When I was a kid sometimes the lights on the Tyco chassis would burn out. I'd replace them with a bulb from one of the mini Christmas light sets. Worked well, plus a variety of colors, too. Good memories. Damn, that was a long time ago.

Great information! I knew those bulbs got hot but didn't realize how hot! I'm amazed they pass any type of safety test for not catching fire! Lol 😆 You are going to love those Viper chassis. Now you know why I ditched the Xcraption chassis and put them in my Mustang IROC class. Like you mentioned now you get the best of both worlds! The looks AND the speed/handling! Win Win 🏆 in my book 😉 Harden Creek Slot Cars sells a lower body clip for the Viper chassis that helps lower the center of gravity and handling. Terry also partners with Dan at Viper and is a wealth of knowledge about these chassis. I highly recommend calling him and picking his brain for any Viper chassis upgrades/mods for your type of track. Honest guy only offers what he thinks will work not cost the most to get a sale. 😉👍 can't wait for the video of you and Enzo racing these chassis! 😁👍🏁

Yea it should be fun. We're going to have some construction going on around the house and basement. I plan on having a lot of body painting videos and new races teams being added in the next few weeks. We should still be able to do the live streams at night though.

Viper chassis's are so far beyond Autoworld, its not even the same thing. I'm new to HO racing but I started with Viper Vspec, JAG 227 and PR5 chassis cars, and only have 2 AW Protinker limited editions just for fun. Interesting video!

The Super IIIs are as close as AW gets to the Vipers but the quality and performance of a Viper over the Super III is as Drift says, on a completely different level.

Vipers are super fast. I’ve been buying the parts and building my own. Note that you can advance the timing . Dan at VSR has a good video on timing adjustment.

If you are going to light a car, you are better off with LEDs. The old "wheat" bulbs rob a lot of current from the cars and they aren't as bright as the LEDs. Also, LEDs consume a constant current (approx. 20mA) regardless of how far you pull the trigger and are far cooler.

Yes, this is all correct and why I recommend using the LED over the incandescent bulbs, unless it is for a shelf queen restore.

I’ve bought quite a few Autoworld cars and they’re ok but my personal favorite it’s the M chassis since that’s what I grew up with in the late 90s

I put together a proxy DR-1 Top Fuel and Funny Car heads up drag racing event and one of the cars cruised my 16 foot dragstrip in under .6 (6 tenths) of a second. One of the fastest cars I have seen. I am sold on these cars now. Inexpensive and quick. Thank you for the cool video.

Viper and BSRT G3 are both upgraded versions of the Tomy Super G+. Not really much like Mega G. Mega G and stock SG+ are close to equal performance. However it is really easy to upgrade a stock SG+ to beat a stock Mega G every time. Usually better rear wheels and tires is all it takes. Mega G has great possibilities but SG+ is still a better choice for almost everyone. Viper and G3 bare chassis' are available if you want to build your own or replace broken SG+ chassis' and the ready to run versions are a great value. The new Mega G+ is a whole different animal and most people are going to regret buying one unless they just want a stock race set to play with. Viper, G3 and SG+ are definitely the go to chassis' for speed and running hard bodies. Even if you want to run much slower, with Viper and G3 you can run without traction magnets with weights in their place and at lower voltage, drifting around curves. Ready to run cars set up like that are available too. AW chassis' really are pathetic. If you like pancake motor style chassis' just get some original AFX or Magnatraction. Same bodies fit any of them and Aurora quality is far superior. AW lettered tires look cool though and those chassis' might be a good way to display bodies you don't run.

5:10 You could install a variable voltage regulator on a lane or two so your son can run x-trac or magnatraction. Like $10 on eBay. That's what I did!

I do have variable power on it 12 to 24v. The problem is the corners and banked turns. The xtraction chassis falls off the track, or simply dies going straight down the track. They are garbage chassis.

Getting a Viper Chassis is like getting a Lamborghini as your 1st car. I don't recommend starting out with one, but I purchased mine from brshobbies.com I had vintage Tyco track from the 80s, and purchased more vintage Life Like and Marchon track and cars off of Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace. Then made my own track layouts using connector pieces to use the different brands with each other. I recommend picking 1 Brand and sticking with it, I went extreme because of the channel and needing to make content. The 3rd option is to purchase a pre-routed track from a hobby dealer, which I know nothing about Good luck, and welcome to the hobby. A quick shout out to the timing system DIYers. If you have, or can get hold of, a computer with a working parallel port, making a great timing system is so cheap that you wouldn't believe it and it's not difficult. There are numerous free timing software applications out there that have all the features anyone could want.

Steve, I picked up the Auto World Victory 400 set a month ago. I have 4 grandkids who don't know how to share so this 4 lane track will allow them to play @ the same time. I have noticed that the x-traction cars that come with the set do drift & wipe out quite a bit. I bought a couple of AW Super iii cars & they stay on track much better. I then bought a couple of AFX Mega G plus & they stick just as good as the Super iii but the cars go much faster. Do you think if I order some Viper chassis they will run ok on my AW track? thx Felix

Yes, they will run on the track. Once you run the viper chassis you will not want to bother with the AW stuff. The Super iii and mega G plus are great cars though. The XTraction are garbage. Stay away from 4 gear chassis as well

@@StockpileHobbies I recommend one from Harden Creek and Slotcarcentral. They set them up with different traction magnets and I possibly gear ratios. The gears are a different style. I also recommend one from BRS Hobbies. They have them with brass weight instead of traction magnets and rubber tires. I have a both style magnet ones and just ordered the brass ones. I can’t wait to see how it performs.

I like the new bodies of the Auto World Cars. Especially the retro Models. But I don't like their Chassis, there junk ! Poor quality and fitment. When I set up my 1/64 H.O Set. I usually run Vintage Afx 440 Cars, I like those. I also have a Carrera 1:24/ 1:32 Digital Set. New in the Box, but haven't set it up yet.

Hey, the track is made up of tyco and marchon track pieces that I bought off of craigslist and mish mashed together. I made my own track adapters and ran power taps. I have videos showing how to do all of this. You can google for "slot car dyno", there are 1 or 2 places making them. The specific one I have pops up on ebay every so often, and is made by a private seller, Bobzslotz, email him on ebay: www.ebay.com/sch/bobzslotz/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= Auto World released a lot of movie/tv cars, this is where the General Lee I have came from. These bodies fit Xtraction/Flamethrower/AFX pancake style chassis. The Mega G chassis will only work with mega g bodies.
