SmallHD Indie 7 | Is it Overpriced?

Gotta say dude, you come off as very honest and trustworthy.

So i have used good monitors in the past. Recently I bought the Shinobi 7, and it was sent back within two days. I think within minutes of seeing the image it was unacceptable. I am now sending back the Blackmagic 12g, much better, and quite incredible features for the price and in general, I ordered a small HD indie 7 and I have yet to see the image, but the reason I ordered is because to me I HAVE TO be inspired by the image when shooting, and the other monitors didnt really do that the way the old professional monitors I used years ago did (REDS). So Hopefully the Indie will have that incredible inspiring image. Otherwise again you were very honest and blanaced in your review and advice. I agree its a tough choice if you are creating work professionally and for clients and dont really need the inspiration. In that case, any of these will do as you mentioned. They are all good for their reasons.

Hey Jeremy! It's insane how much cheaper the Atomos Shinobi 7" is vs. the SmallHD. I have the Shinobi 7" and while it's super bright and very easy to use, it's also pretty chunky! The bezels are huge, and the functional screen space is proportionately small in comparison to how SmallHD always seems to keep the bezels small. Worth it? That's tough... mostly because Atomos monitors are less color accurate. As much as I've tried to get mine to match using Atomos calibration software, I've never gotten them to match.

Broskie where did you get that Monitor mount from ? Wooden Camera? Which model # is it? TIA

The lagginess of the monitor has been a huge downside for with my Focus 5

Sorry to hear you didn't like the SmallHD, I personally think they are top of the line monitors for all sorts of video production,. They are color accurate, interface is simple, and features like the SDI and HDMI loop out is awesome as well. when you zoom out and look at multiple pages I can confirm that it can get a bit laggy on the 702 and 502 bright, but I guess the point is to stay on a single page or swipe left to go into another page, when you zoom out and look at multiple pages at once its for more of a quick glance for what preset pages you have already, for example I have pages called "clean feed" "exposure" and "framing" with different tools on each page that cater towards each category. I love smallHD monitors but weirdly enough I hate touch screen monitors lol I feel like the joystick is a much more enjoyable experience than just a touch screen.
