Wooah! As a high school clarinetist, great job! Your tone & articulation & style is awesome! Amazing playing to the two of you, and I like seeing you both have fun playing. 👏🏼😃
hello! fellow clarinet here! i’m in middle school, almost high school, and i’m so impressed with your tone and tonguing! my mom is a band director so she knows how to play well, and she agrees with me! (she is a clarinetist as well)
I _never_ knew those trills were even there! And you made them look like child's play! Don't stop playing ladies! Trust me, as an old guy - the longer you lapse, the less you get it back. I'm glad someone is continuing to play real instruments. ♥️♥️♥️ Death to electric guitar & synth! ☠️
@@suzuko_kiriyama yeah, they're fine, but I *_love_* horns -- including both single & double-reeded ones! I'll say annoying things about *concussionists,* but that's just to keep the rascals off balance. _Sing, Sing, Sing_ would be nothing without the sticks. If I'm anti-anything, it's remixes. Keep playing!
i see all of these sleigh ride videos and cryin here bc my band director didn’t give us christmas music, the closest thing we got was a nightmare before christmas which sounds more halloween than christmas. anyways, you sound great, fellow clarinet player, and your band does too!
My band director didn't give us any Christmas music either, and the bassoon parts are usually pretty amazing. As a bassoonist myself, amazing job, both of you!
We have three bands at my middle school. Last year i was in the 2nd, and this year im in the 1st (yay). Last year, the 1st band got amazing Xmas music (sleigh ride, the grinch, etc). This year we got some stuff no one’s ever heard of and it was reallly tiring
As a clarinetist myself (and low reed player), this video brought me so much joy! Such great tone quality for both instruments! It’s so hard to keep the same quality from low notes into high notes on clarinet, and you’re doing great. If I’m not mistaking I’m hearing some bass clarinet somewhere! I love playing bass - have been for over a decade now 😅 I feel old now, lol. Great job!
You feel old.. I'm 79 and still playing....Bass is a total gas...my idol is Eric Dolphy.. no one has ever played bass Clari as does he. Check him out.. Your mind will explode. Plenty of Eric here on YT.. he also plays staggeringly great Alto and Flute. Peace out from TX.
The trills of the clarinetist are beautiful along with the melody of the bassoon. I'm jealous, I play both instruments and your guys's tone is amazing! Amazing job! I hope to be as good as you guys as I advance further up! - Fellow Bassoonist and Clarinet Player
there's an all string arrangement as well, band's probably better though our string orchestra played it (...the band also played it at their concert) and our percussion section was literally the kid who was drumming for the choir (we had a combined concert with the choir), some senior, and like, the chorus teacher and more some kid in my section was supposed to do the whinny (like with his voice) but we ended up just not doing it
Of all the versions of this yearly delight, this one is my favorites. You two are so cute and so adept. The giggling at the horses whinny is perfect. I think you even giggled in tune. I will listen to you guys even in August.
OMG i just watched your video yesterday i’m playing 1st part but its an orchestral version so there’s not many high notes (i have played first part in the band before)
Funny that I never hear the bassoon even though I’m one myself. Love the clarinet too, I think bassoon and clarinet are a cool dynamic duo. Y’all played well btw
I like how everyone hates flutes and clarinets but without them sleigh ride wouldn't work out quite the same. The clarinets and flutes carry the whole show
I play in a band, and I’ve never done basoon not because yea they are more pricey but because I preferred a clarinet but I know someone who plays it and she def recommend renting (not buying EVERRR) cause it’s way cheaper and NOT permanent!! But the instrument is honestly a beautiful sound and I def recommend!
I’m in the seventh grade band, so we do play this song but two times slower😂 it’s a struggle being the only clarinet one in a band of 73 kids, but you’ve just given me so much motivation❤
Played this song on both those instruments in high school. Definitely miss it a lot, this vid reminded me of a lot of good memories and you both sound great!
I’m currently in the 7th grade and started clarinet in the 6th grade so I played clarinet for a year.btw you sound very good with the high notes,i usally squeak
@@suzuko_kiriyama lmao we're the same travis and danny daniella that you know, we just became alief taylor fanboys bc taylor schools gotta stand up for each other 🙇♂️
Clarinet is...interesting. Our fingerings are usually pretty straight forward but there are so many things that can go wrong with the reed, let alone the rest of the instrument.
Hello 6th grade clarinetist here! Still got a lot to learn ik but ur articulation is very good and also ur playing hope to be as good as u in high school!
Hey!! I know I'm not really the person who you asked for advice, but I play a bit of clarinet (my main instrument being flute/piccolo) and I would recommend playing scales and working on confidence!!
flat chin (MOST IMPORTANT), don't bite the mouthpiece, blow air straight forward not down into the instrument, light tongue (only one taste bud on the tip of your tongue should be touching the reed). other than that, just try not to create bad habits. one of my bad habits is slightly moving my chin when tonguing.
Fantastic job! I'm seriously going to have to put this into my Christmas music rotation next year! I love the bassoon too playing the lower harmony! There's a video here of two flutists of this same age group playing this same song, it too is excellent! Is this a high school Christmas concert?
@@suzuko_kiriyama I'm surprised that this is the only content on your channel. Why aren't you showing more concerts? You have a skill, you should show it off! Or do a video talking about your instrument, how you got started, what it's like playing in the school orchestra or other bands, etc. There's a lot of interesting content here! Musical journeys are always interesting. And if your bassoonist friend or anybody else has a channel they should do the same. A lot of time and hard work has gone into acquiring your skill, you should be PROUD! As a musician myself I know what it takes, and it ain't easy! 🙂
@@suzuko_kiriyama Cool. No rush, only suggestions. Don't overburden yourself lol! I will subscribe and get notified if you post something new..Keep up the good work! 👍🏻👍🏻
