I started my trip in Charleston and took 119 south to 44 south to the town of Sarah Ann where the Hatfield Family Cemetery is! You walk up the side of the mountain a little bit and there they are. The crazy thing about that trip was on the pedestal of Anses statue, visitors placed coins. I had never seen that before. Each denomination means something different and in the middle of those coins was a flipping bullet!! NOPE this hatred is still going strong in the modern world. Continue on 44 to US 52 East to Gilbert where you can buy shine at the Hatfield & McCoy Distillery. The road up and down to that is not for the faint at heart or wide vehicles lol. Then you take 52 back west where you will see the heartbreak of mountain top removal. It looks like you are on another planet. Take that straight into Matewan.
