Oh the same here, cancelled the dentist appointment and anything else I could. There was no way on earth I could watch in increments. I’m so grateful to of seen this in its entirety. I wish there was more here but wow I’ll take it. I’ve been on a mission to research Sly’s public persona. All I’m focussed on right now, like a project. So grand to see the man smile. Prior was an treat, as was Muhammad Ali with the political debate. All just so fascinating and deeply precious. Loved all of the music, so curious to find out about Sly’s song about Mother’? Any info on that as I cannot find anywhere else else. Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou 💜❤️👑🏆🪶 xxxxxx

Mike had the best 'booker' in the biz..imagine getting Sly & Family Stone AND Ali on an afternoon chat show together. Couple years earlier, he had John & Yoko & Chuck Berry on same show, only time John ever played with Chuck...& on & on. And Sly genuinely seemed to like him..or maybe appearing several times was his way to thank Mike for letting him be his self...again...damn, I miss the 70s..

You call blatant racism in its purest form Brilliant??? If any other person, of any other race, said a portion of the hate Ali spewed on this show, he or she would be labeled as the worst racist that ever lived. Their lives would be totally destroyed! I think you should take a minute, and step down off of your high horse Francesca, and think about you said. By your profile pic, I'm guessing that you are not black. So, I want to let you know something. That man hated you simply because your skin wasn't the same color as his. You call him Brilliant? Maam, you should be ashamed that your mind works that way!

It's hard to understand, how Sly aloud the drugs too mean more to him than his music. I remember George Clinton 😎, who also has a serious drug problem, but I also remember, George Clinton saying, that nothing was going to get in the way of him and his music. That might have been 20 years ago that George said that, and true too his words, it's 2022 and George is still touring with his band PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC 🎸. At the age of 81 years old, George Clinton, has stood the test of time. George Clinton and Sly stone are still with us, and I believe, Sly is older than George, but the 2 of them are Legendary and pioneers of some of the greatest music of all-times. Let's give up the funk to Sly & the family Stones and George Clinton and PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC Thang, along with Bootsy Collins 🤩, and his Rubber band.

This is some seriously awesome history! When popular music was authentic and played by musicians using actual instruments. Hopefully authenticity will make a come back. There are quite a few actual musicians out there but they are overshadowed by a lot of manufactured, over choreographed pom pom squads, posing as musicians.

Sly was slipping but still looked great and still had the awesome charm in 1974 likely only lines and (because of the time maybe the ludes) He still had some great thoughts and his silly ways, but it sickens me that his creativity(or his work and ethic was being tarnished by partying so much) within a short period the disgusting freebase crap started and he was on his way to nowhere. That shit killed everything and the people like Freddy were also too drugged to lock him down and keep him from himself. The man was a genius composer,"Sex Machine" still blows my mind (maybe the beginning of Jam music,Funk and Jazz fusion all in one instrumental) So in one composition he influences, George Clinton, Stanley Clarke,Prince, and even Jerry Garcia) Between the late sixties and the first few years of the 70s, he is the greatest lyricist on earth in a time when people like Dylan, McCartney, and Lennon were at their best also. By the early 80s he was owned by the pipe and his brain is being slowly crisped. It kills me that we missed so much more from him because of only that crap.As time goes on his junky conduct reduces a genius to a clown type on the petty hustle for pennies.I thank nature for what was created but resent the shit that ruined a legend in everyday from missing gigs(at the beginning) to the paranoid conduct of bizarre crap and isolation he was so typical in his "slipping" witch really hurts because the furthest thing this genius was in this world was typical (prior to the coke and base) he was a treasure of creative genius. Love him to this day but resent him (selfishly) for doing what made him happy or gave him relief from some pain within.I think we need to celebrate him more while we still have him here not once he's gone.Richard was still fast of mind and Ali was giving morality lessons while not being the best husband or father.I am a white Jewish 60 year old who likely watched Richard,Sly and Ali when these shows aired and didn't realize how significant these 3 African American fellas were as entertainers and how special their minds were.

when Bowie lived in LA in the mid 70s during his period of peppers, milk and coke he stopped by his dealer's place where Sly was couched. Sly didn't recognize him but Bowie knew him. Sly started winding Bowie up mocking him on his choice of attire. Bowie's fashion sense was acute and left feeling deeply annoyed and underwhelmed. Could only be 70s LA.
