This guy knows his stuff guys. I have been throwing sidearm due to mechanical flaws. I was always an over the top guy. I realized the YES motion fixes my glove side and gives me the shoulder tilt so I can achieve full external rotation of the throwing arm and also throw a lot harder. The shoulder tilt also allows me to load the scapula throughout the entire motion. When you do a lateral raise with your arm, you do that when you throw over the top, but sidearm is sort of like clapping your hands together. I’m thankful that I found this guy. By myself I overthink everything but Dan makes it simple.

Ahh during my pitching days my number 3 outpitch after my 2seam/Sinker the old slider just don't hang it (zone 5 cement mixer anyone) 🤣the love and hate of when this pitch when it's on vs when it's not😂.Only thing I would add is the higher your primary fastball velocity is (usually need above 93 at higher levels ) as 92-93 is the cut off point where good hitters can sit middle speed pitch and react still to the fastball , once in the minors this is the speed most hitters going to the next level can layoff and react especially if they sit in even counts 1-1 0-0 (Ted Williams, Manny Ramirez Albert Puljous Hitting Approach going with the pitch or gap to gap if you land in zone 5 (Middle of the Plate Center Cut) the opposite field with the fastball or slider and pulling your mistake breaking stuff if hung inside ) on your middle speed pitch with runners in scoring position less than 2 outs that was the approach these men lived by until they had you dead to rights on 2 missed breaking pitches and in 1-0 3-1 2-0 counts and 2-1 if you have no control of your breaking stuff that day only weapon left was the good changeup at that point , Middle speed for those who don't know is your second fastest pitch after your primary fastball usually the 4 seam fastball for most pitchers , a pitcher who throws 93Mph 4seam has a 84-87 Slider 81-79 change and 70ish curve the middle speed is the slider, add 1mph 2mph so they time you at 87-90 when starting to load on your timing stride and they can react to your offspeed (keeping hands back) or plant early when sitting dead red heat , these are middle speed pitches if you have a 4seam fastball (Cutter 2seam Sinker Slider Slurve) the harder you throw your primary fastball the more you can throw up in the zone with the heater and right below that zone with the slider that is for the k strike out weak contact counts , but listen to this man guys 100% accurate on the counts and depth you want to separate , add a good 2-seam/Sinking fastball which breaks opposite of the slider and it's good night ballgame over vs many hitters ,good info Bro

I am 60 and all I throw is sliders in my rec league. It is the only pitch that I can throw for a strike. So I just try to throw a strike and make the batter adjust the swing. I get a lot of pop ups to second base and right field. I get a lot of weak grounders to short and third. And I give up a few absolute blasts to left but mostly deep center. To lefties, I throw over the middle and break it inside and down to get grounders to first and second. The good lefties crush it sometimes. The key is not giving up walks but even more importantly, staying out of long counts that let the hitters see many pitches. I grip the skinny seams with both index and middle fingers and put the thumb straight down on another seam. When it works best, it looks like a fastball with late break. When I am doing it badly, it looks slow and slurvey. The grip has a lot to do with it. It is best when I have a right angle arm angle and throw it straight down and let it slide off and I snap the wrist to give it a little down movement. What gets me is when the batters see me the second time in a game. So I try to throw at least medium hard. Throw strikes. And let the ball get put in play quickly so my fielders don't get tight and make a lot of errors. You don't have to be great at the recreational level, just consistent with what you try to do. If you can work pretty fast, avoid a lot of deep counts, no wild pitches - your coach and team mates will support you as a pitcher. If you take forever on every at bat and throw stuff that gets behind your catcher and stop a lot of play with too many step offs and things like that - nobody will want you to pitch. If you can handle your business on the mound, it is amazing how much better your fielders will be. But when they get stiff and mentally tired waiting forever to get a ball in play - that is when they make errors all the time.

not "unpopular" - more like nonsensical
