Comment without watching video is not useful either, may be you’re judging the book by the cover without reading it but in case if you missed it I did provided IRR measurements in most of my speaker reviews. Edit: IRR measurements at 1:20 and 8:30.
ASR is often useless and utopious , speakers and stereo equipment are designed and build to be listened to and listening test is a key and only real test needed. So learn how to listen with ears as oscyloscope or multi meter was not intended to listen to music with 😂
@@kdomster9141 Yes, good measurements does not mean anything without hearing it, sometimes great measurements doesn't deliver great sound quality either. I wonder when people would start measuring tube amps 🤔
I just bought a pair. I also own the Spektor 1 and that was my entry point to Dali. I am a minimalist, so I prefer smaller sound system. The sound coming out of these tiny speakers are out of this world. I grew-up with tall, big, chunky speakers, that's why I'm blown away.
I've bought my 5.1 Oberon 1 set - with Oberon Vokal and with a C-8 D subwoofer - not so long ago and they're performing amazingly both in music and movie as well! Greatly recommended set!
When in school there was always one special teacher whose class you always look forward to going to. They made the learning experience fun, as well as being informative and interesting. You sir, are that one special teacher! I enjoy your videos so very much. Your presentation is absolutely second to none. Always informative and a pleasure to watch. Thank you, Chris in Cincinnati!
I have bought the Dali Oberon 3 two month ago for 450€. They are amazing ! I used to have Focal Chorus 716 but these was not much detailed. With the Oberon, I have founded exactly what I want and for a good price. I'have listened to Dali Oberon 1, but as for me, they lack of bass. The Oberon 3 is much better for the price difference! I run my bookshop speakers with a Yamaha s501. To sum up, you should consider to listen to this brand (Dali), their product are a bargain 😉
Yes they are good. My interest in this particular speaker is the tweeter. I have some 20 year old Dali's that need new tweeters. I blew them up , my fault I plugged in my guitar . A very bad idea.
I think someone stated it was voiced to be used with the grills on. I had it in my system a couple of years ago and it was nice. I was hoping for a bit more dynamic range but it's small and I could easily have lived with it. For low to moderate listening levels.
I have been using Dali Spektor 1 and Spektor 2 speakers in my office for about 4 months and I am very pleased. Today I ordered Dali Oberon 1 to use at home and I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for the review.
Dalis are great and very much an underrated brand. you should review their upper tier (Rubicon or Epicon series). It is better than all of the equally-priced speakers I have owned/ tried so far including KEF, B&W, Wharfedale & Dynaudio. Great review. cheers.
@@nc3419 I had the Excite X18. It was decent and very refined. Sometimes bit boring but very neutral & super smooth. But Beside the Dali Rubicon 2, it was no contest. Dali is much faster, more rhythmic, more revealing/transparent, more holographic and more exciting / engaging though a bit bright. Dynes have excellent bass though while the Dalis are rolls off earlier and doesn't have the same punch.
@@mykeldg Thx.. If I ever downsize my Focal 807Ws I would definitely consider Dali Oberon or higher. Ideally, I'd like to have a speaker about a foot tall. Downsizing without really screwing around too much with SQ isn't easy but I find it is doable. The qualities you stated the Dalis have are what I look for. In my experience, Focals have more punch, are a more dynamic speaker but I do like Dali. I have some Triangle Zetas (like the old color series) which are nice too, very musical and sound nice on either class AB or D. It exhibits much of the SQ of the Focals but to a lesser degree. I think they would compare with Oberon 1s with the Oberons maybe having a bit better detail? Moving up the chain you get more but at the listening levels I practice, a really good budget speaker may suffice.
Wow those are great little speakers that pack a Big punch! ps: I just built your speaker cable with the mogami W3104 cable and used Audioquest silver spades and they sound incredible, I was so impressed I also built your RCA interconnects again using mogami cable, it totally revolutionized my system I can't believe how good it sounds now. Thank you for sharing how to build those cables. Keep up the Great work. from Canada
i love dali speakers, great sound from them,i still own dali zensor 1 with denon rcd m39,(both 6ohms)great match and sound, please review opticon also in the future, great channel😁😁😁😁😁
the dali zensor 1 which was the old version of these was my first pair of speakers. If they sound anything like their predecessor, I definietly recommend them for near field listening
I went from the Zensor 1 to the Oberon 1, very similar with the Oberon being a touch more refined, slightly sweeter tone and slightly better imaging (like 10-20% better). Have now moved up to the Opticon 2 MK2, beautiful sound and a significant step up. Dali love ❤️
@@pinoyxbox I also used them in near field and had good results with the onkyo 9110. it sells for 200€ here but is much more expensive in the US. So it depends on where you live. I think they don’t need any specific amp, but I felt like the bass was a bit too soft, so a meatier amp like Denon might be a good choice.
high end super sensitive had to turn the db down to match my 100 watt speakers though since these are 75 watts the 75 watts will sound louder than the 100 watts speakers if you dont balance them out super clear sound
I have been eyeing these for quite some time now!! Want to upgrade my home bookshelf from Edifier 1280BT to some high-quality ones. These look fantastic.
what would be your budget for bookshelfs ? for my opinion & eperiences you get better sound quality in the active section like the Abacus cbox 4 , Focal, Neumann, Eve Audio...
Just remember, Dali voice their speakers with the GRILLS ON! The grills should be on to get the best sound out of them. Some people say the treble is harsh - thats because the grills are off.
Dali Zensor just sound better :) Not that Oberon sounds bad, but the higher tones don't sound as soft and brilliant as the Zensor. All models and the higher range than the Oberon have a bright and brilliant sound, which I do not understand why Dali has a warmer sound with this model.
Man Oh Man Thar... I don't know how or where you find the great products you review but you always find them... you do a great job. These speakers look ideal for their intended purpose. Have you considered trying them with some good tube amplification?
Haha some ppl like piano, some like violin, some like the flute. Seriously the instrument (fabric of tweeter) is what the voice of the chick is going to sound like, that’s more important. Doesn’t matter if it doesn’t produce exactly what the author intended to.
“Some of them I got letters from their lawyers, so don't think all the RU-vid reviews are the same, you need to dig deeper to who is real and who’s not” -Tharbamar Subscribed Edit: purchased Dali Oberon 1 based in large part on this review. Be real. H/T question for you; can this Oberon 1 serve as L/R in 3.2 setup paired with Focal 300 IW6 (in-wall) center and two SVS SB-1000 Pro??
I wasn't a big fan of previous- Zensor range. There was some dryness in treble which I did'n t like. But this one may be a different story. But I would still prefer Kef Q100 or Q150 over these Oberons. What do you think would be better ? Greets from Poland.
I enjoy your detailed descriptions of sound quality. Very helpful when one can't audition. Could you advise me if Dali Oberon 1 would pair with a Sabaj or SMSL class D amplifier. Or would class D lack enough warnth for that particular speaker?
Hi. Thank you for the interesting review. I got this speakers and wish to get a subwoofer to improve the sound of bass. Which one would you recommend to me for a 15 square meters living room? Thank you.
Thank you for your reviews. If you choose between the Oberon 1 and the B&W 607 S2 Anniversary, which one would you leave for listening to music at low and medium volume? Please write the reasons for your choice.
607 S2 AE will have slightly better power handling and a bit tighter bass with more spacious highs but highs can be more fatiguing and forward, Oberon 1 in the other hand can provide a bit more engaging midrange, easier for paring component and little more forgiving, It’s tough choices but you have to choose base your taste, thanks
Can you make a general comparison between the Dali Oberon 1s and the Aperion Verus III you reviewed? Bass-Mids-Highs, separation , tonality? Thanks. Midsize room use.
Hi Luis, I actually have both of those speakers. The Oberon 3 offers more bass, but doesn’t quite have the refinement and detail of the Chora 806. Both have wonderful detail, but Focal is just on another level. The Oberon 3 has a bit more of a richer tone and does well with all types of music. Vocals are pretty close on both, both have a more forward presentation. Honestly though, these are two of the best bookshelf speakers I’ve heard for under $1000 usd.
Certainly impressive performance from such a small speaker, I've also been eyeing them. But I like the look of the new Opticon mk2, satin versus vinyl. Would you recommend nearfield? Love your videos Tharbamar!
Is this better than the Wharfedale Diamond 225? Will this be an upgrade from it? You think the big brother Dali Oberon 3 will handle power better? Thanks.
quick question i ordered the DALI oberons to go with my yamaha sw200 and my, soundblaster x7 (yeah thats prolly stupid.) It can do Max: 50 W + 50 W (4 ohm, 1 kHz, 10% THD) Power rating: 37 W + 37 W (4 ohm, 1 kHz, 1% THD) i currently use the jbl control ones and i want something better, now after seeing ur review im worried that it will sound terrible with the 37w my dac can do what do you think?
THere are far too many little bookshelf bangers that people talk about Eg KEF LS50, Klipsch 600M, Elac Debut B6.2, Elac Unifi UB62 Ref,Triangle Borea BR03, Focal Aria 906, Monitor Audio Silver 100, Elac Vela, Quad S2, B&W 706 S2. to name but a few (10) And now here's another...
@@Tharbamar Don't think I'm having a dig at you , but that list of 10 is by no means complete, there is easily another 10 I made a note of. So you guys review these speakers and you say the SAME thing every time, "great bass for the size" really ? What about compared to another bookshelf ? does that phrase still have any value ? So many "over performers" that I don't know where to start , I don't think anybody is going to let me listen to 20 at a time to narrow it down.
Do you know I made comparison videos? I share my true experience, if you think that’s not worth buying it that’s your call, my duty is to share my opinion. I have received many speakers and there’s not a bad one, some are good, some are better. So I rate them accordingly, if anyone made bad or overpriced one you’ll hear it from me, see my review of Buchadt S300, Dali Zensor 3, Ascend Sierra MKI, Monitor Audio Bronze, B&W 685 S2 etc., Some of them I got letters from their lawyers, so don’t think all the RU-vid reviews are the same, you need to dig deeper to who is real and who’s not.
@@Tharbamar I did say i'm not having a dig, or a cheap shot at you. I absolutely love your videos, where else would I get the information ? Here's the thing. I want to buy a pair of standmount speakers, and my simple point is there are too many to choose from ! I want to go to a HiFi store with shortlist of three or four. (not 20) It's my problem and i will continue watching, maybe doing two or three visits to different shops before deciding. I see you as gifted in this area, please keep up the good work.
@@skyengeh I do understand you, I would like to advice you to know what is the sound you are after, that should be real decision making point for anyone, reviewers have too many speakers and too much time with different speakers, just have to take it as grain of salt. Thanks
Hello .... nice to see your review about dali...... can you suggest me a speaker between both jbl stage a130 vs jbl northridge e30 which one is best between both of these.....
Hi, Tharbamar, I have Oberon 1, they are excellent for the price! Would you please compare Quad S 2 with Oberon 1? Which has overall better sound quality? Thanks!
Hi, tharbamar. Great informative review. Thanks. I bought me a couple of Dali Oberon 1 recently and I noticed the same excess of bright sound you mentioned. Like it is too forward for me, even in the vocals department which I am more used to listen to in the background. Any other tips beyond placing the panels? I did and I still resent the brightness. Thanks in advance for your reply.
@@derekallan1341 I have both, the Oberon 1 and 3. Both are great speakers. The Oberon 3 have better power handling and more bass, because of the 7 inch mid/bass driver and bigger cabinet.
I don't want to offend anyone, but first of all, you should know something about human ears before you start talking about measuring speakers. Human ears themselves are not perfect and linear. a person from the age of 25-35 can hear a maximum frequency of 17-khz-6db and with age this limit decreases even more. Another thing is that everyone hears a little differently, which means that everyone is comfortable with a different sound. Just because someone has a lot of money to spend or owns a store doesn't mean they have good ears because that. it's not about practice but about the fact that human ears are not perfect. Like high-quality MP3 vs CD, it couldn't tell any difference in sound even on a very high-quality audio setup. Only people with very bad or low hearing were able to distinguish the differences, because masked by the frequency, which MP3 does, it no longer works properly and people can hear the differences.
Oberons sound great for their size, but 90% of quality and juiciness of their sound comes from the amplifier. On a lesser amp, these Oberons will sound differently.
@@Tharbamar yes for sure, anyway I think You reviewed the jbls and You also liked, what I mean Is that the difference in price point doesnt show a clear advantage over the jbls from these oberon, and for me the jbls are More transparent, every Time I listen to them it's like being in the studio or concert
