in this system we use a 300l fish tank and 2 Grow Beds with 160l in total. Aquaponics systems work good with a ration starting from 0,5 (Grow Bed volume) : 1 (Fish Tank volume), 1:1 is the optimum!

If i have to form ammonia naturally i have to add the fish 1st right?

grow beds are the filter in this case. we use additional compost worms in the beds to break down the solids. sump is not necessary because it's a simple flood & drain system and no CHOP construction.
