oK .... YOU have officially made me feel better. Sometimes I wonder how I come off here but I am older now so I don't give a f*ck as long as I get the info out. Thanks for letting me know I might be on the right track.
@@Dirtydeborahharry I just got my skates three days ago i learned everything from you :) i can skate in small spaces i was wondering how i can do turns thank you so much love your videos
Thank you. It's my routine to work on balance for ten minutes before a session. I feel that this helps my control and is making me a better skater This video is important as most of us don't focus on the basics; so no, you're not boring us
I'm in quarantine and this is what I was looking for! I've been skating inside my house since the quarantine started. Now I'm practicing balance. Thanks for this great video Dirty!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Greetings from Argentina🇦🇷
Hello Scotland! Thank you so much. Sometimes people are just looking for action and I LOVE details and essential skating skills ... at least that is what I love teaching because it unlocks everything :)
Dirty School of Skate I agree, the details and basic skills are so important. Please keep these videos coming, they are so useful, and you make anything sound fun!👍🏻 Hey, and while you’re at it, any tips on overcoming the fear of falling for the ‘maturer’ skater like myself ☺️ (well, ‘middle-aged’, actually! 😉) would be really helpful. I would also like to know your opinion on wearing padding, especially for skating outside? I’ve got knee, wrist & elbow pads, but should I get padded trousers too? Cheers! 🌪💫
Here's a message from my 7 year old son, Gryphon: "I love your channel! I'm learning how to skate. you are my favorite skate video teacher. thank you!"
Awwww yeah! Tell Gryphon that I am filming a video about kids. Tell him to make sure to watch it because I will do a shout out to him :) What city do you live in?
@@byronpushkin Gryphon, that is a really cool name! You never hear that name. My daughter is 6 months pregnant and her first born son is 5 years old. He wants her to name the coming baby Navigator! I don't know where he came up with that name. But, I'm beginning to agree with him. My daughter said, no way, but we are working on her. Lol
@@jimbobaggans1564 I LOVE that name! I'm all about instilling curiosity in my kids and I think Navigator really embodies that quality. Plus, it's got some cute nickname potential: Navi and Gator!
Diiirrtttyyy!!! I hope you're doing well. I know I sound like a broken record, But I Mean IT. You and your videos are the bright, amazing spot in my day, especially now. Thank you So Very Much!! Sending gobs of love and hugs to you.
Thanks for trying to keep us skaters sane. 🥰 LOVE your sweater poncho! I am 52 and you are inspiring me to do new things. Been skating since I was a kid but as I got older I just want to stay upright. Lol. So I need to be careful. Stay safe all!
Yvonne! Good for you girl! You keep right on skating for as long as you can. I know I am! I just turned 70 a few months ago, so don't let anyone tell you that yer too old to be doing that! I just keep the Aleve handy. Lol
When I returned to skating after almost 40 years, i was very surprised that the most difficulty I was having was balance. This is such a surprise to me because I am very athletic in very in shape but was very challenged by balancing while skating. Its amazing how balance is really in a category of its own.
This is great! I’ve been skating in my garage with my daughter. We need this! That terminology “counterbalance” is very helpful when you think about it. When doing the leg up exercise, I’ll remember that! Also, “heel, toe, heel toe” when spinning. Got it! I’m wearing Impalas on the garage concrete. Will that work for these practices? ❤️ from Alabama
After watching all of your videos and mulling over the idea of starting to skate, I finally bought my first pair of skates this morning!!! I can’t wait til they arrive! I’m going to practice all these exercises in my kitchen and on my front porch daily!!! (Gotta get my protective gear first because I know I’m going to fall multiple times), that’s to be expected. I’m so happy that I finally bought my skates after being too fearful to start for the few weeks! Thank you for being such an awesome instructor!!! Love watching your videos!!!
Yup, been practicing all throughout my apartment, during "L0CKD0WN". My spins are getting nice and tighT 'cause I'm worK'n wiT' limiTed space. 15 minuTes a daY. I can feeL and see the difference alreadY. Wow!!! Thanks for the spin tutorial...!!! 0Ld sKooL sk8er aka LEGACY
Send a video of you skating as a simple attachment to dirtyschoolofskate@gmail.com. No audio necessary. Film in landscape. I will put you in our "Home Skate" montage #2 video on RU-vid!
I have just brought my first pair of skates because of you 😍 I have never skated in my life and watching your videos to learn how! You are excellent!! Following all the way from England ❤
Dirty Deb really does have the best personality. In April I saved up for my first pare of skates and she has truly taught me a lot i always go to her videos to learn stuff about skating. Thanks a lot.
Yeah...nope! I can't do those OFF skates. NO balance. My gymnastics coaches realized that when I was young. I was never allowed on the beam. Too many broken wrists and twisted/sprained ankles as I'd fall off. Yet....I can skate....and do those things while on skates. I don't understand why. LOL Umm...and loving the gold Stardust! Considered those (in blue), but my youngest and I went for the Prism's instead. Middle child did go for the black sparkle, though - the low-top version of those - in black. She loved them until she got her Vanilla's...but she still uses the Sure-Grips - for outdoor use now.
she's so fun to watch! I'm going to get roller skates tomorrow so I'm watching tutorials today. I've been watching her for three hours now and I did not get bored once, she's a great teacher!
what wonderful exercises! please upload more videos like this! I'm a new skater and I'm trying to improve my skating skills every day, but it's not possible sometimes to have outside training ( I'm mostly training bubbles and plow stop) and I was looking for exercises that I could do inside e house. Perhaps a video just about the edges, how they work (what move happens if we press them), and some exercises to develop more body conscience about them (I'm doing bubbles a lot, but I'm wondering if there more exercises for beginners). I would like to thank you sooo much, your videos are real gold. There is a lot of " roller skate tutorial" on youtube, but there is no deep explanation there. on the other hand, your videos gave me the confidence and real ground to learn and develop myself.
NOCA Locked down at the moment in NZ and only have the garage to practice in, I am practicing an hour each day. I have only ever been a novice skater so thanks for the great techniques, so far I am doing stuff today I could not do yesterday. You demos and tutorials are increadably good, please keep the videos coming!
Great, thank you for these tips! I need to practice my balance. As for skating in my kitchen, already there. 8ft of snow (Fairbanks Alaska) not going out to the rink, even if it was open. Love watching your smile👍💖
❤️❤️❤️ out of all the videos ive seen on small space skating. This is the best. Thank you so much, this is what beginners need to start with from the off. Not forward, backward or stop. Just this xxxx
Start with one revolution. Go both directions. Build up to 2 and then 3 etc. Always count in between spins. With practice the "dizzy spell" will be lessened.
Thanks for the tips, I'll try this exercises into my kitchen, because well... In Belgium, the winter and the rain don't allow me to practise outside and with the covid, all classes are suspended. So, thankfully, you are here and so generous to share your skills with us :D
I love your videos, I’m new to skating and I been binge watching your videos and practicing, every time I end with a massive lower back and knee pain😅 is it normal or am I doing something wrong?
Hey Dirty Deb, I am here in the UK and oh my goodness. Thank you! The way you teach is so interactive and it keep me so focused. Thank you! I wanted to ask you, would you ever consider translating these videos into Spanish? In order to reach out to a further audience...? Would you like help doing so? I am native in both and can translate it fluidly with all the colloquial aspects in Spanish...Id love to help you...if you want to do that of course!! Thank you for these videos, thank you for your amaziig and electric energy. I look forward to your videos and energy daily...hence why I think some others would benefit too! YOure fabulous! GOD BLESS YOU> THANK YOU
I'm so thankful I found you!! I've haven't skated in over 20 yrs ,I'm 40 ,lol ,and decided to take up skating again , you are teaching & helping me so much!! AND my balance is awful, lol ,thank you so much for all your help!!!
I don't know when my skates will arrive, all I do know is that I'd love to roller skate outside. However, I'm absolutely TERRIFIED of some slight downhill and not being able to stop. There's just enough space in my kitchen/living room to skate a very very tiny bit, so... I'm so happy for this video! Gotta learn the basics before trying anything more!
Thanks for your videos Deb just started skating again last year after my mom died after 38 years I used to skate disco skating in the 80s I was pleasantly surprised that I still got it even after all those years so I've been skating indoors in my living room cuz I really miss the rink thanks again for the encouragement
Thank you so much, it is so helpful! We are now in the second extended lockdown, and there is snow + minus 40 Fahrenheit outside. Time to practise indoors ... :-) greetings from Bavaria (Germany)
Deb, I have a question! When I try to do scissors my legs can glide out, but it’s really difficult for me to bring them back in! When I go up with my gut, I stop in my tracks. Help!! 💕
Thank you for helping build my confidence to skate after having my knee replaced (2yrs now). Thank you can’t wait for y’all to open up again🥰 we were there at the end of February before the state closed last year ☹️
I just got my skates yesterday, quick question: is it inhibiting to practice on carpeted floors? I ask because i have never done this before and being on the wood flooring honestly scares me (feels like i'm gonna fall face first and break my teeth)
Happy New Year ! My New Year's resolution is to skate every day in 2022 ! It's gonna be my 6th day today so I am at the very beginning but I am determined and you are a great teacher !
Dirty Deb, I am going to ask my husband if he will build me an outdoor rolling area that is going to be about 12 x12 feet. Is this big enough to skate on? I am 48 years old and relearning how to skate. But I want to do it so badly.
Just started skating in December and was hitting the rink six days a week, I miss it terribly! Thanks so much for this and all your videos, you are awesome!!!
Laid off work for the time being but when I can afford them, I'm buying my own pair of skates and will skate in my kitchen if i have to. Luckily we have oak floors. Thanks for adding good vibes to the web!
Thanks for this! I look forward to more videos. Your videos are a bright spot in the week! And I can’t wait to work on these tricks you showed. I just ordered so Radar Varsity wheels (98a, 57mm) wheels- hoping they’re gonna be good for jam/dance/indoor. Do you think they’ll work on hardwood and smooth asphalt/concrete for jam/dance/etc??????
I love you but I'm super jealous you have access to a rink. Man, I can't wait for this to be over. I'm like an addict having withdrawals. I'm getting angry because I can't do what I love 😞.
Hello, I skate at Roller Kingdom RENO though am moving to a Palm Springs and there is no rink in the Coachella Valley ..... I’m crushed. 63 yrs young and if you know of a rink that might be close.
I love your channel soooo much , well I love you to be more specific lol.. I hope to meet u one day if I ever make it skating out of my house 😂 and can get to cali
NOT TODAY SATAN! Lol. Been skating back and forth across my hallway. Started three weeks ago watching your vids and making good progress. Still struggling w strong strides on janky asphalt. Thanks Deb!!
Dirtyyyy I love these videos giving me more things to practice and keep me active even with everything going on. I look forward to watching these and I was wondering if you have a video for the circle where the legs are like “cowboy legs” (lol that’s the best way I can describe it) the knees are out and your body moves through the circle laterally? You are an amazing teacher! Thank you for being so helpful to me and so many others who watch your channel!!!
Dirty School of Skate yes! I think that’s it! 🤣 I have been working so hard to be able to do it but I’m still struggling. Helppppp meeee pleaseeeee! 🙏🏼💞
Great video. How do you decide which skates to buy. Should you have more than one type? Is there a versatile one for indoor and out that is strong enough to take jumps maybe (lol..when I learn how....i am a beginner..have not been n on skate for 20 years)
