this song.
On 7/28/2016 my son Jonathan Lee Guyton passed away in a car accident. Before this, he and my daughter Lainey would always have me play this song in the car and they would sing with you boys in the back seat. He loved it so much I played it at his funeral because the words just fit; when I close my eyes I dream I'm with him under the same same stars. He liked to play the banjo and y'all were one of his favorite groups, kind of an inspiration to him. I'm sure he's in Heaven now pickin' and grinnin' looking down on me. Thanks for writing this song. Every time I hear this song I break down but y'all helped create a memory for me that I will never forget. Thank you.

I believe everyone has a right to speak out for what they believe in without others telling them what is right or wrong, what is the truth or lies, this is as much about that freedom as any other, Sleepy Man happens to believe in a cause here and has updated their song to show us that. I don't think they deserve the rebuke they received from those who believe differently. This is about them and their music and I am behind that all the way. Bless them for giving it to us!
The boys have grown up and updated this song since 2014. It is a timeless song beautifully sung, not to overkill like so many others. Well done Sleepy man.
I showed this song to my parents a couple of years ago when my brother was about to have a kidney transplant. We live in Alabama, but the surgery was to be performed in Houston. That meant that during that time our family was separated a lot between all of the check ups and evaluations; my Mom would travel with my brother but my Dad and I had to stay home for work and classes. I think this song really meant a lot to them, especially at that phase in our lives. Sometimes I would hear Dad sing the chorus to Mom when they were on the phone with each other. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Every time a hear this song i look at the stars every night and see all of my friends in the stars and also every night as i sleep i dream of as well i dream of others as well. And also when i hear this song l have love in my spirit and in my heart and i hope that one person will find me and have the same fellings as i do to. Homecomings are the most emotional days of our life, on both sides. I was so happy/excited/scared/sleep deprived that I wore two different colored flip flops for our first homecoming.

Yes, amen. But are they only giving justice, maintaining the right, rescuing and delivering? Okay, maybe I am just badly informed... I just have the impression that the USA often praise their troops as heroes, whereas in fact they are killing innocents, too: people who are just obeying commands, poeple who would acutally love to go home to their families and friends. End the causes, not the effects.

Lovely melody - well played and sung. You can hear that the voice in the chorus has matured nicely over the years since the first recording of the song. The overall sound and production is good - the guitar is nicely recorded and well played. The video subject itself is good and I would pay no attention to the negative comments about the armed services. We owe a lot to the people who make sacrifices for us and protect our country and help other countries regardless of the reasons we become involved.
I'm glad you guys have re-released this. I always thought it had really powerful lyrics, encouraging people to come together. You know, when we're looking around at ground level, each of us is restricted to our own particular local perspective, but when we look up, there's a chance of a shared vision - and hopefully, an understanding that each of us is only a very small part of a big something.

Absolutely beautiful song. Watched all your videos and was shockingly surprised at how talented you all are and at such a young age. The tune is perfect the melody is pure and this is good for ones soul. But that kick ass banjo in the middle of the song just melts me. Well done guys. Very well done. Been keeping my ears on you kiddos for several years now. And I've gotta say, its amazing how much you three have grown in front of us. At first i thought this might blow up in your faces once you guys began puberty, but I was very wrong , you've literally gotten better, this song is one example. Me being an active musician myself, I kinda kept my love for your music in the closet for a very very very long time. But at some point or another I ended up just putting it out there for everyone to hear, and once I actually did that, I was able to start incorporating some bluegrass style techniques into my music, I'm sure you all won't get to my response nor actually respond. I understand, you're very busy these days, but I thought that one day it would be awesome to bring you guys down here to Evansville indiana, your music alone would be sold out shows, but if like to try out my music with you guys in it. Psychobilly , rockabilly, punkabilly, all of it has been done time and time again. But not with talent of your caliber. So if you'd like to give it a whirl, just hit me up. I'm sure you guys wouldn't have to take very long to get a hold of me. I'm not asking to become rich change your style or even get a dime. What I'm asking is to see what we can do in just a four hour jam session. Maybe when you go through southern Indiana. Now vocals wouldn't be necessary as much. But the violin acoustic and banjo, definitely. You guys have progressed so much and so well that I think you three owe it to yourselves to do this. When I was around 12 or 13 and felt like I had gotten as good as I was gonna be, I just wasn't happy, all I played was punk and metal, but about 16 or so years ago, I began dabing into country , blues , rock, classical, and jazz, and even though I'm not the best at all genres., I most definitely started to notice that I started getting even better. I started my family at a very young age, had a lot of points in my life that I completely stopped playing everything. But with some recent events in my life , I've decided to pick my guitar and bass back up and haven't put them down unless its to spend time with my amazing children. I can play almost every type of string instrument . but I play the five string bass and rhythm and lead guitar. Nothing super fancy but none the less, I play passionately. Sorry that I just texted an entire series of novels sounding like I'm trying to join your band or something. Ill cut it short now , lol. You three , just continue doing whatever it is that drives you to produce what you do. And being kind and generous. And most importantly of all, always live humble, life will always provide necessity and wants when you give as much as you do. Its late here and I feel horrible for writing all this.
