First aid volunteer here - yes, I have done first aid cover for fright nights and yes, the actors do sometimes get injured when people get scared and just lash out at them by reflex. Once had to wash loads of makeup off a guy so we could work out what was makeup blood and what was actual blood. He was in good spirits though. I think they see it as a badge of honour. When you're that good a scarer someone tries to hit you...

i have a theory scary games shouldn't be too hard or you just end up frustrated instead of scared (like the generator level haha.) loved watching the slendering!

Any puzzle is hard when you are scared. You don't need to make them extremely difficult because it like you say, it just becomes really frustrating and stops the thing being scary. If you make your main scary thing stop being scary it's not going to be great for the rest of the game

As a scare actor at thorpe park, we get assaulted and hit quite a lot, I’ve been punched and thrown down onto tables when I wasn’t even scaring people at the time, I’ve just come back from taking a few days off due to a dislocated jaw from being hit by a guest. Some of my fellow cast members have been headbutted and shoved and even scratched by peoples nails. It’s a tough job but it is lots of fun.

That's rough. You'd think people would have the common sense not to throw punches when the whole point of the experience is that people are going to scare them. Glad you are persevering though. Must have good healthcare.

@@weneedaladder8384Some people don't know in advance that that's how they're going to react. That's why I don't go to those kinds of things. I wouldn't hit a performer intentionally but I might out of reflex before I could stop myself.

@@weneedaladder8384 we don’t get healthcare, technically we arnt supposed to come out of the maze unless we need first aid. If it’s a purposeful assault then we report and then carry on performing if it’s an accident then we just move on or get first aid if we really need it.

I went to a spook house where guys in black body suits had hidey holes in the wall where they would grab guests. Some big scare happened and I back pedaled hard and felt the back of my head smash into one of the people in the wall's face (hard enough that it hurt me) but by the time I turned around they were gone. I still feel awful about it because there's a good chance they lost a tooth or broke their nose. I have had a hard time enjoying haunted houses ever since.

Ah the traditional return of Andy scaring me more than the game. I was in the middle of a witty comment when Andy made me throw my phone into the air. That'll teach me not to comment and watch at the same time. That church scare scream still gets me every time I go back.

I think it's worth noting that this is actually Andy's third Slender run - there are the early videos, but Mike and Andy also played it in 2017 for a Halloween livestream. Doesn't entirely count, as he was a spectator, but he also sat through Ellen playing it for Hallowstream. Andy has been more than slent over the years.

Slenderman was created by SomethingAwful user Eric Knudsen (under pseudonym Victor Surge) for a Photoshop contest in 2009. It was popularized later the same year by the Marble Hornets video series on RU-vid, which treated it as a sort of found-footage horror featuring a mysterious tall, suited figure glimpsed in the distance. It was 14 years this June. This monster is less than half my age. Slenderman is Gen Z.

I always get a kick out of how excited they get over Candy Corn. In my life I don't think I have ever heard anyone, anywhere, anytime, ever speak positively of candy corn, and it makes me wonder if anyone has ever decided to test that the OXBOX crew aren't replicants, space aliens, or doppelgangers from an evil parallel universe?

I like candy corn but I have never once been excited about it. The degree to which I like it is to eat like 5 pieces, yet the degree to which it is present at Halloween is that I could probably fill a kiddy pool for like fifty dollars. The ratio is too off to be excited.

Watching this on VOD is a great example of how much more horrific RU-vid's ad placements are than games like this. I never minded YT ads, I get why they happen, but when they're placed at the point of every effing scary jump point of this video, WORDS need to be had. Really hope they go back to just simple end-of-video or banner placements...Something that doesn't interrupt the effing flow of the video. Anyway, great stream guys, but need to vent frustration for the VoD (Yes, I know about ad-blockers...No, because I shouldn't have to)

Comparing the mine level to when Ellen played the old version of Slender it definitely feels like they ramped up the difficulty pretty significantly. Either that or Ellen just got lucky with the AI?

How tf is getting slent a reasonable side effect of any medication??? Let alone one treating ANXIETY?! Now, I've never seen a slender being myself, but I do have depression and anxiety, and I feel reasonably confident in my assertion that getting slent would have a greater adverse effect on my mental health than any benefits brought on by the medication. Has OX done a "7 Dumbest Doctors in Video Games"? Because this one deserves a place

I used to work at an escape room and we used to have scare actors in the room but we took em out cus drunk men ruin everything. I've done some scare acting too and it is great fun to be reasonably awful to people

Ah Slender, the true horror character of Hallowstream been a staple of Outside Xbox /Xtra and Halloween since the beginning and in all the years he is no less scarier than he was back then. I'm sure Andy would have great pleasure in telling you that, if anything with the advancement of graphics and stuff, he has only got more scary, powerful and intimidating, the absolute horror of it all.
