Another great video Kelly- here is a question. When tying dumbbell eyes on- do you rely solely on thread wraps to secure it to the hook shank or do you use zap to help bond those to the hook shank? That is also one of the times I can see the benefit of having an accelerant as when I tie articulated flies that is the first thing I tie onto the front hook- although I've never used it before.
Kelly that stuff with brush has been around a long time. It's being sold as false nail adhesive for under two bucks. Sold in drug and beauty supply stores
Stay away from Gorilla super glue with brush and nozzle...way to thick imo for tying uses. Also dries cloudy and brittle/crusty on some materials with little penetration.
good info. I have gotten a lot of negative comments over the years recommending against using super glue your critique of it making materials brittle is spot on . You also make great point to the importance of tying technique toward the durability of a fly.
Could you do a video/respond to this comment on how to fly fish drought-affected still waters? As a flyfisherman in California, the lakes are low and hard to fish. Do you have any tips?
gunnersfish1 Do like I did 15 years ago, save your nickels and dimes and fish "The Rockies" you'll find great fishing and super people. I've stopped in the Slide Inn several times and found great material and a great staff.
+Steve Davies , I seldom use the UV stuff, and never for general gluing. Eye attachment on some products and if I want to change the bouncy of a head, but for the most part I use lacquer or Zap. KG
