Continuing with my slow stitch box for Roxy’s Journal of Stitchery for the month of May. #Roxysjournalofstitchery
Thanks to Sarah ‪@roxycreationsbysarah‬ and Rachel ‪@roxycreations679‬ for hosting this project for us all to enjoy.
The walls of my slow stitch house shaped box are made from hexagons and in this video I show how I am stitching the walls together as well as a very easy method for creating a clamshell roof that looks like roof shingles using a modified English paper piecing method and Eppiflex reuseable templates. An easy beginner friendly project.
Here’s a link to the previous videos for this project:

Your box is looking fabulous Christine, your cardboard must be quite thick as the finished walls look thick. Love the clam shells walls. I’ve never made clam shells before..

Thanks Kaylee - I wrapped my cardboard (just from old boxes/packaging) with felt and then the inner fabric is stitched onto another piece of felt. So gives it a lovely softness but also some strength. Cheers, Christine

It’s looking really great - I would go symmetrical - the windows look like the light is on inside and shining out 🌼

I really Love your choice of fabrics for the box! To answer your questions I liked the door arched but wondered if it might look better a little larger( maybe add a frame around it?) I love the windows and the flowers i think would look best tea dyed. I think ou will make the right choices based on what feels right to you when you look at it. I've never seen you produce something that wasn't gorgeous and i know you'll make this the same. Happy stitching my friend!

Christine its looking fabulous. I love windows being symetrical so im a bit biased on that one lol. Just a Suggestion.... ....maybe a lighter fabric behind the windows so they are a little bigger??? Love the door and i can see a beautiful key stitched somewhere beside it. We love our keys my dear friend. I bought some beautiful crafting keys from Temu in assorted sizes and theyre absolutely beautiful. Whatever you decide i think its going to look gorgeous. Really love the roof!!!! ❤ (Theyre the shapes i was going to do my dragon (scales) with. Haha. Now i will use your method. Just a thought .....i wonder when attaching the bottom clamshels you could fold them under the felt so you dont see the felt? Just to let you know I have more fantastic news (apart from my news about being a first time Nana with baby girl being born around my birthday to come in November coming ❤❤) .......MY FERGUS IS BACK!!!!! Omg! Got a phone call today just at the end of a doctor's appt (crocheting baby blanket while waiting hahaha) that they had found my Cat, Fergus!!! Oh my Joy!!!! So after 6 months of being gone, thought to be missing forever, my boy Fergus McFuzzy is Home!!!! With his mum. The cat came back! Lolol. ❤❤❤❤❤

Oh Melinda I am jumping up and dine with excitement about the homecoming of your beloved Fergus! And a nana to be too - just so much joy to wrap around you. Enjoy every moment and give an extra big cuddle to Fergus. And thank you so much for all your suggestions - if only I could have you in my craft room to consult while I’m creating, but this is indeed the next best thing. Thank you my friend and you deserve every moment of joy. Cheers, Christine xxx

Love the door but it could have a trim around the door, like the traditional door, window placement with the 2 flowers on either side, you could embellish the flowers with colour with some dmc.

The door and windows look great. I really like the window colour. You are fortunate to have a craft/home office room. I work in a corner of the living room so have to put everything away after each crafting session.

You’re very right - I hope one day you can have your own little space where you can leave your creations in heir evolving state. Mind you, I would probably have less need for my big sort outs if I packed up each evening after crafting. Cheers, Christine

William Blake said it best: 'Tyger Tyger, burning bright, In the forests of the night; What immortal hand or eye, Could frame thy fearful symmetry?' Symmetry, all the way.

I prefer the arched door; placed in the center. I love the golden windows. I would prefer the door larger and the windows down lower….. or have double stacked windows, even if they don’t show completely under the roof.

Thank you Christine for your video and company. I would put a frame round the door an possibly Windows just in stitch. You could also cross stitch down your join between the walls on its outside, it would look like part of the brickwork. Definitely tea dye the flowers I think white will be a bit strong. Hope I commented on your questions. This cottage is looking gorgeous and these templates are amazing, so much more versatile than paper and less wasteful.

My daughter was the Queen of the Last Moment. She was homeschooled until she was about 14 and then went into a charter school. The school was big on presentations and she never prepared in advance. She would pull the whole thing together on the bus ride to school, which was 15 minutes at the most. That included a PowerPoint presentation with all the notes and references annotated. She never got anything less than an A and ended up being the valedictorian at graduation. I figured she was a changeling switched at birth cuz I can't see anything I created as being that smart.
