Hey folks, in this film i'll be making an incredibly tasty dish in my slow cooker, a barbecue bacon and bean booyah! A booyah is an American type stew with lots of meat and vegetables, typically cooked in the open and often with a barbecue flavour.
The key ingredients in my booyah are as follows:
12 rashers smoked bacon.
Chorizo sausage.
1 large red onion.
6 white mushrooms.
1 red capsicum pepper.
1 green capsicum pepper.
50g pearl barley.
50g split peas.
100g carlins.
100g rosecoco beans.
100g black eye beans.
Honey.
Worcestershire Sauce.
Ginger paste.
English mustard.
Chilli flakes.
Paprika.
Tomato pureé.
Olive oil.
Water.
The recipe is as follows:
1. Soak the beans and carlins overnight in water.
2. Cut the red onion into small pieces and add into the slow cooker dish.
3. Cut the bacon into small pieces and layer on top of the onion.
4. Quarter the mushrooms and layer them on top of the bacon.
5. Cut the peppers into chunks and layer on top of the mushrooms.
6. Cut the chorizo sausage into small pieces and layer on top.
7. Sprinkle the pearl barley and split peas on top and then but the slow cooker on high for 120 minutes.
8. Sieve the beans and carlins that have been soaking overnight, put them in a saucepan, cover with water and put the ring on so that they come to a simmer.
9. To make the barbecue sauce, add the following ingredients into a pyrex jug: 1 teaspoon chilli flakes, 1 heaped teaspoon of English mustard, 1 teaspoon of paprika, 5 squirts of tomato purée, 10 dashes of Worcester sauce, 11 squirts of honey, 2 blobs of ginger paste. Mix together and fill up to 200ml mark with boiling water, then add into the slow cooker.
10. Once the beans and carlins have come to a simmer, turn off the heat and leave to soak then add to the slow cooker.
11. Add some water on top so that everything is just about covered.
12. Leave the slow cooker on high for another hour and then stir and lift what is in the slow cooker.
13. Put the slow cooker on medium for 1 hour, then turn down to low and cook it for a further 7 hours.
Serve and enjoy! I had mine with boiled potatoes and it was absolutely beautiful, it had a lovely barbecue flavour and was quite smoky, sweet and spicy in flavour. Hope you enjoy the film folks, cheers!

I've just made your barbecue bacon and bean booyah...... I had it in the slow cooker over night and waking up to that smokey bbq smell..wow...I will definitely be making it again ...cheers stu nice one 👍🏻
