$200 for a slip joint to cut my apple? No thanks. I’ll stick with my $450 small Sebenza frame lock for that task......

Eric Bryant I do I use a spyderco pacific salt never rust and half the price of one of these I’ll never pay that for a pocket knife $100 is the limit for me

If you think that’s crazy take a look at custom slip joints sometime. That’s some real sticker shock.

Cameron Clark At least part (a big part) of what changes the price is because the more parts that are needed to assemble a knife, the more tooling that’s required to manufacture it and new tooling is not at all cheap.

I purchased a proper blue g10 with coated s30v blade. My helper is purchasing a zt0230 slip for himself. I must say later in the year i can see getting the zt for myself too..

I bought the proper when it first came out in s30/micarta and it was a great secondary daily beater. I’ve got the 0230 on the way currently to compare. Jack Wolf is on top of the model traditional slipjoint market now though and im needing to add a few.

My Proper came with a really nice leather sheath (fits the knife when it’s closed). I just ordered the ZT for my son but don’t think it has the sheath.

waited over a year to get the proper never committed… saw and handled the ZT, bought it two days later.. its the fidget/ flick factor for me.

Would consider the ZT with a drop- or clip-point. Almost bought it at one point, but the blade shape is a no for me.

We can start with one is discontinued, the other isn't. In fact Benchmade loves discontinuing their products

I'm not getting either, because I like locking knives, but if I had too, I'd get the Benchmade in s30v. I like the look and feel of micarta way more than carbon fiber. Plus the thought of sharpening s90v if it gets too dull gives me nightmares 😎

I would never buy another benchmade again. Way to pricey for them to break. My control fell apart. Super Greek was decent but the blade coating was scratched off way to quick. Sent a couple of them back to get back a toothpick. They sharpened them and ground half the blade away and had the audacity to charge me half price for a new blade. ZT all day for me

Funny, how "non-traditional" knife manufacturers are jumping into the "traditional" knife market. I have no problem with "new entrants" moving into the market. My issue is their boutique pricing on wares that aren't "proven." Based on the pricing of the two offerings, and their lack of proven capabilities in this "non-traditional" segment. . . . . .I'll pass!

Carbon fiber was invented in 1958... Not exactly a "new" material.

Stephen Barabas Yes, carbon fiber has been around for quite some time but what bumps the cost is it’s still prohibitively expensive to manufacture. Until someone comes up with a more efficient way to produce it’s always going to be a costly commodity.

Lol who’s buying these 200$ tiny slip joints?? I mean really? It’s like 5 dollars in carbon fiber, two screws, and ten dollars of steel... this is coming from benchmade and ZT, not William Henry
