I really appreciate you taking the time and effort to make these videos. Was wondering if you ever used the festool miter saw. If so, do you think I could get miters close in accuracy as your sliding table saw?

Steve, you have an impressive shop. However, what's even more impressive is your knowledge of machine operation, tooling, and the execution of your tools in your projects. Some may say that your shop is excessive (believe me, I've had comments like that on my videos) but I see your shop as a perfect complement to your knowledge. It's like a master chef using his custom made knives. Such a tool makes sense.

I wanted to thank you for making the videos on getting the most from a sliding tablesaw. I've had one for a couple years and have found the learning curve a bit steeper than expected. Wonderful videos. Keep then coming!

Thank you Charles, this is one of the reasons for making these videos. I remember that learning curve when I first started with a slider and back then, RU-vid did not exist. Glad to be of help. Steve

While on Vacation in Arkansas, I stopped by Marc's Machinery and he told me about your channel. I have purchased a Felder k700s and was curious about some tips for the sliders. Enjoy you channel

Steve, I think you have a Martin similar to mine. Having problems with the program for cutting parallel grooves with a 1/4" wide dado blade. I set the width of the kerf in the blade specs; set the same for the groove kerf width; and set the left-right in that same dado blade specs and it is giving me .030 more width in the groove program than I need. I reset the blade specs and ESCAPE and it automatically returns to that .030" of extra kerf in the grooving which means another pass of too much wood removed. Got any ideas?? Vincent The heat wave is past and it is like California weather in Chicago.

Hi Vincent. I have never been able to get the program to work properly with the dado function other than with a standard blade. I think the problem is with a configuration setting when removing the spacer, or the problem could be me which is likely. I would suggest contacting Martin to assist getting into service mode and getting guidance on correcting that.

Thanks Steve - another great video. I'm a bit jealous about the length compensation feature - that does help a lot. Cheers

Hello. As you are a Martin owner, this question can help me out alot as i am setting up my shop now and could really use your imput. Leaving pricing out of the equation, 1st) what tablesaw (Martin) do you have? 2nd) your thoughts on Felder K 940 S vs Martin T65? Your imput would help answer a few questions for me. Thank you kindly. Scottishxpride, Texas.

I have a 2007 model Martin T60 Classic. I haven't looked at either of the machines you are considering but they are in different classes IMO. For a more realistic comparison, I would suggest comparing the Martin to one of the Format4 machines. I do like the Felder XRoll sliding tables as they are very smooth. The Martin table is smooth but is much heavier so requires more effort to push. It may not be an issue but I can state the resale value on the Martin will be much better than the Felder machine. Last year, I saw an auction on a Martin T60 Classic (standard configuration with no additional options) go for about the same as the machine cost in 2007 if that is any indication. Hope this helps.

...at this moment, yes it does. In the planning stages (3 phases) for additions to be done here. With the last phase being my wood shop (50 x 75). Having looked at Felder, then looking to Martin, i'm liking what i see on Martin more. Yet, on Martin, i'm seeing alot of people talking about poor quality service after the sale, at least here in Texas. Not real sure you might know anything on this. Yet, when buying 60 to 75k worth of machines to do something, customer service plays an important part. Not real sure yet, how this is factoring in my thoughts, but, i'm leary. I know there is a Felder salesman north of Dallas. So not real sure yet, if this is helping me either. Still like Martin, and leaning heavily that direction. Just leary at the moment if, that makes any sense. Thank you for your time. Oh, am looking at Martins: T70 saw; T 54 Joint Planer; T45; and T 27; with power feeders on all. Do you have any of these, and what kind of customer service have you had? Thanks again, for not only your time, but, your thoughts as well. Yours in Christ...Scottishxpride, Texas.

Hi ScottishPride. The only Martin I have is the T60 saw. If I had the coin and space, I would love to have a shop full of Martin equipment. I have used the T54, T45, and T12 shaper and they were all excellent. The T27 is the my dream shaper and IMO, the best on the market but that comes at a steep price. I have had no issues with Martin service but they are a smaller company (at least in the US) so you may have a wait depending on schedule. I did have a 5 week wait to get a new computer from Germany on the T60 and Martin was very responsive. Felder makes some nice stuff and they are very aggressive on pricing and with good service (it wasn't always that way and they have improved significantly over the past 13 years). I think Flory is the manager of the Felder office in Dallas and he has been very helpful to me in the when he was with service on an older Felder ( I remember he called on a Saturday on his own time to help resolve my issue).

Hi, I live 15 minutes from the Martin USA headquarters in Charlotte. I stop by to visit a few times a year. I don't own any Martin or Felder equipment at this time. I am interested in the same machines you are in the future but not ready to pull that trigger yet. My impression is that Felder is a much larger operation in the US. But I would not hesitate to purchase Martin here. I am friends with Al their technical manager and he is very responsive to customers from what I have seen. They carry a good stock of parts in Charlotte and get containers of machines and equipment from Germany multiple times per month. They can also air ship certain parts. They also have a large stock of Aigner accessories in stock in Charlotte. I believe all machines arrive through Charlotte except perhaps for a larger dealer in NY that may get containers directly from Germany. I have met their dealers from California and Indiana. They have a few others about the country too. All pricing quotes are generated out of Charlotte from what I understand. So a price from a dealer will be the same as buying direct from Martin. The dealer may throw in other services or accessories that they wish, but Martin USA sets the machine price. The best place to currently see Martin machines operate is the Atlanta or Las Vegas shows. They are expanding their space in Charlotte and should be setting up a demo area. They will be having an open house in Charlotte in early March. There is a Wood Expo here then and Biesse and Weinig/Holzher also have open houses during that same time. I believe afelder has a presence in Charlotte but don't know if they do any open house here. From what I have observed Martin sells more sliders and shapers than anything else. Although someone did walk in and run a couple boards through a jointer last year at the open house and buy a jointer on the spot. I think most buyers already have a good knowledge of the Martin quality, performance and cost. I know a one man shop in NC that purchased a T27 last February and it was in the mid $50k range. Martin is also representing and selling a number of other German machines now. They are also adding some lower cost 3rd party machines to their line. You can of course learn more on their website or by contacting them. I would say that depending on options to get a T27, planer, jointer and higher end saw you could be looking at $150-200k. But it also is fairly rare for Martin machines, especially newer models, to come on the used market.

Also Joe Calhoun has a shop in Ouray, CO with a lot of Martin equipment. He works with Rangate and offers workshops during the year. I believe they are called Alpine Workshops. You can find out more by contacting Joe or Rangate.com
