The small one is so versatile, I have caught, flathead, salmon, tailor, and 2 different freshwater species (in the USA). It's one of my go to land based lures because you can cast it a mile, I have a few different sizes of it now.
bro the slow jig, tie to the split ring attached through the lure body to the hooks. This gives the lure body the action its designed for through the water-column. Give that a crack next time you're out
I reckon tying on to that middle split ring will make you more likely to lose that lure if the flathead gets it right in his mouth. Great vid mate. Subbed from Sydney : )
Thanks! I normally run a 3-5kg rod, 10lb braid, and 10-15lb leader, 2500 size reel. That setup will work for everything from Redfin and trout, all they way up to small gummie sharks.
What I’ve heard of those marti lure you, they’re more used for bigger fish like snapper salmon and king fish they use them in NZ mainly used there because of those fish and water is really deep over there
They call them “yank” or “blue spot” flathead around here, I think I caught the same type in tassie a few years ago. They aren’t the duskys, which are the big ones you get as you tare travel up the east coast.
Lucas Cordedda it really depends on the situation, for flathead I mostly drift. If you know where the fish are, I would anchor and cast into/at them. If I’m trying to find the fish I will drift. I drift about 80% of the time.
