Ha! I’m not the only person who writes an “R” on the “reference” surface when making things! Great minds and all that...

Really impressed with a lot of your work. A sliding table isn't a project I had even considered an option to DIY. Thanks for the inspiration! Gotta point out that long sleeves, hoodie strings, and gloves are always a very bad idea with rotary machines. I was worried for you when I saw that glove on your hand at the drill press. Blisters and splinters are always better than an amputation because your glove or sleeve got caught in a machine. Ok, done lecturing. I'm subscribing and telling some friends about your channel. Your shop is really organized with care and, your attention to detail is great. Super jealous of the metal lathe! Keep up the good work!

Hey Mate! very interesting project. Just a tip on the machining part. It's always good just to machine only a partial area first and not the full length. Example: if you were to machine 12mm dia. x 20 long. from a 25mm round stock. machine about 2mm in length and down to the 12mm. Once your happy with the size then you can just machine the remaining full length. Also if you're machining two ends on a lathe its better to center drill both ends, then machine them between centers by using a carrier. This will ensure that both ends are true to each other at 100%

when machining metal on a lathe the friction brings heat intoo the material and the material heating causes it to grow , let the part cool before taking the last skim might be all thats needed to get the size needed without the taper

+watahyahknow i actually cut with the carriage this tome instead of using the compumd slide so to avoid any taper, but yeah, i really did underestimate heat as a factor in expanding the size of metal

I feel like I left the suspense just on the right video, it's not that I don't want to publish the next one, it's that I am still waiting on some delivery to finish it.

Why on earth are you making such a fuss about this? It's just normal lathe-work! Good Lord... If every machinist would be as squirmish as you... Wouldn't even like to imagine. MAN UP!
