August 20, 1973. Forty-three years later. The first two years of our relationship was like this video. He was fresh out of boot camp when we met. We actually saw one another & spent time together perhaps a dozen times during those two years & then he came in on leave & asked me to marry him. That instant Polaroid camera took many pictures during those two years. Wouldn't you know it. His duffle bag was lost during his final trip home. All the letters. All the pictures. Gone. Tens of thousands pictures later ... there has been many an adventure. Wonderful adventures, as well as the most horrendous one of our life. Yet...here we are. Happy Anniversary, Allen. Here's to many more years, pictures and new memories to be made together. I love you.
I'd like to hear more of this story... I wonder where that duffle bag ended up... Wouldn't it be something if is showed up now? Made for movie story... Best wishes to you and Allen. (My middle name)
@SteriGary ... I've often wondered where his duffle bag ended up & have even dreamed that it was delivered to him...a dream so real that I actually expected to see it when I walked into the living room that morning. If only! Thanks for the best wishes ... it'll be 44 years of adventures in a few more months!
Beautiful song, lovely harmonies and fine instrumental accompaniment. They are such talented young musicians and it's a real pleasure to see them grow musically and develop their own acoustic style, as well as play the traditional bluegrass that they are so wonderfully accomplished at performing. These boys are a rare beacon of light in a bleak and largely talentless contemporary musical landscape.
This song will forever be mine and my husbands song. We decided to be together when I lived 1800 miles away. This song helped me feel closer to him. Now, we are worlds apart, as he passed in January. At first this song was too painful. Now, it helps me feel close to him again. Thank you boys for making such a beautiful song about long distance love.
Fine work, gentlemen. I stumbled across your appearance on the Letterman show a couple of hours ago, and I'm a fan. Good to know that Bluegrass is in good hands for one more generation. -jcr
It's 6 in the morning, I'm surfing the net for good music, and I have found a bunch of kids that are incredible. I have to go to work, but I will be back to hear this again!
Guys, I grew up with this type of music and I gotta say I haven't heard a new good Bluegrass band..until now. Yall took me back several years and the songs are extremely moving. Thank you veey much guys, and keep it up!
Don't pay attention to those saying you should have stuck with just playing bluegrass even though I'm blown away by your talent with it . I absolutely love the sound of your original music. Are you guys writing your own lyrics? I hope you all make it to the Columbus Ohio area at some point. I look forward to new original music from you guys.
+Simple y sencillamente Alan I think of them as being a bit like The Avett Brothers ... They have the roots music in common and brotherhood, too. I hope to hear much, much more from them in the future ...
I saw you in concert in 2016 at the Ryman auditorium TN , all the group was very nice and available after the concert, this song brings back many good memories to me, I hope to meet you again one day 👍🏻
You guys are one of the best things to happen to music in these days of synthesized garbage, auto tune, tape loops, and no one actually knowing how to play an INSTRUMENT! Beautiful song.
Like to see what the song called "I would walk 500 miles for you" would sound like with you guys doing it!!! I really believe your time to shine is happening!!!
(Quick FYI: "they're" in that sentence) It's amazing, right? I only found them today too. It's awesome that they're brothers too! Amazing talent in that family, hahaha!
My, you guys have grown up quite some ! Within twenty minutes of watching videos, a nine year old astonishing banjo player and his equally talented brothers grew into teenagers! I know kids grow up fast, but that's ridiculous. ;) Seriously now. You have added beautiful singing to your outstanding talents of playing music. The song is beautiful! Keep up the good work!!
hello from Spain, hi guys, I discovered his music a few days ago and I love this country has sound we like my father and me, but we like the Spaniards are muscia with deep roots but at the same time as current, continue to make this wonderful music a big hug from a place of this world. Thank you.
If you don't rejoice in this, then you are dead already. Simple as. Wonderful. Glory of life. Thank you thank you thank you, for creating, for sharing.
Just beautiful...you have a long, long career ahead of you, between your traditional and original work...You're bigtime, and getting bigger yet...Love you.
This got much better when we were seeing ALL of them together, singing and playing their instruments. And this is a very welcome change to a constant bluegrass style.
Stay true to your heart, it is so beautiful and authentic. The people need in this time, the music for the soul. Much love and many blessings to all of you.
I found this song through Spotify a few weeks ago, and it has helped me and my wife get through her time in Army basic training. I mailed her the lyrics, and we quote it in our letters all the time. Yall are awesome.
I've commented so often on your videos and music that I've ran out of words to express how your music never fails to touch me. I so enjoyed talking to you boys in Decatur and now as then wish you the very best in your journey.
You boys are absolutely wonderful. I'm a Jersey guy who loves Blue Grass music and I'm proud to come from the same state as you. You all have incredible talent and I hope you will achieve all that you set out to do. Thank you for making such wonderful music for us to listen to. You are all a blessing!!
so help me heaven what a wonderful sound. this is a great song, you guys! also, was nice to see the Boys playing to an audience - who all sang along. wonderful music!
So sweet that in your video while the two young loves have cell phones, they use "old fashioned" love letters and photography to communicate for the most part. Reminds me of college boyfriends far away and all the words we wrote back and forth, sending photographs to one another. I'd love to see you open for the Avett Brothers one day. THAT would be quite a concert!
Very Nice! Obviously you guys are great pickers and fiddler.... but it's awesome to see your heart in our music. I love watching you three as you grow in life and in your music!
Gifted, glad, good for yo! Kids will make ppl love bluegrass, I know i do now. I haven't been able to stop listening to sleepy man 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽☝🏼☝🏼☝🏼
"Miles and miles away isn't so far when we look up in the night and see the same, same stars. So I'll lay my head to sleep and meet you in my heart and we'll close our eyes and dream of the same, same stars." Incredible song !! These young guys are really growing and maturing. Simply love them !!!!!
Just discovered you Sleepy Man from NZ. Just love you, and it's not all about beautiful music. This is about America and what we all aspire to you, science, art and everything wonderful. Not the news with shootings etc. You boys are humble and talented, that can only come from a good upbringing from great parents. Please stay true and yes, purchased the music. John S.
Wow. what wonderful Talent and this song Really hits Home. Takes me back to when i first listen to Simon and Garfunkel. Keep up what your Doing. You guy's are Amazing. Come to Oklahoma
8 years later, I’m still watching this over and over. Such a great song by these guys. I hope they keep some iteration of this project together, as they are immensely talented.
The three of you sound awesome keep up the good work. Never thought young kids suck as your selves would sound this amazing. I am musically talented and play a list long of instruments but y'all have out done it!
I am amazed at how great you guys are! And you guys are so young, its just AMAZING! I think I might be wrong but the youngest is 11 then the main one singing is 13 or 14 then the guitar player is 15 or 16. I wish I could see you live and meet you guys!
