Great review, but in my opinion the aesthetics of the Smallrig adapter looks weird and distractive on the video and to make things worst, the dead cat on top of the microphone doesn´t look good either, while the Rode version looks clean and professional.

I personally prefer the Rode version as it looks more professional. The Smallrig narrow handle looks cheaper and toy like. I thought the extension was a good idea for travel until I started using it and saw it on camera. I use this for live events

I was almost sold , its a same the small rig doesn't have a foam pop shield then it would win hands down!!

Yeah, that's the only downside. However, as I mentioned in the video you can probably find a foam screen that would fit on Amazon for cheap. Thanks for watching!

Godox makes one comparable to the Interview Go. When Rode was all out of theirs I picked up a Godox, which also comes with a foam topper.

Is there also a difference between the quality when using the ntg videomic connected with the go vs connected the ntg videomic with a long cabel directly to the camera?

The NTG connected directly will probably give you a better quality sound plus it has more capability for shaping the sound. The GO allows you to have more mobility when recording and although the sound quality may not be as good as the NTG it's still very good for most uses. Thanks for watching!

The Rode Interview GO looks more professional, but the SmallRig Stretchable Mic Handle has the convenience of folding down to backpack size. Tough decision.

Shorter good, two orientations good, cheaper better, 1/4-20 game changer! and I already picked up a pack of 10 generic windscreens foam so I think I'm good. That was the one thing I didn't like was the logo on the foam.

@@IsomPhilips well we'll find out in a week. I was actually thinking about making one versus the cost for the premade one and what other alternatives were out there. I have an old UHF and VHF wireless microphone. one of them is a lapel and is prone to interference and the other one is a handheld that works pretty good but has a weird randomly dying issue which requires hitting the receiver to fix and then it's good for a few hours+ apart from the semi poor audio quality. When it Occurred to me last week rather than dragging that thing with me to this one event I do for Q&A, I could just use the guys RodeWGo that works so much better. We stopped using it because well Wireless, radiation and 5G... I don't like working for this guy.... We went to a completely wired approach for the guest speaker(s). Yes I have to run a 100 foot cable from the back of the room and convert down to a lapel mic.

Thanks for this - did you ever find a foam windshield that could be adapted for this? Because that would be great to try and stop any plosives

I haven't looked for a foam windscreen. I already own a few that would probably work but I just have used the little fuzzy screens that come with the mic. May not look the best but they do a pretty good job. Might try looking a bit harder for a foam screen. Thanks for watching!

Generic foam does the job (in some generic foam you have to stick a 📏 to get it as rectanglly wide enough to put it inside); although you have to crank the gain at the end. Also, if you don't have budget for the mic stick, you can use selfie stick. Go to local camera store, get coldshoe adapter (coldshoe to ¼" hole), unscrew the phone holder & screw the coldshoe adapter. That's it. It's a very cheap make do solution which worked for an acquaintance of mine (since china products are not buyable in my country).

Does the small rig hand held accessory have any kind on windscreen to put over the whole transmitter?
