Tiny Treasures. Next to buying silver the most popular questions I get are about fractional gold. Why? First everyone knows that silver is at a lower price point that allows most people to begin stacking. But after you have stacked silver, you sometimes have the desire to try other stuff. You might think about platinum or palladium but then you look at the charts and you see one metal that seems to be the king of precious metals and you begin to want gold. But an ounce of gold is well over $2,000. Do you have that kind of money to spend on stacking gold? If you do Bravo! But if you don’t you look at the next best thing fractional gold. If you watch any RU-vid channels you know that 1/10th ounce gold coins are the most popular, if you look at US mint sales of gold you will see that 1/10th ounce gold American eagles sell very well, but why? They are affordable to some. But they do run at about $300 dollars. That’s like 10 one-ounce silver coins or rounds. You see the dime size piece of gold and you see 10 full ounces of silver. silver looks like the better deal. But you still want gold.

As for me, I stack the frac. I have several reasons for doing so, but that’s my method.

I like the fractionals after getting plenty of silver. I like having goals to keep me interested. My first was a quarter of each of the six coins I silver stack. Then I got a tenth gold to match each quarter. After that the goals involve mostly AGEs, a capsuled tube of tenth/quarters for example. I also like getting a tenth Kookaburra each year; they're so beautiful.

Great topic! And yes, I agree, I am a silver stacker and have been for eight years but over the past two years I’ve tried to concentrate on adding quarter ounce gold coins too. And back in the day about six or seven years ago, I would buy 1/10 ounce gold coins about once every 4 to 5 months but I do admit I love the quarter oz gold coins now, whichever one is on sale!

Good morning! Yes! I'm also a fan of fractional gold including the 1/10 oz. and 1/4 oz AGEs and the Argor Heraeus and Valcambi gram bars. (And I do shop around for the lowest premiums.) Have a great rest of the weekend, C & C! 👍

Love me some 1/10 Au, really happy when 1/4 fit the cost average approach. I’ve been stepping back in the last few months, a deep dip would be ideal. Mene, is a 24k jeweller in NY. They have small pieces that are affordable, every piece is attached to spot… and they notify you of your purchase’s value. I’m mainly in coin stacking, but I like the idea of having some jewelry that is part of my stack.

I have changed my mind over the years on gold. I no longer buy into the save up for a full ounce argument. Fractional will always sell better I think and if you hold long enough and sell at the right time you’ll make back those premiums. As of late I’ve really been favoring the commemorative gold $5 & $10 on the secondary market because they are usually less expensive premium wise over AGE 1/10, 1/4, or 1/2 pieces. And they are US gold, proof, and a lot of variety! I’ve never like the gold backs, too much premium. They are fun to collect I guess, but not stackable. Thanks for sharing! -PiFS 🐀

When silver premiums are crazy high, 1/10 oz gold can be a better ratio buy. Today though, agree. Not so great.

Most of my gold is frack. I love it. Yes the premiums can be higher than 1oz gold coins but in the end gold is only gonna go up and if your goal ia long term keeping up with inflation it's not bad to buy frack.

@CashAndCoinsYT Месяц назад
True I’ve bought 1/10th oz of gold well under $200. Keep on stacking.
@dontask8979
@dontask8979 Месяц назад
The only time a full ounce is a better deal, is if you are buying a full ounce. If you have to save for that full ounce, you are far better off picking up the fracs and getting into the habit of monthly pickups. Chances are in a few years your cost average will be under spot. You're only saving 5% to 8% buying a full ounce at best. Monthly you have the opportunity of doubling up on months where spot is down. Having that opportunity is well worth it. I have only picked up a full ounce twice, and my cost average is less then I paid for either of those full ounces. Math tells me that I would have a lower cost average withOUT buying the full ounces. Silver premiums are way higher then even 1/10 Gold.
@CashAndCoinsYT
@CashAndCoinsYT Месяц назад
I can’t argue with that. You are my biggest inspiration when it comes to 1/10th oz gold. You truly have a gift! Thank you sir.

Even tenth ounce American gold Eagles are generally less expensive, as a percentage, than American silver Eagles. My dealer has tenth oz. Eagles at 12%, and silver Eagles at $5 over spot which comes out to over 17% at a spot price of $29.

I think fractional gold is the best way to go if your stacking gold, Cash and Coins. I've changed some of my perspectives on gold. Totally agree with this video. If you are stacking stay away from slabbed coins, avoid gold bars, it's better to buy gold coins - stick to raw gold bullion fractional coins like 1/10 oz and 1/4 oz American Gold Eagles, 1/10 oz and 1/4 oz Canadian Gold Maples. Use new investment money rather than breaking beneficial investments that are tax free like ROTH IRAs. f you are buying gold, make sure you check the local laws on buying precious metals. In some jurisdictions, you are charged VAT taxes when you buy gold, other jurisdictions tax you whenever you sell your gold, you have to declare it on your income taxes or you will face stiff fines. In other places you could go to jail like several Middle Eastern countries like Turkey if you don't make a declaration of how much gold you bought and sold.

I think the decision to pick up gold bars is regional. In my area of the U.S., the LCS pays spot for them. With such a low premium on certain gram bars, it’s a good way-for me, at least-to augment my gold stack with some variety.
