Friday afternoon meant an end to the work week and a chance to catch an eastbound mixed freight through London. Martin and I made it down to the tracks well ahead of the train, only to see a CP pickup truck parked to the west of the crossing. That meant a crew change.
Sure enough, CP 140 rolled to a stop well clear of the crossing to let the fresh crew relieve the old one that was running out of hours. The result was a very slow roll of 171 cars as the train entered the Galt Sub to the east of us. Even though my arms were getting tired by the end, it was great to be able to see the freight pass by so slowly. Great for the two of us, probably not so great for the drivers waiting at the crossing at the end of their working day.
