I am amazed at the amount of floor plans and personalities RVs have to offer. I know we all would like something bigger, better crafted, more whistles and bells and just more than what we need, but there will always be something that will do and possibly be loved over the years. Thanks Josh for showing us just about everything out there and being honest about it.
The love\hate of those chairs might be generational. I'm early in my sixth decade, I see retro MCM Eames-inspired looks. Nice to look at stylistically, but probably not all that comfortable. Flexible usage for sure, but that's some expensive patio furniture.
I have one of these.... Pro: Pull with 1/2 ton Tundra with airbags. Flat floor with no tire hump. I can fit a Kawasaki KRX SXS in it. Nice patio. Plenty of sleep room. I never have used that rear couch bed. If you need to sleep 6 not your rv. Do use the reclining chairs all the time. Con: No oven (like my biscuits and could care less about a microwave hot pocket). No patio stairs. 12v fridge (caused me to add several solar panels). No outside storage door. There is plenty of space to have one because under the bed there is a ton of room. It is taken up by the water hose hookup that could have been easily placed in another location. I moved my 3 batteries (lithium) under the bed location and replaced the old battery location with a tongue box for the hoses/cords and the normal rv stuff. An easy work around but should have been thought of by a designer. In the most part it does what I need it to do. These are made to haul the toy and sit and enjoy the outdoors. Probably not suited for the people that like to use their rv like a home, and relax indoors.
I was looking into this model to haul my KRX, I’m glad you can get yours to fit. How much room did you have between the walls? I’m currently 77” wide because of my wheels, looking to get that back down to 70” wide using method wheels 5+2.
This has great possibilities for those who do traveling sales like antique dealers or lots of fairs and even like concerts. you have 5k worth of cargo and then you have a green room/break room with you instead of just having a 6x12 enclosed trailer.
I love it, so much flexibility! Could easily add an office in there! However, I hate the dark wood cabinetry, and wish there were a campsite window in the Murphy bed area. But overall, it’s great!
I would have liked to see a window on the door side of the RV for the bed, if for instance you ear a commotion outside, you could simply peek through the window from your bed without having to wrestle yourself out of it. The Murphy bed is a good idea on paper to allow a function which is nice to have if you need, but if you don’t need is completely fine not to use. However with the layout, the separation of seating is a little awkward and the sofa kind of feels like it’s at the end of a hallway.
Great work always improving and doing more, such as adding the measurements of the interior in your floor plan photo. The hard work is noticed and appreciated! As are the puns!
Generally speaking, it is a cool camper. I do still wish the exhaust fans were Maxx Air fans standard and also a 2nd bench that can become a bed. An optional patio set with mesh walls for insects would be great as well. I don't expect this to have all the features more expensive TH have but exterior shower should be standard in every single RV. Thanks for explaining about manufacturers that prohibit publishing discounted prices. I normally hate when dealers ask you to call to find out the "best price". I usually think it is a scam to get your info and try hard selling techniques on the potential buyer.
Thank for everything you do! Love the movable chairs! Don't love the metal legs on the bench. ❤ Love, love, love the drop-down bunk bed!!! ❤ Love the screen wall I appreciate the Tetris style bed/bath layout giving the rest of the RV room, but I think crawling over the bed will get old. I wish manufacturers would make a murphy bed that does not require a bending mattress. 🐙
The murphy bed makes this RV fairly comfortable for people who can’t leave their homes without their toys😊but if you don’t have toys, then a traditional RV floorplan offers a 10 times more comfortable and livable experience👍👍👍
I'm a fan of these toy hauler hybrids. There's a lot of ways you can set them up and it's easy to change them. Plus, it's good to have a guarantee of an outdoor place you can fit a table and chairs in that's not a mudhole. Steps would be nice, but you can always grab some from somewhere. I really like that murphy bed. It saves space and you can fit a lot more cargo in. Clambering in doesn't bother me. Putting in a proper mattress and fans would be my first order of business. I can't blame the industry for not replacing fart fans with full sized ones, but I wish they would. I'm also a big fan of free standing tables, especially height adjustable. Not sure how sold I am on those free floating chairs, but they're easily replaced. That bench might get ditched, either for more cargo room, storage, or a desk. You can always bring alone more chairs, and inflatable mattresses are better beds, anyway. Regarding the stove, 2 burner fore and aft over 3 burner. I'd rather pay a little extra and get the counter space. You can never fit three pots or pans, anyway. I don't get the double grey tanks; the bathroom and kitchen area are next to each other. I heartily second angling that toilet. I don't know how that got out design like that. Height is nice, not even having to stick your head into a skylight to take a shower. I do think they should've put -some- outside storage for the hookup stuff. Some can fit in that docking station, I guess. Make sure the bins you use for the rest seal up tight and don't leak, and hope you don't need a longer sewer hose than the tube can handle. Maybe weld a box behind the propane tanks. Manufacturers should ditch outdoor speakers for bluetooth. The fewer places water can get in, the better, and everyone seems to wind up using bluetooth speakers even when the trailer has them built in, anyway. Overall, I like it a lot and there are no dealbreakers.
Oh, interesting point - I will be leaving both the recliners at home for this trip. We've found that some Sam's club plastic folding chairs suit our needs. We might take one because they are nice and I do use them - but when we bring four dogs, three kids, two parents, and a partridge in a pear tree, the extra space is key. And its nice to have that flex. Pretty sure I'll be leaving both of them home though. I think that's something to note.
Love the euro chairs, and the complete screen wall! I have rarely found an rv that there is nowhere for a tv????? Believe it or not, it's a real deal breaker for some! Thanks for all you do!!!!
I agree 2 burner. No oven. Convection microwave oven instead..no couch bed in the back. Toy haulers need. Gas pumps 20 gallons. Storage upper height for tools. Power 110 in the back by the door increase solar panels.Don't need storage. Totes under trailer. Extra tables for outside store under UTV inside when driving. Don't need options 90 percent you are outside. 10% sleeping.
I love this toy hauler and I agree that a 2 burner stove would be nice. I wish the mattress wasn't visible when it's folded up, and I wish there was a fiberglass option. The lack of outside storage is a deal breaker I don't want some things sitting outside when I unload due to thiefs and bad weather.
Hey Josh. So I like a toy hauler because there is so much more living space. Maybe do a video of a small trailer that has a lot of living and sleeping space.
Neat little trailer! Random thought, I miss the handy man special videos you used to do. Those were always entertaining, and you seemed to have fun recording them.
I’d like to see a breeze through window on the kitchen side to help with air flow when you can’t have the back opened up in patio mode. In an ideal world of course.
I like the beds in the cargo area, disappointed in the lack of oven, storage in/out and the separate tank plumbing. Thank you for showing all the details, pros/cons. Hopefully some smaller toy haulers will keep popping up. You requested an octopus emoji so here you go: 🐙
Need a toy hauler with couple bed tip outs like the Roo. With a tip out you won't loose as much interior space like a slide does. But it will make the interior feel so much bigger.
I think this would have been a great contender for a 1st time RV for my family. It doesn’t do anything great, but does a lot of things well. It allows you room for a family and enough beds for everyone. No slides, but large enough not to need any. Able to load everything you need through the ramp. My first trailer was a FR Cascade 18TO, I would have preferred something like this instead. Not sure how I feel about the awning lights, if you can turn them on/off individually then it might be the way to go moving forward. That way it can be used as a awning (outside gathering) light and as a porch light (we’ll leave the light on for you).
Id like. Wood cabinet Murphy bed with big screen on when closed. Double sink. Inductive cook top. Pizza size microwave. Less glary countertop. Same size table as countertop. Full surround sound.
Ok..I like this Floorplan. It reminds me of the Attitude 20FB-LE. Great idea. Things I wish it had: solid state steps going into the trailer, a soft backdoor cover like my Salem FSX 190RTX (this way you don't have everyone looking in at night if you want to keep the patio down), some storage under the front bed, and the 2 burner stove. Does anyone really use all 3 burners at once? Other than that, I love this layout. I may be able to fit a Can Am and a sidecar motorcycle inside. Oh, and I wish it was light wood, but I think Momentums always use the dark wood.
I believe that cargo capacity is the highest I've ever seen. Kitchen storage isn't bad. Def not for me. That bed would be a pain, to either dress to get into and out of and somewhat claustrophobic, kinda like a standard RV bunk bed. But that garage area has a lot of potential as a mobile office, studio or business.
I love it.... except for not having an oven..... The microwave should be at least a convection oven Microwave for that kind of Money IMO.... Thanks for Sharing Josh!
Nice video. Seems like a pretty neat unit. With the single bench, it could still have dining for 4 with the free floating seats. Metal siding, long term doesn’t delaminate, is easier to repair, and painted metal seems to retain its gloss longer than fiberglass.
@@JoshtheRVNerd I kind of wonder if someone could build an aluminum foam block insulated frame, skinned in Azdel and metal siding. Seems like if you get metal siding it’s either a low end unit, or all metal astronomical priced rig.
🇺🇸 *LOVE the flexible nature of this floor plan* !! *This 22MAV has a Murphy bed and a better high bed* !! *FAB options for different people* !! #JoshTheRVNerdAtBishsRV 🇺🇸
very cool one, more toy space than many much bigger ones, a murphy bed that can be left down at all times or put out of the way if need more seating or storage space.... am wondering where you put a tv ... on the table?.. no matter, it would work. is the reason i like this kind of unit, all that space can pretty much do what you want with.
Entertaining as always. Thank you. I think I might have preferred that odd space in front of the bathroom to have been incorporated into the bathroom, maybe for the toilet, then have the storage area moved back by the fridge where it’s easier to access. I guess there’s a reason for it being the way it is though.
I think somone said it already but would like a window up front where the murphy bed is. Would also like to see units like this offer slide for the kitchen area. I don't seem to see that very often or even at all. In the market for a bigger camper and a toy hauler would be nice but want the extra width a slide out offers.
I love the recliners, nobody else can put their elbows on YOUR armrest lol. The screen is great I'm a burner and I don't like bugs lol. I really like the flexibility of the table. I'm not a huge fan, as I don't really like the kitchen, the storage is lacking. If there's 5 of you in that van it would be really cramped. I think a few surfers who plan to spend all day in the water, eating at a fire pit would be great twinned with this one #nerdherd #rvnerdherd
I need an oven in my camper. Sunday morning, cinnamon rolls don't cook in a microwave. I'd sacrifice cabinet space over the stove for a microwave and put an oven in place.
Interesting. I like the layout. But, there is no storage. Forget the outside - putting the totes under the skirt is a great idea. But how do you keep them from walking away? And the easy sleeping capacity is 4 adults, with maybe 5th on the bench. Where do you put the clothes? Double up the drawers? I like the kitchen. I agree, a 2 burner would be better. I like the idea of having space on the right side of the stove. The microwave is in the perfect place, or at least better (in my opinion!) than an overhead one. Much easier to clean, and it leaves more space for overhead storage instead of having a giant hole under the stove. I like that it's stick and tin too, I'd be able to put coat hooks up so one of the chairs didn't become the coat closet. I'm not a fan of the bed, it seems a little claustrophobic. Hopefully there is at least a plug in the cubby to charge the phone overnight? Not the one for me. 🐙🐙🍺🍺🦑🤼🚑🏥🩺💊🚪🚔🥴🛌 A couple of octopus walk into a bar. They have a couple of drinks. Then one says I saw your mom swimming with a squid. They start to wrestle, it get pretty heated. They end up having to be taken to the hospital, where they were examined and given some pain med. Heading to the door like the good drunken buddies they are, the police arrive and take them to the station so they can sleep it off.
I was checking out a camper with that manual pull down bed and it did not work smoothly. Pulling the center strap and it got wonky. Had to put down the patio to straighten it out. PITA for sure.
The lack of outside storage is unacceptable. Outside storage stores hitches, hoses, electrical cords, and the like. Those dirty things do not belong inside a trailer. Furthermore, the garbage ceiling fans need to be swapped for some Fantastic Fans or equivalent. The mattress, of course, needs to be replaced immediately with one that won't cripple a person for life. Finally, the bed placement itself makes it difficult to properly put on traditional bedding, as three sides are WALL. I have an RV with an 80 x 60 mattress that has only one side open, and I have to do a full gymnastic routine to get that bed made. What I like are the large holding tanks, the open space, the movable furniture, and the back screen. But it is not enough to overcome the cons I have pointed out. It has potential for some people, though. It's perfect for hauling e bikes, motorcycles, and the like.
IMHO (which my wife says means nothing) I think all toyhaulers need some sort of offgrid capability. You're not taking your sideby to a KOA. Yes of course an external generator is a thing. But having at least some rudimentary solar with inverter would help!
I am going to go look at one of these in person this week. I have decided that a Grey Wolf 18RR meets my basic needs, and am now looking at all of the similar sized toy haulers before I make my final choice. The salesman is going to have to do some convincing on this MAV 22 when you compare it feature to feature with the 2024 18RR.
For what it’s worth that’s kinda like comparing an explorer or an expedition. Expedition/Mav might be great but hard to justify the cost when an explorer/grey wolf is all you need if that makes sense
@@JoshtheRVNerd , yes, that makes sense Josh. Except both the Explorer and Expedition have similar build quality. I am wondering if the MAV 22 has superior build quality. At the pricing I am finding they are $5000 to $7000 apart in price. I’m not in a rush. I want to buy what I can use the next 10 years.
That back screen is full useless if you plan to use the porch at all. The screens with the flap/split magnetic door is much better. Also prevents kids from walking right into it and no door. If this had a 3 seasons bifold wall, that would make this perfect.
Hi Josh! Can this RV have a twin bed instead? And instead of the high bed, couch and two chairs, is it possible to get more storage space, a washer/dryer hookup and a convection oven?
Thanks for the video, Josh! This may be the first toy hauler we would give serious consideration. Question: why don't RV manufacturers use drawer-style microwave ovens when mounting below the counter? We're a tall family and would hate bending over to use the controls.
I really like this. I have a 2006 Keystone Hobbi 220 which was one of the first "hybrid" toy haulers. I really enjoy it, but I'm always on the look out for a modern replacement for it. My one question with this one though... where does the TV go? I didn't see a TV mount anywhere. Also, the $40k price tag for this was a bit shocking.
Josh, we love your videos, thank you so much! Do you know of any toy haulers where the back end goes up to the outside effectively acting like a canopy? That would be a great feature! (At least I think so, I’ve only ever had a pop up.)
@JoshtheRVNerd it towed great. With the hitch weight, you are correct, need a 3/4 ton truck. I don't think people really understand the capability difference between them and a 1/2 ton
Just imagine if they took the patio area out and put the bathroom in its place with a nice huge square tub/shower with a corner seat, then they could enlarge the bedroom! And also place the microwave in A PROPER place!
Hi without an oven the microwave should be convection.at least U can bake Ur biscuits for the gravy ,or make fries . And U really need to have some type of stairs for the deck. As always good job nerd. 🐙
Ok I commented on this earlier. Liked the design. Question to the owners. Where do you put your sewer hose necessities, tools, etc, and all the utility items a person would normally store in the pass through storage?
It's been a minute since I went thru one of these but I think these had a belly tube for sewer stuff. if not, then it's easily added But it's definitely lacking outside storage which is a challenge. You'd almost need to have a system of totes for things
Winner winner>> almost a steak dinner? What kind of hot water heater? gas/electric insta-hot tankless hot water heater maybe? Definitely like the fold out step. Better than the fold up/in stable step for a toy hauler. Max vent in the bath at least. And is it 50amp or 30amp ? Thanks NERD ✌ GOD bless America 🇺🇲
Gas/Elec Water heater with dual-use fast recharge function for just under 18gal of hot water per hour. The 22mav shown here is 30amp only the 27mav is 50amp standard
I wish someone would make this is a azdel exterior. I'm just not sold on the stick and tin durability. The tank holding is great, the lack of 4 season ability is a minus. I'd like to make it a better boondocker but I'm just not willing to put much money into upgraded lights, batteries, and a front compartment like an Ember, without some better 'bones'. Thanks for something different.
I would think that the tow vehicle will need extended tow mirrors. Also, while on the highway, the trailer may just barely fit between the lane lines, and that would mean that the driver would need to pay special attention to sticking in his lane without causing an accident.
I know those have been around a while. Weirdly I've never had much of a chance to go thru them. I've often heard folks happy with them though. How has yours treated you?
Er, maybe we will just stick to the positive and say the floorplan worked really well for my family, LOL. I may reach out to Bish's to see if they want to buy it in the spring. I did buy a new trailer from Bish's a few months back. @@JoshtheRVNerd
I would encourage you to use specific towing and payload ratings while shopping “Half ton towable” is the widest range of things out there. Most will get bossed around the road with a trailer like this once loaded 3/4 is the better general recommendation but SOME half tons may do the job A lot of places will just say “half ton? Sure! Give me your money and let’s go”
Why can't they make a real murphy bed instead of a mattress that folds up? It's exactly what I'm looking for, but probably over priced and not a lot of extra features like an outside shower or an outside kitchen. I like that it has a finished stainless steel look instead of a plastic faucet. Why is there the 3 span storage there if you can reach it without crawling on the bed or the couch?
I have two minor dislikes. I’d prefer a cargo/ramp screen that opens vertically rather than a pull down, and a window at the bed area. I NEED fresh air to sleep😊
@@JoshtheRVNerd have a jayco 236th and find myself needing the 3rd burner. Even if I just need two pans I find it hard on the two burners to have them centered over the burner if you are using two full size pans. Easier with a 3 burner. Also like having the oven. We do not eat out though.
Let’s give some azdel and truma love. Make it under 5000lb dry and 8000lb gvwr. Sell them like hot cakes. Not everyone wants 3/4ton and up in their life…
I cant for the life of me understand why I'm seeing more and more "toy haulers" without a fueling station!? The whole reason for a toy hauler is to condense your setup into one thing. Yeah i could throw 6 jerry cans in the truck box, but with the price of these things climbing it seems they're slowly removing things that were standard to see what they can get away with and we'll keep buying 😒
Ummm. There is a lot about this I DON'T like. I will not waste your time but I think they need to rethink this. I see what they are trying to do, but methinks they are trying too much. Just my personal opinion.
