Awesome video! I'm definitely getting a plastic see-through egg container. I hate opening the carton and finding out I only have 1-3eggs left lol.

I know this is an older video, but I wanted to say that I found an egg container that clips under the fridge shelf, and is a drawer. Nothing gets stored on top of it, and it's always easy to pull out. It holds a dozen and a half of eggs. I found it on Amazon, I believe, and it wasn't too expensive, but it was about 2 years ago so I really don't remember. Anyway, I have been using it for two years and it works to store my eggs safely. Usually in the spring I put a second one in the fridge for hard boiled eggs with labels clipped on the front. One year those labels fell off and my husband wanted a heard boiled egg. He couldn't figure out which was which so he used the eeni-meeni-miney-moe meathod. It was kind of funny seeing him crack open an egg and then stand there staring at a hand full of clear and yellow goo in his hand.

Nice tips. I'm like your husband, I'm a visible person and don't want to spend time reading all the spice labels. I just know what the spice containers look like and I'm good. However, they really do look nice, but just not practical for me. I do have the raised tier tray (so I can see everything) and I love it!

Kayla I loved this so much! 👏🏽🤎 So many great tips you shared. I love the pantry solution you came up with. I need to look into getting one of those too; our pantry is so tiny. And I loved the spice cabinet with the tiered organization.

I love it!! If you do decide to purchase it the bottom two bars should be stable and not wobble. If it does wobble you need to swap them. I almost left them a bad review until I realized I put it together wrong 😅🤣

I love this! And will be taking many of the ideas for my own kitchen. My apartment is outdated, so the cabinet space is limited. Now that I am starting to cook more, I need to organize for easier access. Thank you for this simple but amazing video.

Thank you! I’m so glad this was helpful. It makes cooking so much more enjoyable for me now. Especially having my pots at eye level and not having to crawl for them. 🤦🏾‍♀️😂 Sis, the struggle was REAL! It seemed like the one pot I needed was always the one at the very back.

Very nice! I actually have a couple of the organization things you used! I can’t seem to bring myself to jump on the spice container bandwagon. Yes they look nice but like you, my husband does the cooking and it would frustrate him, and also to have constantly refill. The same with the eggs. I can’t see how it would give me more space. The pot rack is fabulous!
@KaylaElizabeth
@KaylaElizabeth 2 года назад
I didn’t think about having to refill the spice jars all of the time. That would definitely get a bit annoying. The egg container takes up the same amount of space for sure but its been nice to know how many eggs I have left without having to open the carton 😂 and the pot rack has been my husband’s favorite thing! He’s made a few comments about it being so much easier when he’s cooking. Thank so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment.

Why do people put their eggs in those plastic holders and not just stick the carton in the fridge? Thank you for video.

I'm late to this party but wanted to record my own thoughts for your use. Count yourself lucky to have your old fridge. 'Modern' fridges have glass shelves, but you have these great wire shelves. Wire shelves allow much better air circulation, which means your fridge is more uniform in temperature, has fewer 'warm spots', and also means your refrigerator motor doesn't work as hard. A newer fridge has the option of Energy Star efficiency, which may save money on electricity, but the wire shelves of your old fridge are less likely to contribute to food spoilage, so there's higher savings in reduced food waste and less 'expiration tyranny' forcing you to amend meal plans to use up over-ripening foods before they rot. Something else to consider when you setup/organize a fridge/freezer is the importance and impact of line-of-sight. All human beings are prone to 'out of sight, out of mind'; we forget what we can't see, especially if we miss it on a regular basis. Fridges and freezers are notorious sites of forgotten foods that expire simply because we didn't see them and forgot about them. Foods die in the back of shelves and spaces. I've set up my fridge and freezer with narrow but deep-reaching bins. When I pull it out to get something, I can also take a quick look at what else is in that bin and what state it's in; I see what is going bad, what's running out, and what options should be considered for future or current use. The bins also help categorize by food use (sandwich, condiment, breakfast) and food type (dairy, meats, spreads, beverages) or even just space demands (very short or very tall containers). I have a galley kitchen even tinier than yours, but I live alone so only cook for one. Still, I do have to accommodate pots and pans and lids. I have them in a deep base cabinet, but I'm getting too old to do as you used to, get down on the floor to reach in. I now use larger bins from Target. They come in a basketweave design in several colors and the same footprint in two different heights, which allows for short and tall opening heights. I can nest my cookware in these baskets, with the lids set in on edge against the front or side wall interior of the bin, and just pull the bin out like a trackless drawer to select what I need to cook in. Even though my cookware base cabinet is narrow, the cookware bins still leave enough space to take flat items like trays, cooking sheets, and cutting boards. If you put extension rods from the surface of the top shelf to the cabinet ceiling, you can create a slot to store flat items long-ways into the depth of the deep cabinet. Another way to store your boxes of ziploc bags, foil, cling film, and wax/parchment paper is to use those wedge-shaped file/magazine holders to contain them. They come in sturdy paper and plastic; plastic is my choice for kitchens and bathrooms, to survive spillage. The holders can be set on their long end, with the wedged opening facing the cabinet door, or they can be mounted with Command strips on the inside of the cabinet door (if you use those velcro picture-hanging strips, you can remove the holder as needed to take your entire selection to wherever you're working). Good call on not packaging your spices in uniform containers! And good choice of marrying a man who likes to cook! Seriously, homemakers are NOT organizing to meet Pinterest standards; we need to set up in such a way that meets functional demands first and esthetics second. I really, really enjoyed your video. I've spent a lot of time looking through organization videos, looking for ideas, hacks, and products to make my own kitchen a more perfectly-function space. But I love the down-to-earth tone of your video best. It's practical, it works within the constraints of the situation you have, it doesn't try to achieve some fancy-shmancy image, and you don't try to 'spend' your way out of the obstacles in your way. What a lot of RU-vid organizers forget is that it's less about WHAT you do with a challenging space and more about how you approach the challenges. Analyzing the problems and even changing the goals when circumstances call for it; these are far more universal than "I bought this to go there and now it's so PRETTY!" Even though our kitchens and challenges are different, I got so much more out of this by following your mindset and how you worked each problem. Thank you for such a thought-provoking and inspiring video. Now I'm going to go stare at my tiny kitchen and see if I can't find yet one more thing I could do better with it!

Thank you so much for watching and you are so right about the wire shelves providing better circulation. I never thought about it that way! I also love your suggestion for storing tin foil and cling wrap. I will be giving that a try. Thanks!
