A pre-lockdown dash out into the Solent to make the most of a weather window after 2 weeks of storms. I knew there was the chance of small eels, a possibility of codling but we were in for a surprise...
Stuart was keen to try the boat out in open water and this was my first run out of any distance, I have been really happy with all aspects of performance including speed and fuel consumption. I have spent time fine tuning my anchor set-up and with a larger buoy (A4) and a lighter chain, I think I now have it dialled in. everything worked well on the day and retrieve was far easier than previous.
I am fishing with 2 very cheap rod, reel & line setups purchased from Decathalon and at time of buying they were £34 each. For the price they obviously have their limitations but coped with the conditions on the day.
Replacements are on order and it will be interesting to compare the performance difference.
