My first favorite slipknot song. I've had at least 30 favorite slipknot songs but eyeless was the first that really pulled me in. The very first words in it as well as their delivery had me hooked for life
Slipknot's "Wait and Bleed" (studio version, not music video version) was their first single and was nominated for a Grammy. Such a raw energetic song and set the stage for their recipe for success. I recommend checking out this earlier content over their newer stuff.
Wait and Bleed didn’t win them a Grammy. Before I Forget did. Everyone wants to push the old stuff, but honestly, songs like Yen and Solway Firth (from the newer catalogue) make Wait and Bleed look like a high school garage band demo. Coming from a ‘95 Iowa maggot. Much love. 🤘🏻
@@feral8163 Totally misremembered, thanks for the correction! I do personally prefer their older stuff mainly since their newer material sounds a little cornier/formulaic but it definitely comes to personal taste!
Fun fact: Bone Church was a jam session recording from recent years that never made the album. They’ve done songs like this in the past (‘Til We Die, Iowa, Danger - Keep Away) but they’ve never been singles. Only really ear candy for the maggots. Cheers. 🖤🤘🏻
@@venumbeams1231 yes and to me the new avenged sevenfold definitely is different from anyting previous that the couple songs I've heard are damn good 🤘☠️
The slow, melodic tempo and mood of this reminds me so much of Tool/Puscifer and just makes me wanna turn off the lights, light some candles and incense and pour a drink and kick back and reflect on life.
Glad you guys are diving into the lyrics more again, since you mentioned not being sure whether you should bother, it's appreciated lol. That said, didn't expect this at all from them, it has a lot of layers in the atmosphere though, which is cool. Apparently it's a song they'd been working on since 2014 but they finally finished it and chose to release it as like a standalone joint, so not sure if it'll actually be part of any album, but yeah
This is more experimental Slipknot, they do it from time to time, it's not often, but everytime is greatly composed. You guys should do Slipknot - Vermilion, i think you will appreciate the hell out of this, not popular track, but very "progressive" Slipknot, and still pretty heavy.
Props to you both as always, for reacting to stuff you wouldn't normally listen to. You've actually turned me on to a few things I wouldn't normally get exposed to. Your channel is thought provoking and the production is excellent.
Believe me: you guys need to nosedive straight into the Vol. 3: The Subliminal Versus album as a whole. I probably wouldn't have been too keen on Slipknot if I heard their debut album first if I'm being honest. I even got both of my parents into this album! This song definitely sounds like it's a transitional or interlude but I dig it. Slipknot has never really disappointed me although sometimes I can get tired of a song.
Adderall by slipknot The bass, the melodic tones and atmosphere that this song brings is a beautiful masterpiece. Very different from their heavier music.
This'll probably get lost in the comments, but there's a small Aussie band that I'd quite like to recommend, someone who I feel deserves to be significantly bigger. They're called The Gloom in the Corner, a metalcore band with a whole host of intriguing influences and tidbits to their sound (orchestrations, hip-hop, alt rock). Plenty of melody in some songs, but they go so hard. Behemoth is a track I think you'd dig, but so would many of your viewers. An extra piece of info, is that they're storytellers. Their entire discography is one overall story that'll only get bigger, and it's so easy to get invested in the story (from the very beginning, of course).
Congratulations, Ryan! You have finally embraced your inner METALHEAD🤘! The "this is cool, but when does it get heavy" threshold has, now, truly been crossed by you, sir. Welcome!
I agree, George. It's a sign of maturity that they are able to pull off such a melodic and haunting slow song. The lyrics are captivating. Also try some of their excellent slow songs like Snuff(Live or album), Dead Memories, and Vermillion part 1
You may call it more mature but to me it's just unsatisfying. If you like the old stuff better than you just like the old stuff better. And it sounds a million times better to me.
Love this song. I'm with George a bit here. Back in the day I loved the aggression of Slipknot, but as I grew older and less angry, I found them pretty hard to relate to most of the time. So I really like this tune as it seems to align more with where I'm at in life. But I get where Ryan's at with it too...I think it's just not what we've come to EXPECT from Slipknot so, yes, it does feel like an intro that's eventually going to kick into a big, heavy, aggressive explosion. Then somewhere along you go, "Huh? This is Slipknot?" It's not bad at all. Like I said, these days I find this type of stuff from them much more palatable...its just not what I EXPECT. From them. 😅👍🤘❤
I think you guys would appreciate the band Mushroomhead a lot. Almost the same amount of band members ...different approach to big band heavy metal !!! Songs I'd like to see a reaction to --->> "Save Us" , "BWOMP" ,"Qwerty", "Sun doesn't rise"..... too many to list
This is a killer song! They do have more melodic songs in their catalog and you guys should definitely check out Snuff, Circle and Vermilion part 2, all some of their more melodic songs. I also agree with your breakdown of the lyrics, it feels like it's a song about you feel like you've done something wrong and you try to fix it but it's too late.
I mean...surfacing, wait and bleed, eyeless...when these guys hit the scene in the 90s they fking exploded onto it...hearing where they've gone so many years later is definitely a trip. But I mean...u want to get amped up...surfacing is the jam.
I’m very intrigued with the Slipknot journey thus far. I’m very curious what offerings from Slipknot at this point would really illicit a super positive response! Like this song and glad you guys were messin with it!
Fellas appreciate the fact that you have such a broad spectrum of music. Gotta appreciate that. Always respect your breakdowns. Gotta throw a request in. With your detail please check “A most dreadful symphony” by Ransom. Absolute flames!!!
I've only had a passing interest in what Slipknot has put out over the past 20 years (20 years? really?) but the intricacy and almost genre-less aspect of this song intrigues me. I always felt that with all the ingredients that the band has worked with over the years that they had the potential to do more with them than they have, and maybe they actually will. And it definitely sounds more mature to me too. All these guys are in their late 40s after all, so no one should be hoping for an 'Iowa vol. 2' at this point.
I’m curious how you guys would like Melechesh. They are brutal with good groove. Multiple truths or the epigenesis Take a chance, I don’t think I’ve seen their name thrown out there
The word your looking for is expectation with certain bands .. They are a very creative band and the heavy you describe is not for everyone because they are Nu Metal in a very categorized music world .. Fan based because they are well expressed...
This is actually the sound of almost 25% of their catalog. The music video to this song is actually the 2nd part of another music video, "Yen" that just dropped from their most recent album. If this is the sound you're looking for, check out "Yen"!!
You guys need to get into some 90's Era skate punk. Some examples I would say, the Offspring, NOFX, Lagwagon, Face to Face, Less Than Jake, Dropkick Murphys, Pulley to name a few. Anything from Tony Hawk's pro Skater games lol. it was a fun time in music
Great reaction, guys! Please check out "No Place for Disgrace" by the band Flotsam and Jetsam! It's the title track from their 2nd album released in 1988, and it's about Japanese Samurai warriors. Jason Newsted formed this band before joining Metallica in 1986 after Cliff Burton (bassist) died in a bus accident. Flotsam and Jetsam are still going strong. They released their 14th album in June of 2021. Thanks!
Getting a serious Black Sabbath vibe initially. Not sure if that's the intent but it's what I hear. Hoping there's a breakdown somewhere but it's not horrible.
1] SAVATAGE-Hall of the Mountain King 2] King Diamond-Black Horsemen 3] King Diamond-VICTIMIZED 4] King Diamond-THE TREES HAVE EYES 👀 5] Ozzy- Over the Mountain
Hey guys I am a new sub, you guys are awesome. If you really want an eye opener listen to Volbeat, Doc Holiday. The lead singer lists his influences as Johnny Cash, Elvis, Kreator( thrash metal) and King Diamond. Its country meets metal. very unique sound that works so well!!
YEAH THIS SONG IS ALRIGHT... BUT YALL WILL JUST NEVER UNDERSTAND THE IMPACT A BAND LIKE SLIPKNOT HAD ON YOUNG TEENAGERS LIKE MYSELF BACK IN 1999. BACK WHEN MANY OF US WERE BARELY GETTING INTO ROCK AND METAL AND ONLY LISTENED TO RADIO ROCK AND ALTERNATIVE, THEN HEARING "Wait and Bleed' FOR THE FIRST TIME AND WATCHING THE VIDEO OF A BUNCH OF CRAZY, SCARY MASKED DUDES JUMPING AROUND STAGE. ALL THAT NU METAL THAT CAME OUT IN 99 AND EARLY 2000s WAS JUST EPIC. I GET IT, SLIPKNOT HAS MATURED, YOU CANT HAVE THE SAME ANGER AND ANGST AFTER SO MUCH SUCCESS AND THEIR LAST FEW ALBUMS SHOW IT. AND HONESTLY THEY'RE HIT OR MISS FOR ME. IF YOU GUYS WANT THAT SLOW START AND BUILD UP TO HEAVY CHECK OUT THE SONGS, "Vermilion pt1" "Goodbye" "Snuff" and "Solway Firth" BUT THE ESENCE OF SLIPKNOT IS IN THEIR FIRST 2 ALBUMS.
been subscribed for a while now and I have not ever seen you do Lovebites from Japan a all women group that plays their own instruments and sings in English and will just melt your face with their music new album just came out and it just impresses please give it a try
Comn! do SPIT IT OUT or WAiT AND BLEED , I cant understand how you manage to evade those two songs like youve done. My guess is sick crossovers and no look passes :'D
here’s a good metal recommendation; 200 stab wounds. they’re one of the best bands in the scene right now with riffs so groovy you’ll forget how to behave
Please react to the legendary band, The Band. The most talented rock n roll, country rock, blues rock, rock-a-billy band of all time. This is evidenced by the fact that they had great influence on their contemporaries like Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, The Beatles and many more. Further evidenced by the fact that Martin Scorsese made a movie of their "last" concert. True legends and an important part of American music. I promise you will be happy that you listened to The Band.
You guys haven't done anything from the first two albums. Those are their heaviest and most raw albums. Recomended songs are Disasterpiece, Eyeless, (Sic), and The heretic anthem
Who’s pick your Slipknot songs? They’re picking some rough ones. Wait and bleed, before I forget, solaway firth, devil in I, spit it out, Custer, those are all the songs that give you a better feel of Slipknot as a band. All the new songs are what Slipknot has become, it’s not a good look at they fully have to offer.
I’ve been a fan of y’all for years now. You guys always listen with an open mind, regardless the genre. With all that said, the fact that you haven’t visited Jelly Roll is a travesty. The dude is super talented with movie quality music videos. Fall in the fall shows a ton of range the song She hits really close to home. Check him out.
Hate to say it, but basically, yeah. They still have a few great tracks on every album, but most just feel like filler to me But they're getting older, they're mostly less angry, less substance abuse; hell, half of the members aren't even in the band anymore. No surprise their music is suffering. Just the way it goes
