From Series 1 Show 5 of Smack the Pony, broadcast 16 April 1999.
Common consensus states that all their music spoofs were embarrassing and rubbish, but that's just received opinion at its most tiresome. In fact, they were all great - especially this one, primarily a piss-take of B*Witched, which I'd argue is easily up to Not the Nine O'Clock News standard.
The song is the work of the superb Jonathan Whitehead and is performed here by Sally Phillips, Doon Mackichan, Fiona Allen and Sarah Alexander.

Guess I will settle into the apparent minority of people who loved (still do) the music video spoofs. They were pretty good at hitting the jugular with each genre of music, and a quick browse does show that some of their videos have been mistaken for "real" ones (and some slated accordingly), which adds to the amusement.

I hate the opinion that the songs were the weakest link in the show, they were very funny and observational. It takes a lot to produce a witty send up song and to tap into exactly what they're imitating and still be funny too. Viewed now, with hindsight, they're even more fun, as they're rather nostalgic of a type of pup music that is no longer with us (good or bad? hehe)

This is great... some of their spoof videos were a bit ropey, but qwhen they were good they were brilliant. I always remember the one they did for Republica which was spot on

Yes and in series 3 they totally nailed the spoof pop song on "Getting Doggy With It." Hilarious, and a good song in itself.

Sorry, but got to agree with common consensus here - their spoof songs were appalling, as evidenced by this one. Not even in the same league as NOT's songs, which were a masterclass in observational humour.
