Chris and Johnny drove up to Fort Pierce to meet up with the fellas from Southern Fortune Fishing Tournaments. Conditions where perfect for a long ride offshore. We get into slow pitch jigging technique for grouper and red snapper. It was an awesome action packed day with may different species from American Red Snapper, Pink Porgy, Scamp Grouper, and Red Grouper. We are fully aware that we have two days of red snapper fishing on the horizon and hope this video helps. Also we talk about the year long tournament that these guys are kicking off August first.

I was wondering if I can use a Shimano 300 E baitcast reel with a power handle with a similar rod that your using for that kind of fishing. Do you think it's a set up that can handle those types of fish?

35h spj is more silky than ocea jigger , so much drag. 35H IS WAy to go than ocea 2000,4000

I was catching up on your videos last night. Someone was using a Diawa Saltiga rod. I went to the Diawa site to look the specs. I had no idea of the selection. What is a recommendation for deep drop jigging on a long range head boat. Long 7' or short. lighter or heavier action? Pretty sure I'll need some of the big boy jigs also. I am trying this jigging here in the Midwest. who knows? Don't be afraid to sprinkle the technical stuff in the videos along with the valuable tips Thanks David

Hey David, we love the technical stuff. Deep dropping wise...talking Daiwa...the Saltiga x-heavy would work great. It has a hefty price tag but is a very nice true Japanese SPJ rod. Our power 4 JohnnyJigs ProJigger also is a great option. The last one that I really like is the Ocean Legacy Elementus Deep. " most bang for the Buck" it has a great action and is true to its ratings.

I saw something about fish and UV light. Never thought about the light spectrum and how fish see it. So you guys have any jigs that reflect UV light? But it would answer questions about how a fish finds stuff at depth at night

What do you set your drag to on the 35jh? Do you increase it pre trip when you know you’re going to be getting into some big grouper and ars? I have mine set to 14# at strike with the same # braid and flouro leader as you.

I set it between 8 and 10 pounds at strike. The 35jh can be adjusted on the fly. It is an amazing reel.

Scamp only have to be 16 inches

Offshoretherapy2035 In the Gulf, the Regulation for scamp is 16".We generally will announce our location in the video or write it in the description. We were fishing out of Fort Pierce on the Atlantic side where the Regulation for scamp is 20". The last thing we want to do is publish wrong information, and we are grateful when our viewers educate us. So thank you. Keeping up with regulations all over the USA is almost impossible, so we use an app called Fish Rules. This app is incredible, and I highly recommend checking it out. Jig On Johnny
