The Pseudorandom Number Generator (RNG) is at the heart of what makes slot machines tick. In this video, we dive into its workings and dispel the many myths and misconceptions surrounding it.
This is the fourth episode of "Everything About Slot Machines," where we unravel the mysteries of the RNG, explaining the difference between true randomness and pseudorandomness. We'll explore how modern slot machines use sophisticated algorithms to ensure fair play and why the outcome of each spin is truly unpredictable.

@@VegasEducation i will talk to you later about the video where you show us the graphs about what a machine does over a very long period of time, in the meantime, i quit, i will never go again after yet another totally harrowing weekend. i AM the biggest gambling loser on the planet, i do not have any competition. i can bankrupt any casino i go to by just starting a gambling channel. because simply, would you go to said casino if you see someone proving on video they walk out of said casino with ZERO MONEY EVERY SINGLE TIME? unless you are the biggest idiot on the planet of course. The statement you gonna loose if you chase a win is proven a blatent lie by EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER SAT NEXT TO ME EVERY SINGLE TIME, because they win huge for their bets by staying on said machine. if i compare my money in in 12 years to my money out i walked out with under 2% of that, while i 've seen people win an uncountable number of jackpots next to me over those 12 years walking out with an estimated total of around 3,5 MILLION in wins over those 12 years on the very same machines i play. thye prove that staying on a machine will let you win EVERY SINGLE TIME when they sit next to me or come straight after me. according to your video with those two graphs this in IMPOSSIBLE and yet it happens for real. EVERYONE who is a higher bets than the minimum next to me has gotten insane bonusses and win EVERY SINLGE TIME EVERY ONE who bets higher ( anywhere from 5 bucks up to 25 bucks ) has filled out the entire board with jackpots EVERY SINGLE TIME i'm there. we only have low limit machines. jackpots have dropped on every machine i played next to me on ANY bet from the lowest up to max bet, and they drop EVERY SINGLE TIME i'm there... defying everything you and gambling smart say about gambling on your channel. and yet there is NO ONE here on youtube with gambling videos who has not gotten any jackpots.... which would be normal over a very long period of time. what did i get... NOTHING EVER.....

This is one of the best videos I've seen on the slot machine RNG. On a side note, if you still need to cover it, I'd like to know how one can find out if they are playing a class 2 vs. a class 3 slot or video poker machine. I know that any casino in NYS run by the state uses class 2 machines. Can't tell the difference on the slot machines, but on video poker, basically if you are meant to lose you lose and if you are meant to win, it doesn't matter if you hold some cards or throw away all of them, you're still getting that winning hand one way or another. However, since you mentioned in another video something like, "If you are wondering if you're playing class 2 or 3, just ask an attendant. But is there a way to tell by something on the machine so I don't have to ask?

Thanks! If they are bingo based, there should be mentions of the bingo game in the game rules. In New York, i believe they use pull tab machines. I have a little knowledge of how they function on the back end, but I've never seen a machine in person and dont know too much about them. Id assume there would be something in the game rules about it, though

One Episode I would like to see is How slot manufacturers mitigate risk for prizes. For example is the ratio of a $1000 prize 1:30 vs a $1,000,000 prize 1:50,000 to mitigate the risk. What is the math behind it?
@VegasEducation
@VegasEducation 2 месяца назад
There really isn't a way to mitigate it specifically. The mitigation is through the law of large numbers, and the machines will eventually converge to their RTP. For example, the flamingo casino nearly went under when the casino had a stroke of bad luck, and the players were winning too much. I suppose the mitigation is to have enough cash reserves to cover any potential losses. This does get into a pretty interesting topic of "risk of ruin" for advantaged players. Think about an advantaged blackjack player. If they have $xxxx.xx. and they are betting $xx per hand. What are the odds that they go broke before they end up turning a profit?

@@VegasEducation My question is lets say you have a slot machine with one prize $1000 and a $1 a spin. What odds does the casino set to make the game both fun and profitable? What is the math behind game prize design?
@VegasEducation
@VegasEducation 2 месяца назад
@marksmith4512 ahh, i see. There's quite a bit that goes into that. Its a lot of game design math. Theres going to be a couple videos that talk about that concept. Essentially, the more likely the prize is to come up, the less pay would be left to dedicate to the smaller wins. This is essentially dictates the volatility of the game. If game designer makes the game too volatile, the player will get bored because they rarely win. If the game isn't volatile enough, the player will wont like it because they never win the big prizes. This math is what the manufacturers consider their secret sauce and why they protect their par sheets. They dont want their competitors getting their hands on the latest and greatest math. Customers think the companies are secretive because they are doing something nefarious or itd give the players an edge, but its really about protecting their IP

Hi mate, im from The UK and slots have found their way into the pubs. The older generation think that if someone has pumped in a load of cash its due to pay out. This isnt true, right? Its all completely random? Thanks in advance if you answer this. Really enjoying your videos and have subscribed
@VegasEducation

Ya. That's a total wives tale. It's no more true than pumping money into roulette will make the ball land on a certain number. Past events do not have any bearing on future outcomes

Im in contact with quite a few game designers. People who actually write the code. This type of RNG is referred to as a "linear congruential generator" if you want to read more about it. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linear_congruential_generator
