In this video, I turn a small basement room into a kitchenette with a budget of only $100. This is truly a small kitchen makeover full of DIY projects that cost very little money. Projects include removing acoustical ceiling tiles, laying leftover vinyl flooring scraps, trimming out cabinetry, recovering unattractive countertops and door fronts, painting paneling, repairing water damage to paneling and sheet rock, taping and finishing sheet rock walls, using scrap wood for crown mounding, installing quarter round baseboard, creating a bar top using an old oak shelf, and more.

It’s too difficult to pick one favourite project from your transformation. Everything is amazing! $136.00? It is a great space! Though I don’t know if young people truly appreciate the importance of their surroundings, you will likely rest easy knowing that you have provided a beautiful “home” for your youngest. It is my daughters birthday today. We went out to dinner and one of the questions on the great granddaughter’s kiddie menu asked “if you could have dinner with someone famous who would it be.” The other great granddaughter said “ Nana will choose her You tube lady Sherrie!” Yup she’s right! You did an amazing job, lady! That was a lot of work and it looks great. I couldn’t believe how much better it looked after you took down the ceiling tiles and then trimmed it out. The vinyl flooring was nice and I liked the idea of using the contact paper to cover the countertops. I really liked your paper behind the cabinets. You just amaze me with your skills. Good job! Well Sherry what an amazing job you’ve done in the whole basement and upstairs too. This kitchen is fabulous and I love the whole basement, for what it has cos you on the kitchenette it’s hard to believe, and how lucky when you pulled all that stuff off the ceiling, all that beautiful wood above looks great and those light fittings are awesome. You deserve a medal for creating something terrific out of nothing much. You always seem to have that magic 'hat' to pull out useful things from your endless stash of wonders. It had to have taken years and years to build up so many odds & ends that you can find a use for. Ever have trouble finding things you know you have somewhere stored??? I wonder how your son reacted to his remodeled apartment that you spent so much loving time and energy creating for him? Does he get to keep the decorations and kitchen supplies you put on his shelves and walls? It doesn't look like he'll be doing much cooking? And unfortunately, there is no sink. He is a lucky young man to have a mom like you!

you worked your magic again! i lived in a space with a “kitchen” like that. a 2 burner hot plate, a toaster oven, microwaves hadn’t been invented yet! add a coffee maker and a mini fridge and you can really cut down on eating out. dishes got washed in the bathroom or the laundry sink. definitely doable! (you are amazing but please wear a mask and gloves if you’re ripping stuff out)

And you know years ago when I had a larger vehicle I used to pick up things like that by the side of the road and put them in my car myself to remake too!! I'm with you on that. That was a lot of hard work and I’m very impressed. You’re not gonna believe this but one of my favorite things was something that you really didn’t show till the end.
