absolutely brilliant work mate! she's a real beauty! A thought from the peanut gallery, i would let the fins be in chrome/stainless stain a silvery finish. i think the contrast with the wicked body paint along with the rest of chrome and the chrome door handles will give it a nice flow. Otherwise, perhaps a bit too much of that beautiful body paint - pastelish limish green. Anyway, i'm sure whatever you do will look amazing, well done 🙏🏻
I should prefer a mercedes like this instead of the original. Besides i should prefer the convertible version and a different colour but we all have different taste dont we.
Because of the enormous values, restorations can be worthwhile (profitable) when they start with a complete mess. So, when you see a 'real' one, much of it has been fabricated. Your drivable replica is fantastic.

Kits always start off with just the body. Yes most are made to fit a "certain" kind of frame/pan, but all chassis are custom - all of them. The home/shop hobbyist has to make their chassis just as you did. Most wont make it to the degree you did and you did an excellent job. But you say it in the vid - you can buy the body... done, its a kit car. Sorry, its a really fucking nice one though. 😘
These Gullwing kits are really starting to take off now! ( we have a similar project channel in the U.K. called “ not just campers” it’s a brilliant show and they’ve just completed their Gullwing replica. Loving the turquoise paint job on this one so I will be intrigued to see what matching interior has been chosen for this beauty! 👌
This is a customer car and Im guessing it will come out at approximately $150k on the road but I’m happy to think that is a “working man’s budget” please tell my wife 😁
The Gullwing looks spectacular. That colour is super cool. That interior is gonna look incredible. Look forward to seeing it move forward. The old Mercedes were beautifully designed bodies. Could not see me getting my 69 year old fat ass in and out of that unfortunately. Beautiful looking old GMC. Your attitude is spot on!! Whatever you call it, you will never be invited to a gathering of classic Mercedes cars and will always be relegated to the Kit Car gatherings or the cars and coffee at your local strip mall. And when you drive down the street everyone will know it's not the real thing.
Well put,no matter what car or truck that I've owned in 51 years, I always had fun driving them,my cousin has 13 different old cars and trucks, one of them I would consider a "show quality" car but he drives and enjoys them all,even taking them to local shows from time to time,BTW love the color on the Mercedes😆
Well said Rick, it seems to be getting worse all the time. You listen to guys bad mouthing a guys car just because it's not their cup of tea. My thoughts are if your proud of your ride and want to show it off good on ya.
I think nut and bolt restorations are a dwindling thing. A 70 chevelle ls6 car is rare. They have their place in automotive history. But more people are doing “restomods”. Why??? Because they are built to enjoy. They have the ability to ride better, handle better, stop better, more reliable and the creature comforts put in them make it a more pleasurable experience. In my opinion it’s more fun because it’s not a piece of automotive history with an extremely high value. Yes restomods are expensive but if it’s crashed or damaged it’s not as big a deal. I took a 2dr granny 307 chevelle and did a restomod Lsx 454 car and I would never advertise it as a true 454 car. Even if I was a shady shit when you looked it over you would see the technology was way to advanced to be 54 years old.
