Well you had me at the Slow Stitch versus Embroidery comment…I almost couldn’t stop laughing long enough to watch the rest. I’m over 60 now and it’s amazing all the “new” RU-vid trends. Great demo…I use to cross-stitch in the 80s but I just did a precious embroidery kit and learned a new stitch …I’ve been making custom journals and love the thought of having these for some of the pages. I too am a lover of our Lord Jesus…Have a blessed day🥰

Cynthia, thanks for taking time to watch and to comment! I spent a lot of money on thread and canvas and books for counted cross stitch back in the 80s. This is more fun!!! I am so glad you stopped by. Thanks for sharing about Jesus!

I am enjoying your tutorial. I love to sew & I really love to see anything with embroidery. Learning to embroider would be one more thing I could do. Thanks for teaching & patience. Very pretty creations.

I differentiate embroidery from slow stitch. My grandmother and those of generations before her did fine embroidery. That world still exists. I think of slow stitch as an offshoot of fabric collage and the crazy quilt genre.

Absolutely!!! You are right. It is more casual and relaxing!

I think I have been slow stitching all my life. I am a quilter and do everything by hand so it takes quite awhile to finish a quilt . Greetings from New Zealand.

Hey, Mary, from New Zealand! Hand stitching is such a "labor" of love! Not really labor. Back in 1970, I stitched an evening gown for my mom, entirely by hand. I found that dress about 6 months ago. It's on my tiktok page. nathkelley. We create treasures, don't we?

I considered slo stitch as just slow down and do hand stitches, no right or wrong, not perfection, yes the kind you can sit and watch TV to do. Especially the whatcha call it, just crazy stitches. Then embellishing with french knots, learning colonial and bullion, doing blanket stitch on edge of pieces or the whole piece and maybe some lazy daisy but not full on embroidery. But yes lately in Collab watching tons of videos learning stem stitches and how to do flowers. Watching more videos trying to figure out how many strands to use that's my biggest obstacle. I was using crochet thread of all sizes in slow stitch but embroidery thread keeps me stumped. I have it, I have some beautiful shiny threads, but I'm stumped. I watched one lady, gosh beautiful work but she uses 6 strands doubled, well no wonder it's beautiful laying down 12 strands at a time in that really loose fabric. So thankyou for telling us how many you are using. I'll bring watch your videos.

You cracked me up! All my stitching (and knitting) is slow. I'm 68 and have been embroidering off and on since childhood. I'm making a stitchery type book. It's supposed to be unplanned but I do plan it somewhat. I think it's going to have a fairy tale type direction.

Slow stitch is actually a philosophy using embroidery. Slow stitch refers to being aware and introspective while you are stitching. There is a book called "Slow Stitch" that talks about this philosophical.

Hi y’all! Yes, “slow stitching” is embroidery--except the distinction is in mindfulness, the purpose of intention, not stitching to “hurry up and get it done” but to use the practice as a meditation exercise. It has room for the moment, to change course or make mistakes without judgment.

Couldn’t you use one of your ‘pages’ to put onto jeans? I think it would make application on the jeans easier if you do all the patches together first then put it onto the jeans, purse, etc. Thoughts? Love your videos! Thank you.

Can anyone say embroidery? 🙂 Though I agree with what you said a little later - it's about being casual and not perfect. Enjoying the process as much as the outcome.
