When I worked in the Foreign Auto garage where I was trained, one day a white 55 300SL was on the trailer in the garage lot. I went in and Jeff told me it was my next project. The car was inherited by kind of a knucklehead who was born into money. He lived here in Mass in South Dartmouth. If you know anything about that area, you will know Money is everywhere. The car was in a barn since the mid 70s untouched but covered. It had a red houndstooth interior and it was bright white on the outside . It was rather clean but needed tires of course. It has Rudge wheels and we had it running in 2 days. Surprisingly it needed very little in mechanical terms. It has direct injection so the pump was taken out and rebuilt by Mattie Benz of RI. I drove it a few times and it went well. You get a lot of looks especially getting in and out. The color on this car is something else. Well chosen despite what a few have said. It's a driver.
working in my shop is my medication, working with my hands is so therapeutic and calming, especially when you're working on a project u been wanting to build. when u hear it run for the first time, u giggle and smile from ear to ear like it's your first engine build back when u was a kid. every new engine is exciting to hear. thanks for taking the time to make this video, i know the time it takes to film and edit.
Love the styling and curves of the old Mercedes. They were a work of art. And this one is one of the most spectacular ones. Would be so cool to be able drive one of these. The colour is spectacular, even in the booth lights. Look forward to more. Thanks for sharing. Be safe and stay well.
Love the color. It's close to a 1955 Chevy Sea foam green. You laid down Matrics clear coat? That is the clearest clear coat money can buy. There is no haze in it. Two 👍👍 up!
Amazingly the same as Chevys seafoam green of the sixtys. A shit ton of chevy pick ups were painted that color. One of my favorites so no complaint here. It is a jarring sight on a gull wing though. edit: I see now in the comments I wasn't the only one to see the similarity.....
Honestly, I love it no matter the particular shade. Props to the customer for thinking outside the box for a color choice. I'll bet she'll be gorgeous assembled and sat out in broad daylight. Beautiful paint job.
@johndragon3900 Aw it's only a few that bitch about it and most of them are just computer trolls that know nothing ! But thank you for saying exactly what I feel too. But you will always have these people in the world.
@kalgstol Well look up what real ones go for. We built this cause we are not the rich and famous . And yes we are crazy enjoying life and building our Own cars having fun!!
@garysgarage.2841 Well its nice to hear your opion. Can you afford a real one cause we can t but at least we can have fun with this one and that's what it's about being into cars and meeting cool folks! You enjoy your day!
I agree, You can’t really judge a color by looking at it in a booth and on a phone/computer screen. They aren’t able to exactly match the color pixels. That’s why painters do a proof on a piece of metal and confirm that’s the color the owner wants before spraying the entire car. I’m a mechanic and I know that.
