My shag carpet in 1972 was burnt orange. My vacuum had a rake attachment on the front of it. 😂

My grandmother used to have a magnet on a string that she would run across the floor to pick up the pins. It worked great

I love all your videos lol. This is something that is very relaxing. Not worried about how big my stitches are or if something is not straight. Being a quilter it’s been very hard for me to do. Even with making journals and paper it’s hard not to have everything straight. 🤗🤗

We had harvest gold shag carpet where I grew up, and avocado green shag in the closets. My mom rarely dropped pins or needles but us kids did lose some lapel pins. Got in tons of trouble when my Dad found them with his bare feet.

I don't know if my opinion matters at all, I would tend to vote a resounding NO! -- but I love your sewing videos -- all of you ladies are so so talented and I think it's fabulous you are all doing this. I still drool over your fabric collection -- and all that thread for two bucks -- sigh ... I love Jeanette's channel -- she is so kind and so so talented -- it will be a treasured item with each of your works in the same project -- oh, I was fast running out of space on my phone, even after I installed a memory chip -- I do not have an I phone, I have like the microsoft one -- but I started saving things like videos and pix "to the cloud" and I also began attaching them and emailing them to myself in case the cloud crashed -- it has helped a lot -- I have almost zero to none tech skills, but I also began saving on my computer the pdfs of the digi kits I buy -- I love yours because you guys always go the extra mile and give both a pdf and the jpeg versions -- and so I have two places where I store them, on my harddrive and on the cloud -- which is technology from about 20 years ago -- me shaking my own head and rolling my own eyes at myself !!!

I, also, was taught to baste my work before stitching but we always used a bright, contrasting thread so we wouldn't forget to pull any of the basting threads. Seeing your example made me think I might try a journal cover like this. Thanks. 🇨🇦

What lovely work!! 🧵 I can relate to your Mum’s experience. My Mom made most of our clothes growing up. I was trying on a new outfit she had made me for school (10th grade). She had marked the hem and left her sewing needle in the pants to help mark the length. She told me to be careful taking it off. Well of course I lost the needle, not in carpet but on the bathroom tile floor. While trying to find it I actually stepped on in and it snapped in half. We looked and looked but could only find half of the needle. There wasn’t any real pain and very little blood. It was just like a pin prick. No big deal. Six months later we found the needle. Yes it was still in my foot. It went in on the ball of my foot behind the big toe then traveled all the way to my pinky toe. It was protruding out the side of my foot. Running in gym class really aggravated it. We had no idea what was happening with my foot so Mom took me to get it x-rayed. That’s when we solved the mystery of the missing broken needle. It had to be cut out. I have a cute little “x” scar on my foot.

I have never made slow stitching but when I was young I made a lot of embroidery. I am very inspired and have seen all of Anne’s videos and I am now trying to make some. So when I need some time off my junk journals or in front of the tv in the evening I can make this. I am working on a rule right now so I can make it for my spine like you have done in one of your journals...SO beautiful 😍 Thanks for sharing your ideas I absolutely love this... Hugs Tina 🎄🙋‍♀️

This is truly a piece of artwork, so much is going on and yet so delicately stitched. Its beautiful. I am not a sewer, and i hated the classes in school when we would have to make something to wear, i was sure the sewing machines just did not like me. lol lol but hand stitching, I would love to learn. I love your work. Your choices are always so amazing it is the part I struggle with a bit, but I love slow stitching. I skip the tacking as I use a sewline fabric glue stick. That works for me

In the early 1980's I had a green shag pile carpet in a bathroom, with an avocado bath suite and wallpaper with huge tropical leaves, totally hideous now but very on trend at the time. When I'm m not papercrafting I knit, but slow stitching is definitely something on my "to try" list. x

It’s absolutely lovely to see someone who works with, do I hate to say it, old fashioned methods. This first block is just lovely. So soft and very pleasing to the eye. The vintage fabrics and antique laces are to die for. Again your eye for color and placement are spot on. I have been watching several of the other ladies and each has a style of their own.

Love your process and watching you stitch, lm pre recording mine too, but have scheduled the video's on RU-vid it will store it for you Months ahead of time so you wont need to keep it on your phone. Anne loved your piece, it is all very exciting. Tfs hugs Susanna xx 😊❤🧵

I saw Anne unwrap this as well ! Love it! I saw the piece you included from French General , and actually recognized it from some I had from my quilting stash ! Not familiar with one several of you mention - Sanderson . Also have a lot of vintage lace I have from my “mum” using your term . Your voice is very soothing . Helping all of us get through this pandemic.

So lovely! What a precious block! I know Anne will love this! (Loves this)! Thank you for sharing! Oh, I had almost the same experience as your mom except it was a needle and it went in eye first! You could see the eye in the ex ray! It broke off in my big toe so they had to ex ray to find it!

Love that. I have been to Seaforth shop a few times. That type of shop is so handy and such fun, a big treasure hunt. I’m trying a bit of this stitching at the moment. Don’t you hate that insecurity? That piece of Sanderson is gorgeous. There is something about their softened , sort of stone washed, look. Could you put the cotton in your shop? Or is too awkward a shape etc? No never had the shaggy carpet, Berber carpet was the ants pants.Ive got expensive Aurifil threads. I’m not going to use that for tacking, no, no, no. Appliqué only for that one. The finished piece is stunning.

I remember a similar story when i was a school girl, my mom was knitting stockings and we children were watching a film on tv,which was winnetou!!! And when mom sat down on the sofa she sat on that huge knitting needle,.. we children could not stop laughing, while she tried to remove that big thing as the red indians in the movie did,.. So unbelievable dramatic and funny at the same time

I’ve seen this already on Anne’s site and she was delighted. I’ve been a fan of Anne’s work for years. Your block is lovely and is so much her colour choice from the slow stitching she did earlier this year. I’d love to attend a textile fair in Italy and look for the lace. I love stitching by hand and my love of textiles has been a constant in my life since I was about 7 - so over .......years ago! The other constants have been reading and classical music. . Thank you for showing this. I’m a stitcher adrift among the paper crafters and enjoying myself.

How amazing to be a part of such a talented group and in the end, have something from each person. It certainly helps that you have such amazing fabrics. This is going to be amazing to watch over the months. Putting your videos up on YT and scheduling them to air each month is the best way to do it. You can also download to your computer then to an external drive. 🤗💕
