Thanks for the continuing quality reviews! I'm not much of a commentor, but I will say that you are not only *a* resource for me, but my *only* trusted resource!
thanks for that but i have say im not alone in being honest but almost without exception all the other honest ones that i am 100% sure of are all small channels below 100k.
Not a waste of space mate, this review was v. helpful. Was close to buying the bogasing and had no idea about the Anker (which sounded better during the comparison)
I’m late to the party I know. But Alan Ross uploaded. EVERYONE STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING!!! Another fantastic video as always. Watched the whole thing through, the Boost >>>>> the other 2 speakers (imo) The other 2 ain’t terrible honestly, just not my sound signature.
360° speakers seem to be on the rise with the release of the Soundcore Motion X600 and now the Bogasing M5. Not to say they are the first of their kind by any stretch but more of a rarity until recently. The M5 is definitely an interesting consideration but probably one I'll pass on. Your extensive testing and detailed analysis is always appreciated (as always) though. Thank you for another excellent review and comparison, Alan! 😁👍👏
the x600 isnt what i call a 360 speaker, that being where it sounds very similar or meant to be listened to at all angles. The drivers for the x600 fire forward and up while m5 fires backwards and forwards
Hi Alan. In your opinion are the bass drivers better located(exposed) like on the JBL flip 6 or the bass drivers on something like the Tribit maxsound plus? Cheers
Hi Alan - Greetings from Singapore. Thanks for the detailed review. i have 4 questions: 1. Do you know the battery capacity (mAh) and the battery type (is it 21700 or 18650?) 2. What is the texture or material of this Bogasing M5? Rubber feel? Long term will it turns sticky? 3. The front grill is it made of metal like the Soundcore Motion +, long term expose to outdoor for mine, it develops rust patches. 4. Do you think with a single M5 is it good enough for my outdoor workout in a stadium located near expressway. I tried full volume on my previous Motion +, i still feel the sound is quite soft. Thank you.
The boost sounds so amazing for its size. I have two of them for long time, amazing thing Edit: at moderate volumes, i like it more than the tribit blast
The MaxSound Plus has enough bass for me, and it's tuning sounds more on the neutral side to my ears rather than bright. It's also my favorite speaker out of all the ones you've placed on the table.
Didn't sound too bad, and I like the fact it has lower latency and aux. If i hadn't just bought the Flex I'd consider it. But the Boost is without equal at this size and price point imo. Currently £39.99, ridiculous value! Having to physically restrain myself from buying another 😂 Although I would be interested to see how 2 x Boosts compare vs 2 x similar speakers. I've got 2 x Uboom L and the lack of bass is disappointing.
apparently there is no lack of bass on the Uboom, you just dont know how to listen 🤣🤣 i did some videos of a pair of boosts in the past im pretty sure.
I just got one and trying out the sound modes it doesn’t actually say what colour is what mode I take it you have colour coded it for us? So green is bass mode?
I wanted a small travel amp for my guitar. Using an effects pedal (Mooer Prime P2), I tested a dozen Bluetooth speakers, but using the AUX input. This turned out to be the best. Granted, not the most detailed BT speaker out there, but seemed to have the least processing. Some of the amps compressed the guitar signal so much it lost all dynamics, and some incredibly had delay via the AUX in! I could not detect any compression or delay on the M5, and the guitar just sounded great. Plenty of tone & volume (kept on MAX). Also default 3D setting sounded best. Sent my Spark Go back....no competition!
I’ve been researching different speakers since my old one stopped charging (Exibel BNX100). I’m going out of my mind trying to choose one. What do you recommend? I’m in the UK and will to spend max £60. Something similar to my old one would be perfect - I can’t get hold of it as it was from Clas Ohlson. Thank you
How did you test the latency of the Bogasing M5? I recently purchased one as guitar monitor, but I can defenitely hear a latency of 10ms, maybe 20 ms. Do I need to activate a special setting?
You need to send the same click track to two devices, so you can hear the offset. I used the metronome of a digital piano with two headphones out, connected to a true zero latency device (Roland Mobile AC) as reference and the M5. You will perceive the latency as echo on the click.
@@stenschreiber4260 yes but im doing a measurement, how would you measure that? my resolution is 16ms, anything below that would show as zero which for lipsync would be fine. im measuring usage for streaming services.
@@stenschreiber4260 @stenschreiber4260 Just to be clear, you are connected via a wired connection to the Roland and bogasing and saying you hear a 10ms delay? Measured via a metronome?? 🤔
Hey Alan, what would be your recommendation for the best portable (travel size) speaker? I was considering Bose Soundlink Flex but your video on that is a year old and I was wondering if you had something newer and better.
@@alanrossreviews i just watched ur comparison review between the bose flex and the A1 first gen. It seems the bose wins that matchup except the A1 is more detailed with a significant less mid bass. Im into hip hop and value good warm bass but also would not like thinness in terms of the mids and highs, would like detail…and so would the b&o a1 and denon 250bt be your recommendations?
@@LordSebz it comes down to what size you want, even the soundcore boost can do a job, but for size its hard to beat the a1, denon maybe the nicest of all but has that battery discharge issue.
Hi Alan , would you suggest the M5 for video watching and gaming over other similar priced speakers as i noticed the video/audio latency on the boost v2 straight away i also thought the boost had too much bass vibration, would this be a better option for me as I plan to mess with the EQ on windows no matter what speaker I get , I may even get 2 and stand them, I tried the motion+ aswell but that but was out of my price range and I thought the lower bass was awful the bluetooth latency was also bad , any other suggestions on somethingthats similar in look to this or the boost price wise for good video latency and potentially get 2 or would this be able as good as I could get with the added bonus of an aux , great videos and any response 🙂
I'll be using as my pc speaker on windows with BT 5.3 if the latency is good or aux if needed and using SoundFX to make any changes to the EQ Apologies I missed typed about the Motion plus I thought I was still talking about the boost which was noticeable on videos sync the latency was fine on the plus I borrowed however its slightly out of my budget I found it to be quite large to where I wanted it under my monitor found the lower bass so much worse than the boost, i could get 2x m5s for even cheaper than the m+ atm, I just wish the soundcore boost V2 still had an aux or BT with no latency It would of been perfect for me
400hz-4khz can be the majority of vocals, so I agree with you 100% The fact they call it vocal mode yet have such a dip between 4khz-6khz is comical really. Definitely no good for playing Aled Jones - Walking In The Air 😂And jeez that Mifa & Maxsound sound awful while listening to this on my motion boom!
yeah i dont know why they bother, its not even a podcast mode. just make it something between 3d mode and bass mode and i think a lot of people would be much happier. Aled Jones, thats not a name you hear everyday outside of church 😁😁
@@alanrossreviews I'm more showing my age than my religion as I can't think of any other soprano getting up that high, not even female 😂And I tested, he's mainly around 2k-3k, the 4k-6k is just sprinkle, but they still add up to make the overall vocal experience, so even not having the highest pitched voice means this speaker simply doesn't deliver on a vocals promise, no speaker can, it's too wide a range of frequencies, which is why I am always amazed at software that can strip vocals from music, you must lose some frequencies in the process.
does it actually have a left and right channel? As in stereo? If so, I think I might be inclined to stand it on end passives down with the left driver pointed left and the right pointed to the right. Perhaps sitting in a corner of the room. 🤔
Mr Alan, greetings I'm. Checking up the bogasing now, looks good they are going to the still of marshall speakers. Design ❤. Nice job as always my friend
REALLY GOOD VIDEO. 👍♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ You should really do a video Comparison Video with the Walmart Speaker: Onn Medium Speaker 2nd Gen, and also the Onn Large Speaker 2nd Gen. The wattage/power rating in them are really good. 👍♥️
Mmmh I've been wondering how it compares to the M4 Also what would the frequency response look like when listening to it sideways (that is with the right side facing right and the left facing the left, with you facing the short side), I assume the high frequencies would roll off and make it sound less bright? I was looking at it, I own a Motion Boom for loudness, a Flex for sound quality and a Wonderboom 3 for a leaner sound and use on the beach and places where I wouldn't the Flex to be ruined, also use it for podcasts and voice centric content. I was thinking the M5 would be a decent add to my "collection" but your opinion is extremely important to me ngl.
@alanrossreviews Hi Alan, I have just started watching the channel and great review! I am off on holiday tomorrow and was wondering whether you’d recommend the M4 or the M5 as a portable speaker?
Today I bought the Marshall Middleton in the color cream if you set the bass to 10 and the treble to 9 it sounds really good and it also looks great great speakers
Thought the wildrod was going 2b the screechiest out of all, did it improve, i wonder how it stands against the uboom L :eyes: jk no need 2do that. The m5 really has this cheap feel to it kinda like the m4 but lacks something more here.. like bass, but more importantly refinement, for this price there are def better alternatives, this is also anker m+ territory pricepoint (well when discounted thoe) so either you just want this for 360º functionallity or else just get something else(decent) really.
@@alanrossreviews haha thanks for clarifying, indeed also the uboom is already an in between this and m+. I am doing okayish, lots of work, university bs but yeah life must go on.
@@alanrossreviews I`ve read a few german text reviews by renowned magazines, and they all rate the XG300 higher than its predecessor XB43, and on a similar level as the xtreme 3 (yet the sony is cheaper, looks better and has more extra features like EQ setting on the device, light ect); yet there is one youtuber who said it sounds worse than the xb43... Anyways none of those reviewers give such detailed information as you do... Right now I have 2 XB33, but Im thinking of upgrading to either XG300 or XB43... The XE200/300 got very mixed reviews, soms say its crap an dsoundsmuffled, soem sy it sounds clear and nice...but people seem to agree that the XE300 sounds different than most other speakers somehow, so it mmight be interesteng to analize where this comes from..
New track Alan ft Ross - Arrow through the head Nice track indeed😂 Hard to find any detailed reviewer these days, i really appreciate your good detailed works Still going strong on my Motion Boom, if i'm to go lower for a more portable speaker, I'd go with the boost, i'm a bass head, can't do without those good bass, if i may ask what speaker of Motion boom size with same deep bass, loudness and a clarity of motion plus can one get at a reasonable price, Motion boom is too amazing on that deep bass, loudness, average clarity at that size & price but i need more clarity, with your profound experience, what bt speaker do you suggest?
@@alanrossreviews Lol, all in one portable package pound for pound has become a 'do or die affair'😅 Nevertheless if size & price can be compromised, which one will you suggest then? I need that deep bass & high clarity, Music is life😎 Thanks
there is nothing that i have tried, one always compromises the other in this type of gear. all i can say is for me the progression is boost >> boom >> blast (with custom eq)
@@alanrossreviews Say no more, sadly that's the reality, i'll keep enjoying my boom in peace🙂, save up some more later & get the Blast & keep enjoying the two depending on the occasion/event Thanks a lot, keep up your good detailed work, we appreciate you👌🏻
@@okpalaathanesius8939 "i'll keep enjoying my boom in peace" I find it very difficult to enjoy music in peace, it tends to lack any sound. 😂Seriously though I love my Motion Boom with Alan Ross EQ, such an amazing portable speaker.
@alanrossreviews meant only good things :p & I just finished the video in it's entirety given the fact the boost has been around since 2017 it still holds its own against newer speakers
@alanrossreviews well no, I already ended it😂 but it feels more comfy like this, I am someone that needs to do his own things, girls will never understand our hobby's alan😂😂
The Bogasing M5 sounds way too upper-bass dominant and metallic. It's basically tuned the same way as all the cheap Chinese generic speakers on the market that look-alike.
well i wouldnt go that far 😁 if you stick to 50% and below its not too bad if you avoid bright tracks. outdoors closeup it will probably work quite well as a 360 listen. its not the greatest ever speaker for sure, but not that worst either if they hold the price.
@@alanrossreviews sorry, but for me, the resolution isn't just there, as it offers no extension both in the low harmonics and highs, and not to mention, even the bass on it has no quality.
@@alanrossreviews well maybe at 50% it doesn't sound all that bad. But if I had to choose a speaker for low-level listening I'd pick the MaxSound Plus over the M5 anyday of the week.
