The best treasure of all is that little boy of yours! What an awesome kid! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a child his age that well behaved and able to Entertain himself and use his imagination. You are doing such a fabulous job with him! Oh yea, and another great video, Kat!! Thank you!
I found a Van Briggle Lotus bowl at an estate sale for 8.00! I was totally going to sell it for a good price, but the more I looked at it, the more I became enamored and I just couldn't part with it. That's my problem, I end up keeping things sometimes
I recently bought 4 Van Briggle pieces at an auction, 3 vases and a unique mushroom that is a tea light holder. I am keeping one of the vases for myself and listing the other 3. Sometimes I keep things for a while, then sell, other items become part of my permanent collection but I totally get wanting to keep all the things!! I love pottery pieces.
Perhaps of interest, the Guido Gambone markings, pieces made at la Faenzarella 1939-1950 are marked with the donkey motif and the 'Italy'. Pieces made at Pirrena 1950-1967 are marked the same way. Late work is often marked 'Gambone Italy'. Thanks for featuring his pottery works, I'm just loving this video and marveling at the prices achieved at auction.
The F&B sterling vase is not plain if you look up close. This guilloche enamel is a very difficult process. They finely engrave the surface of the silver and then apply the enamel. It is spectacular ✨️
I like the way you organized all the research videos, so I can go back and watch again. So much valuable information in these. Thanks for doing the work and helping to expand our knowledge.
Some Collectors are able to identify glass and pottery vases by their characteristics when they are not marked. It doesn't hurt to study them. Thanks for all the great info and your hard work.
Thanks for sharing. I sold about 8 yrs ago a Mottaheh floral fruit vase I bought at my neighborhood yard sale for $10 . I started it at $19.95 auction & ended with 17 bids & sold for $317.00 . The buyer bought it for his wife for Christmas & asked me not to leave feedback
I’ve been doing eBay for 28 years. The big items to look for are the Judds family cookbook, going for over 125$. And hallmark frosty friends 1980s or ornament for over 200$.
I just realized you are showing "what sold" not what you sold😂😂I was thknking...wooooww...you still deserve a wow!❤ thank you for sharing your knowledge
I’ve watched this video several times. I’ve been collecting bud vases for over a year, to use as favors for my 50th anniversary. Because of your video I have been checking them for value and found several worth good money. I paid no more than $2 for any. The Crystal heart that comes in at over $400 blows me away.
Love it You always got the beautiful child behind you Freaking out over the Mexican vase for over hundred I once had collection of red Mexican pottery From large platter to small 6-8 inches plates Mostly birds some really cool rabbits The best one was a small plate w central design of small boy on back of baby elephant Do miss that one
"Amor u Psyche": the name Psyche is pronounced psych-E and means "the soul". Greek myth is Psyche and Eros (the handsome son of Aphrodite) and Roman is Cupid (handsome son of Venus and not the cherub with a bow and arrow we all know) so kind of a mash-up there as "Amor u" (Latin) to represent "Eros or Cupid and". Thanks for the heads up with the bud vases, I pick interesting ones up whenever possible and now I know some names to look for; this was a great idea for a video. I love to grab a few flowers from the garden and scatter or group them in bud vases. 🌸🌼🏵️😊🇨🇦
I'm learning so much! I hope linens are on your list of research videos. Especially handkerchiefs, pillow cases. Things that not many people pay attention to at sales.
Your channel is a relatively new discovery for me and I love it, especially these teaching videos! You are enlightening and upbeat and unique, I believe, in offering these educational researched vids. Looking forward to your video on pottery. I love ceramics and art glass equally, so could we have one on the latter, please? Tom
LOVE it! Hope the Nurse Flipper camp is amazing!!!! Wish I could be there!!!! Another awesome video and love this series Kat! Thanks for all you do for us!
@@TheNurseFlipper I'm sad to miss another camp but wouldn't drive back to Sevierville from Jax for a $20,000 eBay sale. Well, maybe. We went with my daughter and family in March. The mountains are awesome, Gatlinburg and Dollywood are total tourist traps and are both suffering from supply chain issues. The best and easiest fun we had was at a roadside place called "Goats on the Roof". I'm sure it's near where you will be. You HAVE to stop there and go on their ride with Dalton. We almost didn't because it doesn't look so great from the road. Dalton will love it!! (And there's an antique shop across the street. didn't go, though) This is too long-should have put it in an email.
Loving these videos, bless you Kat. I buy from auctions and charity shops here in UK, never really had interest in vases /ceramics as didn’t know anything about them. Your channel has sparked an interest and will definitely be looking at them a lot more now. Taking screen shots of all of them so that when they come up at auction I will hopefully recognise some of them and make some educated choices. 🙏
The sterling vase you were surprised at price was due to the guilloche enamel work on it. I’ve sold one vintage guilloche enamel cuff link for close to $100. Not even a pair, just one cuff link.
I've been collecting for years and every time I watch one of your videos I learn something and I watch the entire video with my mouth hanging open. Thank you for all your hard work and the time you save us. My family and I are eternally grateful. By the way, your son is so peacefully enjoying the tiny little world he has imagined inside that little cabinet...🫶🤭🫣😇👏👏👏👏👏😊
Van Briggle’s studio was in Colorado Springs, downtown area has his tiles on the planters, beautiful work, many of the old houses near downtown also have his tiles on fireplaces, kitchens, baths etc.
Dalton is such a charming young man, just love him!!! I love selling bud vases, they sell through very well, not all of them valuable but they all sell. The Lu-Ray Pastels vase you showed was mine!! I only knew about the brand because of you, thank you so much for your informative videos. I found two Heath Ceramics vases at the SA for $1 a piece about 6 months ago. I could tell they were quality pottery but was blown away when I looked them up! Mine sold for $75 a piece, they were more common colors but they sold in less than a day.
The thing about pottery is there are many many studios that made/make studio pieces in very small numbers, which is why they go for good money, but also why they are very difficult to find. Pottery is art after all, and many of these valuable ones are possibly one of a kind and/or made in very small batches. It may also depend on your location; there may be a local studio in your region that is more popular there, and you therefore will have a better chance of finding their pieces in your region than anywhere else. Kat, I love when you point out their wasted use of title character space! It is valuable real estate and you need to use it wisely!
I started sourcing on January 1 of 2023. I made an amazing buy on that day within 10 feet of walking into the store. That got me pretty motivated and the next thrift store I went into. I reached up and grabbed a vase. Didn’t know anything about the maker and I was looking it up as I was shopping for more. Didn’t have a great signal but when I got home my husband looked it up for me and found that it’s sold for $800 on first dibs. It cost me $2.99. I have not put it up for auction yet as I wanted to learn a little bit more about my options. My husband reached out to the seller and the seller said they are not allowed to tell how much they actually sold it for but they think in the United States, I could get between 400 and $600. Fingers crossed. I don’t wanna do something stupid where I’m gonna lose out on 100 or more, so that face is sitting out-of-the-way for the time being. That said I’ve done super well since the beginning of January and it’s only the 24th and I have made well over $600 with a very limited amount of listings. You have helped immensely. I watch you and everybody else. Heck, I don’t even have medium bubble wrap yet, and I’m kicking butt.
That doesn’t change the fact that Mackenzie Child isn’t a she. Also the comment doesn’t say they still have anything to do with the company. It says the founded it.
I absolutely love your channel! I appreciate the variety and level of detail that you provide to part-timers like me. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise!
Good video. Can’t believe the prices. I have a Waterford crystal bidvase that is 10” tall but very thin from the 1960s. It’s been on my dresser since then with a silk rise in it. I’ll pass it on to a granddaughter but wonder what it’s worth now after almost 60 years.
This video was very interesting. Poor as I am, I am lucky enough to be the owner of a turquoise Van Briggle vase with dragonflies. My Mother was putting together an estate sale for a friend back in the 90s. I saw the vase, instantly knew what it was, and asked her how much it was. My Mom said it was a piece of junk and only worth a dime. I bought it then and there and told her it was worth at least a couple hundred. It is so beautiful with yellow daffodils in it in the spring. Even though I need money, I will never sell it. I will probably have to be buried with it, Lol. I hope you find a Van Briggle some day.
I love your educational videos even if I am not a reseller but I often go to estate sales and thrift stores, and Dalton is so adorable , and well mannered.
Thanks! I need to watch your trinket boxes video again. I picked up a plain white rectangular TIL Japan for $1.00. It had been sitting on the thrift store shelf for months at just a dollar. It's listed at up to $45 online. In conversation with a thrift store manager the other day I asked him why the three boxes I was about to purchase were only a dollar or two apiece. He said that the simple reason is they don't sell at that store. They do now.. In the last few days I've purchased a Villeroy and Bosch Naif Christmas theme, a San Fransisco, an Aynsley Famille Rose heart shaped box, and more. Including a 3 inch Japanese bud vase that needs more research as it may be anywhere from a 60 dollar to a major auction piece. Alas for me, one of my daughters has claimed it. I will take more pictures and do more research. Anyways, thanks for these tutorials. I'm a 73 yo veteran. I just started collecting this year. I've also just started selling at the local Saturday flea market and doing ok so far. Learning that so many things have such a high value is fun and profitable. Eventually I'll get on ebay and the like. Your videos are great because you get me to thinking of how to best promote my little treasures. Because I live in a tourist town, Taos, New Mexico, we get wealthy tourists. So, my flea market prices are going up! up! up! Thanks to you and your videos! Happy treasure hunting!
The information you deliver is available to anyone willing to look for it, but you do all the hard work and research and bring it together in easy to watch and concise video. I have come to the realization that I settled for a quick nickel instead of waiting for the slow dime numerous times. Even more important, how I left money on the table by not using the best strategy for that individual item. Love what you do! Hi to Dalton.
You said Fenton isn't normally marked, but some is stamped in the glass and others have a foil sticker. It depends on creation date. Just a heads up....
Never would have known those first two Roseville vases were Roseville. Certainly nothing like the brown and floral pieces we're so familiar with. Thanks for sharing the knowledge.
This was very interesting. I love many of these little vases, but I especially got a kick out of the set that all fit together like a puzzle. They are probably extra hard to find them all and in good condition.
Love these informative videos!!! 👏 I am all about learning new artists and makers...keeps my resellers eye sharp and makes that treasure hunt even more exciting 😍 Thank you so much for your awesome content! 😀
Thank you for being so generous with your time in sharing your research with us. I speed up your videos when I want to get through them quickly. I found that once I start watching one of your videos, I have to watch until the end. You do very well in your presentation. GBWY💞
I love this series you’re doing! I’m going to South Carolina next month and they have a 47 acre flea market and I can’t wait to go there with all this knowledge lol
A tip with Galle , the fakes usually have the galle signature too large or sticks out like a sore thumb. Pretty much trying way too hard to be noticed.
I am not a reseller but love your videos especially the research ones. I am also a huge fan of studio pottery, translucent glass and art glass in general. Don’t know if if you are familiar with Daum art glass which comes from Nancy, France but it is mind blowing. Takes my breath away just looking at pictures of it.
Olvera Street, at 1:01, is in Los Angeles, it is considered the founding street of the city. Today it a marketplace style place to eat, shop & see history. Great info, thank you!
Hiya- concerning the Antique Royal vase : Bonn was the former capital of Germany 🇩🇪 ( when Berlin was divided in East Berlin and West Berlin).and the artist is Franz Anton Melhem. Don’t hesitate and reach out to me when you need help to identify an item from Germany. I live also in Florida, but shuttle back and forth to Germany very often. I am not a seller, just a crazy collector of nearly everything, hahaha 🤣. Cheers,Susanne
Vases, bud vases, teapots and pitchers are my favorite things to sell. I found a collection of teapots today...bought 5 good brands to resell. Heath pottery always sells quick for me. Esperges too. I found a silver plated one and thought it was so cool that all the parts unscrewed. I have found 3 Mackenzie Childs pieces but not vases yet.
Fiesta is made by the Homer Laughlin company. Always has been, that's why you'll see the same glaze colors in both, mainly the old pieces. Loved the 2 vases you showed by Fiesta! ~ I'm not a reseller :)
