A lot of people really like that one. I like the album, but to me, it's more of a hard rock album. But, hey. We both like the band. You can prefer whatever you'd like. :)

I'd say AHIG and Iowa are also their most progressive, at least as Nu-Metal goes. Disturbed has a lot of odd-time signatures.

I see AHIG as Slipknot's "...And Justice For All". It was like they said "let's make some heavy technical shit and not let up" for that album.

As a slipknot fan I can say they have pretty simplistic riffs

Scarlet Sabbath Some of the greatest riffs of all time are much much simpler. Nothing wrong with simplicity, as long as it hits the right groove.

On bass it is. Paul never actually learned how to play bass. So his music always sounded great but was very simple at the same time.

Buried Alive Lol I have never once heard a real metal head call Slipknot Death Metal or Black Metal. Even Slipknot fans dont use those terms because nothing could be more different than Nu and Black. But maybe Nu is the new black lol... Also, Slipknot is classified as Alt Metal under many streaming sites now. Beats me. I discovered AHIG only recently; but I think it's a really good album. Some of the songs are better to me than some of those on the earlier realises.

its not that it's hated, it's just that out of all their work, it's the worst, coreys voice was still in it's repair stage from Iowa, everyone hated each other at the time and could never record together because of the relationships they all had at the time due to addiction, all of which made it extremely difficult for the music to be as good as it could've been

Same reason Iowa is regarded as the best Slipknot album.
