How is the humidity holding up? Usually, you have to join the spanish cedar better than just gluing planks next to each other onto plywood...otherwise, theres no seal to trap humidity.
Holds up great. Never had any issues and ive built many many humidors. Desktop humidors are the ones you have to worry more about a nice seal. Cabinet humidors have humidifiers in them that maintain the humidity.
Hey you made a really nice humidor i love the collor. Im making a humidor my self for the school project and was woundering what coating are you using to make it that dark?
This I think is the 3rd or 4th build I've watched of yours. They look great. I am wondering though with the plywood having slats for humidity control, how is that affected over time?
@DsHardWoodCreations I'm wondering if the plywood is going to delaminate over time due to the humidity in the humidor. I know the Spanish cedar would work I'm just wondering about the plywood.
@glenziga7464 i dont think it will. The ply is completely covered by the spanish cedar on inside. And then 65-70 % humidity is still lower than some areas of the country. Plus the ply is veneer ply as well not the cheap stuff from big box stores. But all in all over the last 5 years havent seen an issue.
@DsHardWoodCreations Good to know. So do you add finish to the vent slots in the base where the humidifies let's humidity in? That's the part I was wondering about. If it's lasted 5 years with no issues then I have learned something new. Thanks.
@glenziga7464 oh ok. No i dont add any finish inside. But i dnt think it would hurt to maybe add a coat or two of shellac to play it safe if u wanted to
Holds up very well. Obviously you have to think ahead when building and take wood movement in mind and leave alil bit of room for it. But never had issues with separation or anything.
I believe this was before i got my 18in laguna bandsaw saw i just had my 14in rikon. I never had much luck resawing on it or ahould i say satisfied with the outcome. Now the laguna ill resaw on that with complete confidence.
I believe this one was around 1500-1600.00 was made from alder. So far everyone who has ordered the cabinet humidors has made the drive to get them bc shipping is outrageous and then too have to worry about the shipping company not mishandling it.
@8BitLife69 correct i had just discovered how easy the pinch clamps were so i used them instead. But yea dominos definitely way to go. Sometimes i make things much harder than they should be. Story of my life.
@@DsHardWoodCreations Don't we all brother? Love your videos. I've got a humidor I need to build into our builtin bookcases for the basement. Can't find a good source of spanish cedar locally anywhere.
