A quick demo of setting up our Slider Bug Net over one of our ponchos in its hammock mode. This bug net is simple, no zippers, easy in easy out. On this camp trip in the spring on the desert the No-See-Ums were clouds everywhere, the Slider Bug Net made for a great sleep with no irritating bugs. The bug net shown is in our ATACS iX Camo.

@@tleechapman6991 I like mine to. The only thing I did different an like it even more was bought a 14” Dyneema dogbone in 1/8th with eyelets on each end. So I removed the 550 cord that came with it. Removed the netting from its bag. Bend one end of the dogbone and ran the other end with the eye through the inside of the netting out through the foot side and pulled the eyelet through the grommet hole at the bottom of the bag. And pushed all the netting back in an the other eye hangs a couple inches out of the opening side of the bag when it’s synched down. So now when I use it I set the daisy chain webbing up to the tree and connect the bottom of the netting bags eye from the dogbone to the daisy chain with a toggle. Than the opening side connects to the cord of the poncho/hammock Dyneema cord with a second toggle on that side. Than the head side of the poncho connects to the daisy chain web with a toggle as usual. But doing that allowed me to run it as a set in series with the poncho as one. Slide it out of the bag over the hammock as normal. And packing up it all slides back into the bag and synch it closed an just pull the toggles an it’s packed. And ditched the 550 it came with an use Dyneema for the ridgeline I just keep in the bag with the tarp stuff. Also to that another thing I did was got another Dyneema cord for a second ridgeline that goes in the same tarp bag with the other cord. That can be used or not. But the way by design the ridgeline that holds it up off the face ect is ran through the tabs on the outside, which is fine like that. But I personally if I’m in a spot long enough like the option for an “hangtime hook” media hook to hold the phone movies or whatever or an led lantern or ridgeline organizer or what not. So what I did was took a hot paperclip and melted into the netting about a 1/4” hole right after the last external ridgeline tab and one more right before the second one on the head side. And picked up from home depot some of that quick drying tool handle repair rubber dip. And took a pencil an dipped it in some. And ran a bead of the rubber around the edge of the two small holes I made. On the inside an outside of the netting. Basically made two rubber grommets out of them two small holes. Made it better findeable. And stop any opening bigger of them two small holes. But it allowed me to than. If I choose to run another light weight Dyneema ridgeline through the inside of that netting with me. That I was than able to connect the phone hook or organizer or lantern or whatever to. And the only weight it holds is items I choose or prefer to have inside of it with me. And as small as the holes are. If I choose not to use that option. Pretty much nothing finds them holes to get into it. The netting from that is nomore opened to bugs than the synched head end or foot in for anything to get in from there. So all said an done. I have a ridgeline for the tarp. A ridgeline for the netting. Than if wanted a second ridgeline a few inches under the one holding the netting actually up for media ect. But for the dogbone an netting bag. All that did was adding the need for one more toggle. So 3 instead of just the two. 2 on the netting bag side at the feet an one on the head side. I just hook higher up on the daisy chain side on the feet side to account for the extra 14” or whatever on the foot side for that little extra length.

The beast in the mosquito net on the ground like storm shield should work with low ridge line.

I like it but if there was a vertical ykk double sided zipper in the middle it would mean you could leave the bug bet string up to the ridge line . And get in and out much easier.

Use a carabiner instead of your aluminum poles.

Yes you can certainly use carabiners instead of the toggles, whatever you prefer. The Daisy chain webbing comes with a set of toggles so you can use those if you want to. Also the webbing is earth tone colors now.

I have an ATACS IX HD Poncho & I’ve been thinking of getting a bug net, really like that ATACS net. Hey Perry how’s shipping to Canada 🇨🇦 right now, I have heard it’s crazy expensive at this time?

Same. I was thinking of buying one but am not sure about cost either. Do you know how long it takes to receive a poncho from WI?
@alf3553
@alf3553 3 года назад
@@johnmacias9487 WI makes most of there items on demand, so it depends how busy they are. As far as carrier shipping times well to Ontario it’s about 10-14 days depending on how long customs keeps it. I’ve had mine for a few years & it still looks great, so definitely worth the money.
