Thank you! Been waiting for the CR-V gen 2 to appear on your channel. I'm really liking mine (2006/petrol/manual), a workhorse with lots of space. The AWD performance seems pretty typical for that era (based on what i've seen in your channel), not bad.

With the passage of time and the large number of videos shot, the results of this test are not really surprising. The CR-V shows the slight response times of the Dual-Pump system in returning torque to the rear. It also shows a certain limitation in the amount of torque it can send back, but if seems sufficient when the rear 2 wheels have grip. It also shows effective traction control, but this is totally dependent on ESP. As is often the case, this system is less effective at the rear. Combined with the limits of torque transfer, this is the limit. Finally, the Rav 4 has quite similar problems. Here, it's the viscous coupling that manages the locking rate of the central differential that is limiting. As a result, even on the front axle, traction control is not sufficient. In the case of the Forester, we can see quite clearly the difference in the way the multi-plate clutch operates between position D and 1. Traction control seems to be active earlier and more strongly in 1. Conversely, ESP seems rather intrusive.

W tej generacji ravki opcją był bodaj Torsen w tylnym moście. Piekne czasy, kiedy ksiegowi nie mieli jeszcze tyle głosu przy produkcji aut. Ogolnie jak na swoje lata wszystkie auta się spisały.

I ended up getting a ‘10 CRV even though I kinda wanted a Subaru. I didn’t want any potential head gasket issues, consumer reports rates the Subarus quite a lot worse in terms of long term reliability and the interior was uglier. Pretty happy so far with our “new” CRV. Had 101,000 on the clock and feels like new.

I’ve owned an 04 CRV AWD 5 speed manual and 07 Impreza NON-TURBO automatic wagon. CRV did better than my Impreza in the winter but BOTH NEEDED LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIALS for where I live. On the way to have a two installed in the CRV but sold it due to rust/rot. Impreza was traded in due to miles and headgasket.

@@nagval7592 if you know something about cars, you know that main benefit for Subaru is their 4wheel drive systems..Honda has other benefits - reliability, space, comfort,.. and their system is really simple and low maintenance - but as we could see, pretty well capable! So yes, Honda suprised positively, despite it is not in the same level of 4wd sofistication.

of corse subaru with center diff lock at low range as expected, it rocks... but only for snow because of the small ground clearence... CRV, wich i own is so impresive!!! fistly because it fails only on the one test to the rear whell wich is ecpected because the torque that is tranferd is only 30%!!! and adittional the hydrolic system is the most reliable from every other system... the rav4 wich well kown as an off road car is 3rd and it strugles
@4x4.tests.on.rollers
@4x4.tests.on.rollers 8 месяцев назад
Subaru doesn't have low range. There's also no diff lock, there's a clutch pack which can temporarily lock the diff if computer decides to do it. It's also permanent awd system, so is the one in Toyota (mechanical center diff). CRV has on demand awd system and its biggest disadvantage is that it is only reactive system, there's no handling assist.

The ground on which we drive does not roll underneath the tire like a roller does so therefore you cannot absolutely get any traction whatsoever on a roller when it is not stationary but the ground itself is stationary and the right tire can help grip on ice or mud or something else
@4x4.tests.on.rollers
@4x4.tests.on.rollers 10 месяцев назад
I don't get your point. Tire on the ground has grip and it should pull the car, that's the point of the test.
@poetsrear
@poetsrear 7 месяцев назад
@@4x4.tests.on.rollersI think he means what I was thinking as well. This is laboratory test. Even the sloshiest mud gives more traction than the rollers with relatively zero resistance; you'll never end to this kind of situation in real use. I'm not saying that's implied, but it's just something I thought.
@4x4.tests.on.rollers
@4x4.tests.on.rollers 7 месяцев назад
@@poetsrear But that's not correct. Roller under load has quite a lot of resistance, probably more than black ice and definitely more than wheel in the air, which is normal situation.
