I just received my new L Bracket from Smallrig for my Fujifilm X-T5 camera. I had been using a generic L Bracket and it wasn't sculpted for the specifics of the X-T5....it got me out shooting, but I wasn't happy about it. I ordered this bracket online and it arrived from overseas. I am super happy with the quality and thoughtful attention to detail that went in to this piece.

I tend to forget about Small Rig for accessories and need to check them out. I do find it interesting that the Small Rig website does not offer the L-bracket/grip that you purchased.

I wish they made these for Manfrotto. I have the XT-5 but my X-S10 has a great battery grip.

I hear ya. Yea, Manfrotto ecosystem is unique. I wish they would move to Area Swiss, but they are set in their ways.

@@JohnPedersenPhoto They do sell a SA ball head. I'll have to see if it's worth it.

Thanks for the video! Can the side of the bracket (where you showed that it’s extendable) be removed completely if I just need to use the hand grip at times?

Thanks for watching and the comment. YES, it can be removed. Just one screw.

I am looking for an L bracket, but without the hand grip. Does that allen wrench fit the screws under the hand grip to remove it?

Hi Nigel. I'm not 100% sure as I've not tried it. The handgrip is held on by two Allen screws, which you should be able to find a wrench easily enough. One note though, if you remove handgrip, there will be a protruding bit of the base bracket sticking out which acts as the base of the handgrip. this cannot be removed. it's part of the metal bracket. Minor annoyance maybe, but something to note.

@@NJM1948 after I sent above, I checked something else....Kirk Industries makes an L bracket for the 5 that doesn't have a hand grip. kirkphoto.com/camera-mounting/fuji/x-t5.html

@@JohnPedersenPhoto Thanks again - quite a bit pricey and as I am in Europe it would be too much to consider the shipping on top. Thanks for taking the time though....appreciated

I haven't as yet bought the X-T5, but its nice to see the extra grip because I too have larger hands. Can you show how much more length you have over the camera with out the L bracket attached. Just curious .Also how stable is the bracket vertically with the bracket extended? Thanks for the video.
@JohnPedersenPhoto

Hey Tim. Thanks for the questions. With the vertical end extended and tightened down, it is very stable. With heavier lenses, telephotos, there might be some twist/deflection, but it should be minimal. Very sturdy materials! For the extra length question, are you talking about the right hand grip? It adds about 1/2" making that grip nice and deep for larger hands. Fits my mitts perfectly.

My SmallRig L bracket for my XT5 yesterday via FedEx from China. Looks good and much cheaper than most L brackets. Like the extra grip.
