For those that get a high-end Japanese slowpitch jigging rod, please remember the rod is for catching the fish not fighting. You will snap it real fast, lol. A lot of the slowpitch jigging fighting you see on RU-vid are with hybrid rods, not true slowpitch jigging rods.
@bringit3164 can you tell me what a good rod and spinning reel for a beginner that in the 300 range. I believe I have a bottom heavy setup with the Shimano Master 25. However, I'm not sure about the rod. The other thing is what is a fast action rod for?
@cristinearias6613 I started out slowpitch jigging with a Shimano Ocea Jigger, which is the standard. I paired that with a Seafloor Control Jam rod force 3. Once I found out, I loved slowpitch pitch jigging. I upgraded my reel to SOM. Deepliner logical rods are awesome, and I use them too.
@cristinearias6613 Slowpitch rods come in numbers ranging from 0, 1, 2, 3, etc. Each number is a jig range limit. Example Deepliner logical prime #4 is for jig weight 130-300g. Fast action rod refers to the tip action, and you won't see any of that stuff on a true slowpitch jigging rod.
@bringit3164 Yah, I really don't want a slow pitch Rod. I'm looking for a good all-around rod for top fishing that I can troll with a decent cast and fight. (PHENIX)? WHAT REEL? I have one specific for bottom, and I'm looking for a setup that I can toss into a kelp bed or a feeding.
For slow pitch jigging you wouldn't use a fast action rod. Fast action rods can be great for vertical jigging. They also can be great for speed jigging, using bucktails, and twitch baits. It really also depends what you're fishing for.
