I noped out of fixing that myself once he said roll pin. Screw roll pins. Not touching those again. Terrible experience trying to replace CV axles in my 2002 legacy. Roll pins are a nightmare.

They sure are. I did get a fresh roll pin when I did mine. Couldn't make it fit for love or money. Ended up using the old one again.

Roll pin inside of a roll pin. Gotta love it

My 06 is just 2 bolts no roll pin to worrie about , the linkage in the video is also 2 bolts

I prefer the kartboy aftermarket bushings. Much tighter and I believe the polyurethane will last longer.

I got the torq solutions roller ball bearings one , i dont gotta worry about the rubber and its nice and tight , plus still cheaper than the oem replacement

I got the torq solutions roller ball bearing replacement joint no rubber to wear out and nice and stiff too also the same price or cheaper than oem , my shifter has almost no play and the little play it does have is from the transmission

Great memories of changing this on my 03 wrx, trying to get that roll pin out is a nightmare while it’s still in chassis

I had that issue but even more vague. Wasn't the U-joint, it was the bracket at the other end of the linkage had snapped off. Buddy at the shop forgot to put 2/3 bolts of it back on, and the stress killed it. 30 bucks later and it was good as new

Just a roll pin 😂 When I did this on my 04 wrx, I had the worst time getting BOTH roll pins out. Never really got the new ones put in correctly but I've been driving around for 5 years so not too bad

The 06 + ones are 2 bolts no roll pin , the one in the video is 2 bolts also

I used a $20 punch set to get them out, socket, socket extension and hammer to get them back in. 😂 It's easy when you have the right tools for the job.

You can just buy replacement bushing from a company like Turn In Concepts for about $30

Can't you just make your own bushings on drill press with a hard durable plastic? Cheaper and will last longer than rubber if it works. I haven't worked on them therefore I haven't seen them up close so I'm curious.

That's even worse slop than my 94 vw before I fixed it. Chunk of nylon/delrinn sourced from a worn out piece from a combine harvester was the perfect shape after 15min of shaping. Should outlast the car and honestly no more vibration than before the fix

Already fixed that and all the bushings that are rubber and it’s still sloppy

I think this was one of the first things I saw from your channel years ago. I did do this on my 00 outback, but it didn't help very much. I think the gearbox is just worn out.

Lol, $60, I could have one made from billet with needle bearings fot that kind of money 😂. Or get a cheaper one. Also why not replace the rubber? Seems a waste
