Well done. Used to play this at Thornbury High St AU with a group of people that came from Melbourne all over and we had good fun on the big track. Great to see that it hasn't died. Once again, well done.

Thanks for the vids, great info. I recently got into flexi cars and your insights and visuals have been very helpful, as well as your body mounting jig which makes it so easy.

Bugger about the braid. We lost a LeMans enduro with a broken lead wire. What sort of amps do these motors pull under load? 20A? 30A? Did you say you ran 39/5 gears? Will a 47/6 fit? Or is the 47T spur diameter bigger than the tyre diameter? You would get a better mesh and torque delivery to the wheels would be better. Torque delivery is not constant!! Its a sawtooth delivery about an 39/5 = 7.8 average. The 47/6 torque delivery would be smoother and less power losses. Unless the larger 47T diameter has too much inertia loss? Keep up the good work James. Always great content.

Yes. I ran 39/5 gears. We always used to run 45/6 gear ratio but with 39/5 gears you get extra acceleration and braking effect, combined with the higher revs of the motor which also gives you more gyroscopic effect, you can lap faster. A 47 tooth gear, even in 80 pitch, would be too large for the rear tyres. We tend to run rear tyres around 16.6mm maximum in this class.

@@CleaveTech 45/6 = 7.5 as opposed to 39/5 = 7.8, so more revs and better acc/brakes makes sense.

It definitely is fun 😁 Where do you live? There might be a track near you.

What is the acceleration and maximum speed on these vehicles?

This particular class of slot car probably reaches around 50mph on the straights, but it is the overall cornering and handling ability of the slot car that is so impressive. There are no magnets keeping the slot car on the track. It is all about aerodynamics, chassis dynamics and mechanical grip. Wing Slot Cars will AVERAGE around 80mph on a qualifying lap and there are drag slot cars that will actually exceed that speed by the end of the scale 1/4mile.

What do you measure the rpm with and what rpm does it pull at 12.5v? Curious as an 1106/8000kv brushless motor at 5v is only pulling 40,000 rpm😉

I measure the RPM with my own RPM device. I will be selling the new version soon 😉. I would not test a C-can or Strap motor at 12.5V as the windings would explode without a load applied.
